Well a top-notch set of wheels will cost 2k, dura-ace Di2 groupset is the best part of 3k, tyres 0.1k, top-notch integrated bars and stem 0.5k, plus saddle 0.1k, cabling 0.2k, plus the dual sided power meter 0.7k . All of which totals £6.6k at full retail - leaving the frame fork and seat post around £3k - which is a bargain if you ask me.

but i do take your point, when compared to a motorbike it s expensive. I would add also that many people have already invested in Di2 would just migrate it and a lot of their finishing kit and groupsets over to the frameset making the outlay a lot less galling, and a more sensible investment - and sell their previous frameset - I they could stomach that.

@@bitchoflivingblah I know those are the prices, and all bike manufacturers have to source parts from other companies. But the prices are way too high. Think about how complex a modern motorcycle is, and what it can do, and then think about how comparatively simple is a bicycle. Kudos to their marketing departments I guess.

The idea of having a spare clean bike is great, except there's zero chance we would get a 2nd bike from a brand. It would just never happen. Dave should have cleaned it before filming though, slap on the wrist is incoming

the ultra di2 model costs $8000. Thats a bike with "Specialized" rather than "S-Works" on the downtube. Go figure

@@stevensantana8049 A funny anecdote. We all know that the old people (baby boomers) have the cash, not the young ones who need it the most. So they're the ones who buy most of those expensive bikes. I know, I'm 55 and I ride with lots of MAMILs, many of them spends thousands of dollars to save a kilo or two and have a "stiffer" bike. Many of them would have been better off having a liposuction for the same amount saving 10 kg or more. Talk about a bad investment. As for stiffness, well, a few of them, probably have a better return on investment when they buy their Viagra. But you would be surprised by how many actually have, with the collaboration of an accommodating doctor, a testosterone prescription to perform. The funny thing is as soon as the road goes up, you see those who have bought an expensive bike mainly as a toy to show to the world their social status and to try to hide as much as possible their poor performances not because it was the logical thing to buy. The other ones, the ones who actually perform, many are so afraid by the fact that they are getting old, that they have to show to the world that they are very performant despite their age. Insecurity (related to social acceptance by a group or aging), makes people do strange things.

@@sylvainmichaud2262 I brought a bianchi Pinella steel born a 2005 ot os 13 years old and today I still have it put 40k very strong frame compared with the very expensive carbon frame bikes.. some of my friends are asking me to get rid of the bike and buy a new carbon bike.. but i say to myself no way I love my bike... next year I'm going to upgrade my bike to a new group set campy 12 speed record...

@@stevensantana8049👍 A great bike with a great new grouppo and not to forget the benefit of zero bottom bracket potential issues ! Never get rid of a great frame with a treaded (italian or english) bottom bracket. Especially, if it's a Bianchi with celeste green (#427 if I remember well)

@pete smyth Specialized offers 6 different frame sizes of Venge, so noone would need such an absurd "adjustment". Anyone who needs more than 2 cms of spacers has either the wrong size frame or the wrong bike.

@@MrBilo08 Looks like about 25mm at the most. Calm down.

@@punkandprovocation at 3:22 you can clearly see that there are 2 x 10mm and 3 x 5mm spacers on top of a 15mm conical spacer. That's a stack of 50mm, 35 or 40 which is removable (depending on the availability of 10mm conical spacer for that proprietary stem).

All new bikes come with longer steerer tubes and extra spacers, especially demo bikes like this test bike. It's not biggy for a customer to get the bike shop to chop the steerer tube. It's no biggie

We can only review each bike on its merits, sure the price of this one is super high but we also feature plenty of cheaper bikes on the channel

@@roadcc I understand .. I also understand your a business. Unfortunately all this advertising is playing in the the hands of the manufacturers.. pushing the desirability and pushing up the prices of cycling equipment. That said, I read an article just the other day and for the first time I read the words ... "ridiculously priced" first time I've seen that in a publication.

Price increases aren't exclusive to the cycling industry though. I would say we also try to question the price, Dave openly says he wouldn't buy this because of the cost and gives the advice to purchase the cheaper model (which is about half the price) We often say in the office that the consumer will vote with their wallet, the brands can't force you to buy the most expensive kit, they can't run businesses like that so there will always be cheaper alternatives. The advancements in tech is always good though as it filters down in the future to the more affordable bikes

@@roadcc we all know though the cheaper models are not all that cheap anymore as for voting with your wallet... if you want bikes.. clothing.. accessories etc. We have no choice but to pay for the over priced products..

You're wrong on this one, there is an abundance of quality entry level and higher kit that doesn't break the bank. You always have a choice on what to spend your money on
