I tried on the red and black ones in my local shop and decided I wanted them in Limon so I had them to order them. They are going to be my first clipless shoes since Im just starting out in cycling. Thanks for the video!
Great review - thank you. Torch 3.0 has jumped to the top of my list. I've found Specialized shoes to suit my feet in the past and (as you highlight) it really does seem to have the bits of the S-Works that I want, without having to pay for the bits that I don't need.
Hi, I struggle with shoe width but only on the toes, is the torch 3 horizontally wider not just in terms of vertical volume? Also is the cleat position the same on the torch, i.e. is it further forward on one of the pairs?
How does the Torch 3.0 construction compare to the S-Works? Is there a cardboard last board under the insole? Or does it go without the board? Any idea on the stack height? Is it as low as the S-Works?
David - i need the heel to hold my foot tight because of tendonitis problems - how much difference do you feel is the heel tightness between the two? Great video by the way.
I found the Tourch 3.0 to be quiet a bit loose fitting in the heel cup. Couldn’t eliminate the slippage with the dual boa. Happy I didn’t clip in wearing them. Had to go with the S Works 7 due to narrower heel cup. Otherwise the T 3.0 would be by shoes. Lp
Wish specialized didn't make their shoes narrower a few years back. Although i've been wearing specialized since 1987 these newer shoes are just too narrow and cause pain so time to find another brand. Pity as teh Torch 3.0 are a great shoe
Hi David....nice review..Im ordering some online in a day or so but figured I would ask about sizing. Are the Torches fairly spot on for sizing compared to other Spesh shoes? I have the old Pro's in 44 and tried on Swork 6's in store whi h seemed good with a lot more(welcomed) toe box room. pls let me know your thoughts. Thanks!
Hi Evan, I've found the sizing consistent between the two shoes, the Torch have slightly more volume around the toes than the S-Works 6 shoes (this is somethign that has changed on the new S-Works 7 shoes)
Hey David. I am looking at Torch 2.0. How do you think they will be in cold weather? Like 30F. Are they really thin? Do they let a lot of air through? Please let me know! Thanks for your video.
Hi, good question! The Torch shoes have a bit more padding especially around the tongue, so they are a bit warmer than the S-Works shoe which is very thin. At that sort of temperature, I would recommend adding a thick overshoe to provide extra insulation and to stop cold air getting in through the small air vents
Fair enough. I have the overshoes. I am guessing the little holes on Torch shoes will be a little more air constricting than open mesh on my Shimano entry level shoes. OK thanks a lot. Just trying to cover all things before I drop the money.
Tricky one comparing shoes in cold weather conditions really. Sounds like the small perforations will make a difference compared to open mesh, but they really are still shoes designed for warm weather, like nearly all road race shoes. One trick you could try is silver foil over your socks. Sounds crazy, but helps to block any cold air that makes it through the shoe. There are also windproof socks from Assos that could help in the cold too. If you really want a warm winter shoe, have you thought about a dedicated winter boot like the Specialized Defroster?
