I could listen to Ian describe his morning bowel movement. He is very infectious and a bass guru in my opinion. That purple Dimension is just stunning.
That groove on the Ethos with the distortion is killer. It’s like if Eddie Van Halen played bass. Van Ian. Or maybe Billy Sheehan. You gotta transcribe that on SBL
Look at his hands! There's only a few open harmonics possible in that position. It starts in A and moves to D just from looking. You can watch the video at a slower speed too. I'm sure you'll figure it out quickly.
Gnarly intro Ian! Those distorted harmonics are wicked! I got my black on black NS Dimension HP enroute to Toronto. I cannot wait! Well done on the HP series SPECTOR! Grind on 🤘🏼
I'm glad this purple dimension sounds better than the one Nate Navarro got for his demo. The low B sounded off in that one. This definitely sounds like I think a 37" B should sound.
OH WOW! I want all of the things! That tone is what I’ve been looking for, for a long time. I’m kind of on the verge of tears, thank you for doing this video! MN bass players!
I really prefer the sound of these HP versions. The fishman system had a lot of sounds that I wouldn’t find useful and this sounds more like what I think of as the Spector sound
I do love the HP series on the Dimension with the Darkglass Tone Capsule and the EMG pickups as opposed the FIshman Fluence's - now if you just did the same colorways (faded black and the moss) and I would be sold. I want half of both instruments on the Dimension.
I would take one in the Plum Crazy Pearl please.... Spector, you are doing a lot of good stuff this days. I juts got the new Dimension in Red, and was thinking how it would sound with EMGs - and now this.... killer sounding... Dimension 5 HP with EMGs... Where should I send you the checque? :)
Hi,looks great and sounds good but don´t forget about that lovely white Fender-bass. Sounds better so don´t forget about it. Of all the videos I´ve see with you it´s the one that has the sound I like the most Cheers. Marcus
...basically a EuroDimension CST would be perfect. But with LX and Classic finishes. By the way: I think a Korean made neck-through fretless might be a great idea too
What is the signal chain for this?? Not only am I looking into the 4 string variants of the Dimension, but oh my god that dirt/grit distortion is perfect for me. I love the more modern, clankier sounding tones a lot of bands use nowadays. But I *really* love a bit more chunky, slightly fuzzy distortion like what you use at the beginning of the video! Stupid good!
Killer opening riff Ian! I just ponied up for a NS Dimension HP 5 from Chris at Ish Guitars!!!! It better be good. I better sound like you!!!! Hahahah, you're f'n awesome dude! Scott wishes he was ever half as good as you! hehehehe... Now I'll be in Spector heaven hanging with real spectors and gobblins. See there, I'm already clever. Just got asked to a band this morning! There must be a shortage of bassists in Los Angeles. HA! Wish I could grin huge like that, Momma Mia!!!! --- Horse Pecker man!!! It stands for Horse Pecker!!! It's a whole different Dimension!!!
I would just kill to get the 5 string Dimension with that insanely gorgeous interstellar gloss that they gave to the Ethoes a few years ago. Instant buy if they released that Also a headless version would be killer, but that just doesn't ever seem to be Spector's thing, sadly
Several of our Authorized Dealers have them in stock now and our Online Dealers are also offering pre-orders that will ship very soon! www.spectorbass.com/find-a-dealer/
Hey thank you so much! But I also have to come to the defense of these instruments. I think they’re super reasonable for what they are honestly! Especially considering what the US custom shop prices are. I came away from this recording day feeling like I could gig that white Ethos and be super happy!
I notice you didn't include and of the lacking QC aspects. I bought the dimension 5 recently. It is such a disappointment. The nut carve is amateur at best. Every part of the bridge feels soooo cheap. The setup from the factory had the B @ 4mm and the G @ 3.5mm. Upon going through the setup process myself (15+ years of experience btw), the neck seems mostly straight but the fretwork is anything but level. Any adjustment from the truss rod or saddles that get the action under 3mm gives loads of fretbuzz, and not the desirable sort. The Dimension series bass really just seems like a shameless money grab. Produce a $500 instrument and charge a premium because neck-through and multiscale. For a $2k+ instrument, I am highly disappointed and will gladly share my experience with any and everyone considering a multiscale bass. Does Spector even care about QC on instruments that are going to anyone other than RU-vid reviewers??? Doubting it.
Ian Alison, you are better than Scott Devine...Both of you are great bass players, but you are the better presenter. You talk less - play more...Scott is boring...
I'm glad this purple dimension sounds better than the one Nate Navarro got for his demo. The low B sounded off in that one. This definitely sounds like I think a 37" B should sound.
