I bought a 2nd hand Levo recently and the dropper lever was really stiff, made it difficult to ride on trails. This video nailed it, issue was the cable. The outer cable was also damaged so replaced both inner and outer and now working much better

How did you replace the outer cable? I can't find info on the routing.

Omg..this has helped me so much. I used my Levo for family bike rides and I use the seatpost for hook up my 14month old Burley FM. So I keep adjusting it up and down and I notice my seat post was slow and I found own that cable got stuck. I was able to fix it watching this video. Thank you

I have a brand new (2 days old) Turbo Levo SL and the dropper post has stopped working. It didn't work from the start but then yesterday it did work for a few minutes then the cable on the lever came off and it was stuck solid. Your video is very good. I will now try to rectify mine. UPDATE; the cable barrel clamp had come away because the grub screw is missing. Plus the black outer cable tube is down too far in the seat tube. I think I might be able to put a string loop around this and pull it up and maybe get another grub screw from somewhere. Your video was very helpful.

Thank you very much your video helped me a lot, my dropper didnt work actually after I got the bike from a inspection. I was the whole afternoon with the bike until I could fix it. Still, I learned a lot, too. I think, because they fixed a noise from the dropper, after removing and putting grease on in, it was put back but the end of the cable was not in place. So it worked twice, then the cable lost direction. Well, its working again now. Thanks again and all the best. 👍🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

Torques are 10.2 nm top shock bolt and 23.7nm bottom bolt. I like these videos but I have to say on this one the dropper is still not right. It is far too slow. The cable goes down to the bottom of the seat tube and around a shape in order to then be redirected up the seat tube. I suspect the cable has come off that loop shape so the cable has too sharp a fold which is why there is too much resistance and the post is slow. The diagnosis was right about the seat post insert being adjusted had caused the problem...............but I fear the problem although lessened, is actually still there. Only solution is to gain access to where the cable goes around the loop shape at the bottom of the seat post..

Hi, Thanks for watching and your comment, the post actually ascended a faster than it did in the video, the lever was quite difficult to press with the bike high up in the stand. It's so easy to pull the cable too far up the post loosing the wider loop. luckily the rider is 6' 3" and the post has a 170mm drop allowing the post to be set where the cable could be routed more easily. The other thing which I failed to mention in the video was the dropper mechanism wasn't in the best condition and had wear on the rocker that depresses the centre pin. I made the customer aware of this. The next video is about a yeti sb5

You dont have to remove the barrel to release the cable from the seatpost itself. Pull the housing down and around the base it will free the tension and the barrel falls out.

Great video as always. *Question Please* Why didn’t you include how to measure the cable wire for proper operation of the dropper post during the “Replacing the Cable” I love your tips and tricks so I was anticipating at 28:14 mark “sorting the cable length” for your tip for proper measurement of attaching the cable to the dropper lever.

That mechanism at the bottom of the seat post is subject to moisture and rust which causes it to seize up As mine did . I got it free and working. But I packed that mechanism full of grease no problems since
@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic
@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic 3 года назад
Yes, it does, sometimes a good option if you planning on keeping the bike and you have the seat post set up at the right height is to take the excess out of the cable to shorten its length, just need to renew it if you decide to sell it on in future. Thanks for watching.

Great video! Sure wish you would've shown (at 8:52) how to free that cable guide from the frame. I can get mine to pull up a bit, but not come conveniently loose like you had.

once the cable enters the seat tube from the asymmetric side-arm, it drops quite a bit lower - almost as low as the chain-stay pivot - and then feeds round something Spesh refer to in the retailer manual as "the shadow loop", before heading upwards to hook onto the bottom of the dropper. I fitted a dropper to a 2019 base model that didn't come with one - it was a right nightmare!
@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic

Hi Graham, yes its an odd idea. Its supposed to allow movement of the post but I think the loop is too tight and creates friction causing the outer cable to fur up inside before its due for replacement.. Good idea in theory. Thanks for watching and the comment.

That’s the stupidest bike design aspect iv heard in a while. Looping a gear cable in a tube the size of the seat tube is asking for trouble.
@GNX157
@GNX157 Год назад
Sounds like a nightmare. That loop is probably not present there any longer. You’d likely need to drop the motor down to see up in there to make sure the loop is intact and routed correct before locking down the one end in those clamps. The way he has it now seemed like as he moved the post, the housing moved the same, whereas it should be stationary and the loop closing or expanding below in the frame. At the very least an inspection borescope needs to be run into the area about the swing arm mount to see what’s going on in there.

I think that as it was all apart I would have replaced the outer as well. Easy to do as you can use the inner cable as guide and then push & pull the old & new outer at the same time.

Great job! But I never did see what was wrong with the inner cable...
@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic
@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic 3 года назад
Hi, thanks for watching. The cable was pushed down into the seat tube causing it to loop, this caused the inner cable to be restricted. Also the ferrule was dislodged from the bottom of the post.

Great video. I have a 2019 kenevo and the bolt that holds the dropper post lever onto the bar mount has been lost. Should the bolt be in a sleeve? I believe it's an m4 bolt and I can't get any information online or specialized. I'm talking about the bolt that holds the trigger on. Any help would be appreciated. New subscriber 👍🍻

Hi, Thanks for your comments and your subscription, I not heard of this before but it's one to look out for, the best solution I feel for you is to email specialized support with a photo so they can identify the part you need.

I was using this video as a reference to install a Rockshox AXS dropper post on my levo comp. Do you know if the dropper cable just pulls out after removing the lever and clamps off the cable, or do you need to remove the motor too? Thanks! Great video!
@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic
@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic 3 года назад
Hi, thanks for watching, after removing all the clamps the cable just pulls out, you don’t need to remove the motor. Allow enough new cable to set your new post to the right height before making the final cut.

@10:49, I can push the housing cable but it is stuck. I tried pulling the from the top of the seat tube and it won't budge. It's been two weeks now and even Hercules couldn't pull the housing. What's your recommendation?
@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic
@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic 2 года назад
Hi thanks for watching, if it’s the original cable it’s likely to be stuck on the top motor bolt. The original cable went right down to the top of the motor, round the bolt then back up the tube to allow for adjustment. Unfortunately you going to need to do some more removals, also make sure all the cable clamps are removed near the shock.
