I just got the 140mm version a couple weeks back and I am having an absolute blast on it! The shorter travel gives the bike a slightly more trail feel vs enduro but I still have never felt as confident on the steep downhills and drops as I have on this bike! Glad you are enjoying yours!
Hey Jacky, great review of the Status. I just bought a 2022 Status 160, I am so stoked, I wanted this bike for a while. However, it was a bit out of my price range. Moreover, my local bike shop had it on sale for $1,500, it normally retails for $3,000. This to me was a huge deal.
Great review and I like how you kept it real. I no I am not out to break any records, just want a fun capable mountain bike and for the money this bike is tops. I am 5’9” and bought an S4 because they didn’t have an S3. So far I’m pretty happy with it, and I noticed that it is super stable and inspires confidence. 👍
Hell ya, reviews are supposed to be fun, too. Nice work. Just brought mine home a few weeks ago. It’s a trail eater, and really wants to get off the ground. Big ups.
Sick this review just got me mine its awesome thanks for the review , the bike is a blast will agree its heavy but very stuck to the ground thanks so much!
Hi there Jacky. Great review Dude! I enjoyed the simplicity and the realness of what you had to say. I am in the market for a bike and wanted to get your thoughts. I love tearing it down single tracks (who doesn’t), but how is the climb? I ride for fun AND exercise, so I like pushing up the climbs. I also take flat, long (20-ish miles) sometimes; so how is the peddling too? Thanks Bro! (By the way, I’m looking at the S5 in Santa Cruz, California)
Hey Craig! I hate the climbs, and I take my sweet time to get up any uphill section. But to be honest, I did not find it much difference to my Trek Fuel Trail bike. Its worth it in my opinion!
@@jackydemartin6689 No I don't. But thinking about lighter handlebars and rims. I Will let you know if I find anything. But rides nice as is, but lighter always sounds better. Cheers!
Good simple review. I find it strange how Specialized has marketed this bike in the United States. They have kept it quiet, like it's the cousin that is an embarrassment to the family.
Hey man, After having this for a long time now, YES. Pedal strikes are very common, and annoying. But still, it's worth the fun you get with the short BB.
@@jackydemartin6689 Thanks! I rode my mates Stumpjumper Evo comp... which is a 29er and still had peddle strikes. So I guess it's just something I need to deal with. Maybe a heavier suspension setup! Thanks bud
@@joecavalier6535 definitely i came off a 170mm travel bike but had a steeper head angle. I feel like the status and its agressive geo make it feel like it can take big asf hits. Sometimes i forget its a 140 lol.
Going S3 ordering today finally got enough for a down. Are the color options different between countries or is it just between the 140 and 160? Sick bike, so stoked!!!!
Hey man I was just going to buy one soon and I was wondering if you had any problems with the front fork, as I heard people had problems with the 36 thanks.
Hey man, Nope. I haven’t had one issue. I ride hard every week and she is still holding strong. I did have to upgrade the rear derailleur. But that’s it!
I have been eyeing this bike up for a while now and pulled the trigger is bought one in the 140 configuration and the 140 is just an absolute monster truck of bike even after coming off a 170/160 29er enduro bike, but I bet the 160 just eats up everything considering buying one for my dad so he can come do races with me. Would you recommend the bigger travel? Or do you feel as they are both just as beastly?
Im looking on buy’in one of these but specialized says that that exact same color is for the 140’s im confused why people with the 140’s say that its a 160, is there a way to “unlock” the 160 mm trave?!?!
