Spectralert Advance waterproof horn strobe fire alarm going off at Lowe’s in Murphy TX

I was going to the garden area of Lowe’s to get some flowers when I stumbled across this Spectralert advance fire alarm going off. There are Wheelock AS fire alarms in the store and two AS alarms in this garden area as well but this is the only advance that I know of at this location. I would have thought this would have been tied in with the Wheelock AS alarms. This is Nothing compared to that Edwards adaptahorn I got to film going off that one day that scared the hell out of me. I don’t know if I want to hear it going off again.

That's actually a fail because it's used as an emergency exit alarm, but it is on Code 3 and it says FIRE on it which it shouldn't.

They should have gotten one that has no lettering on it and have it set to continuous

This is only tied to that door which is why the store might not be active but this alarm is. It's probably used as a theft deterant which is why my Supermarket has the Gentex Commander 3's set to Code 3 when a shopping cart locks up they start chiming. But they don't have anything to do with the main fire alarm system. They are strictly not wired to anything else.

We use Gentex Comander 3 chimes for our theft alarms at my work. Its designed where the door is opened and they just wired it to the door. Thats not tied into the main fire alarm system.

It's an emergency exit alarm. It shouldn't read "fire"; however, they don't care.

I bet someone used the door to transport items, which they turn the power key to off which will disable the advance from sounding

This is probably used as an alarm for that emergency exit. It should definitely not be set on code 3 though. My local Lowe’s also has AS’s inside and outside for the fire alarm but uses Gentex commander 3’s for the emergency exits inside and Wheelock MT’s for the emergency exits outside.

That would make total sense. The other alarms in the store which are Wheelock AS alarms weren’t going off so somebody might have accidentally bumped into this door and set off this Spectralert advance

@@elevatorswithESH Yeah. They probably should have used the continuous setting and used and advance with no lettering or alert lettering and used a yellow, green, or blue strobe so people don’t confuse it with a fire alarm.
