Yes. Understated polish. The Brits have been selling that for years (recall Connery in the health spa, thwarting an assassination attempt on him in that steam cabinet [THUNDERBALL]). Calm enough to wrap the assassin's hands, use an elbow to sound an alarm, and simply saunter down the hallway. Great movie, and that guy banging away in the nightclub, who Bond has to sync his movements to (to dodge that bullet by swinging the female SPECTRE agent around as a shield) is wifey's drinking buddy, KING ERISSON. Never given credit for saving 007's life (I mean, he could have kept banging along). Sheeesh!

1. Guns: Bautista must have got the report from guards that they tried to shoot the car without causing any damage, he should know that car is bulletproof. 2. Ramming: For the same reason, as a bulletproof car, it should be also extra resistant to impacts more than a normal supercar. As those supercars are fragile, Bautista didnt want to damage his car more than he would damage Bond's, thus ending the chase. 3. Speed: Rome may be a big city but its streets, except some big ones, are mostly narrow and short. In order to avoid accidents and damage their cars, they had to be slower than expected. With these three hints Bautista only hoped to find out where Bond came from or put pressure on him hoping he would make a mistake and totaling the car

I think it’s a great chase overall but the audio design is poor: you don’t have any sound perception of flames and you rarely hear tires screeching or the engines. Or at least you hear them but much less than other modern car chases

I'm confused how he gets to Rome with this car to begin with. He takes the car from London to be in a meeting in Rome later that day. Like, that's a 1200 mile trip that Google says would take 19 hours. There are Austin Powers movies that are more thought out than Spectre.

But... the whole James Bond franchise is a commercial of sorts... Every company who manages to place its products in a James Bond movie gets more sales. It's nothing new, it's been like this since the beginning in the 1960's. There're even websites dedicated to all the brands that Bond ever used. Aston Martin would not be Aston Martin without Bond - they even build a model specifically for this movie. Car chases in Bond Movies always show how great that Aston Martin, Lotus, BMW, Fiat Panda, Citroen or what ever car he uses is, so that people want to get those cars to feel a little bit like James Bond... nothing wrong with it.

See, I love the idea of Bond having a car that isn't ready for the field so he has to rely on his speed and skill to get away, so I'm fully on board with this chase, UNTIL Hinx drives up alongside Bond (showing he's much faster) and then *does nothing*. Now we know Hinx can easily catch up to Bond in a straight line, but he never does it again. It's a sterile scene where the audience doesn't know is Hinx is trying to catch or kill Bond. Hinx doesn't have a gun, fine, but to counteract the absence of weapons, his car needs to become the weapon, whether that's to kill him or just stop him. Otherwise it's not a deadly car chase, it's a street race

bruh this car "chase" is so boring. Bond is on the phone talking casually and driving slowly through narrow alleyways and tight corners while Hinx is behind doing a loose follow. It's one of the many dull action scenes in this film. Hinx never shoots or tries to kill Bond once. It would have been nice to see Bond in some real danger using his wits to escape. The ending when he parachutes out and says "Good Evening" is pretty good though.

The car chase in 'Quantum of Solace' was incredible visceral but this car chase is incredibly technical. So much skill! I love how they're just launching and drifting their vehicles all over the place and making such tight, extreme turns at high speed. Incredibly thrilling and impressive

Great chase. Undeniably Bond. I love the musical score especially at 4:00 with that wide shot as the cars slide into view of the domed building in the background. I also love the humor here and how this movie overall was able to lighten up and have fun again, pissing off people who think Bond is serious, serious business, lol! I also like how he moves the mission along during this chase scene so that if he fails somehow, unlikely, but Moneypenny would still be able to pick up breadcrumbs. That's cool.

It's unfortunate... but it's also because Jaguar lost it's essence. Used to be Jaguar made sport cars, then mostly sedans and Land Rover made the SUV... and now Jaguar makes a bit of everything and people are a bit confused... so that reflects in sales.

@@t__a246 No kidding, you spend three movies building up conspiracy called Quantum, but then because the rights to Spectre become available, you rewrite everything so that it was Spectre all along. So the narrative doesn't make any sense. Further, the action is some of the most flat and boring I've ever seen in a Bond film. They had no idea how to create tension. It was just a forgettable experience all around.

To understand this chase scene you have to understand how Sam Mendes thinks. Not saying that one has to like it, but Mendes has a different approach to Bond compared to most other modern Bond directors. In his mind, there is nothing in the story that could justify big heavy noisy action at this point. Which is why the chase is slightly more laid-back with some humour and plot development. It is partly intended to build atmosphere rather then being a big dramatic and suspenseful moment.

The whole car chase didn't work. The jokes were out of place, there was no reason for Bond to be so worried about one guy following him, and then he just ditches the whole car for no reason.

@@jeegunugger1871 But Bond didn't know this beforehand that He will not be able to take him out one on one. There was no point for him to be scared of one guy. In the opening scene of the movie Bond takes on how many guys single-handedly? He even climbed a helicopter. Now you tell me, which one is easier? Taking on multiple guys in opening scene where he climbed a helicopter or taking on one guy? It's just hard to believe that Bond will be worried about being chased down by one guy given the dare devil he is. And not try to take him out once Bond and that Guy both were alone.

The action sequences in No Time to Die are a huge improvement over the ones in Spectre. The Matera car chase is streets ahead (pardon the pun) of this.

Yeah Hans Zimmer is doing no time to die so I feel like it might be more like skyfall and spectre. I do miss david Arnold though. They haven't used him to do the score of a james bond since quantem.

Not even. The xj220 did make it to production status as can be driven on the road. The cx75 never made it which is mind boggling considering it’s one of the most beautiful jags ever made. Second only to the xj220.

The cinematography was great. Great camera work. Great editing. Bad thing is the color grading is so monotonous. Roger deakins knew how to light a scene in skyfall. He could've made this movie visually pleasing at least. Also the sound track over whelms the sound of the actual movie. And finally it looks like they're going 25 miles per hour. Mission impossible rogue nation Came out at the same time and boy that had some great car and motorcycle chases. Fall out too.

Not sure if anyone has noticed, the chase is a massive coincidence with Die Another Day where protagonist is driving an Aston Martin and one antagonist is driving a Jaguar : only the latter survives the chase, this one's far better as neither vehicle is invisible - worth a mention!.

I really liked it!! I thought it to be aesthetically pleasing, the cars are drop-dead gorgeous (who cares, if it looks like a commercial for two non-production cars, that was basically the whole deal of the Vanquish back in the day, and wasn’t every scene with that car absolutely perfect!?!?), Rome is a good background for the chase and although there are no real stakes here and it lacks a bit of excitement, I still found it to be entertaining and validated. Sure, Quantum was definitely better, but it’s not as horrible as everyone says..!

This chase is too clean, like an ad for Pirelli tyres. Say what you will about Quantum of Solace, but that car case was chaotic, claustrophobic in the tunnels and made you feel the stress and tension Bond was feeling

Guys stop criticizing every aspect of the damn chase lmfao. Bond’s calm demeanor throughout the chase fits his character pretty well & despite the empty streets, the chase was quite eventful. Who cares if it’s got more of a comedic vibe. We could use some of that sometimes. Everyone calm tf down. Why’s everyone here suddenly a movie critic. You don’t just read someone else’s comment about the scene, recycle it, and become some expert on movie car chases…

I liked that one, it shows that Moneypenny can be counted on to do more than be M's secretary and Bond's girl...friend who he trades quips whith when he's summoned to see M for a mission. Plus, the humor was needed in a series that has none (I love how Bond's caught with his pants down in the spy car _with no ammo in it_ !)

Absolutely brilliant! I love the Aston Martin DB10. It just looks and sounds great. (DB5 best though). It is probably the first time Daniel Craig has some light hearted comedy as Bond, and what better way to do it. In the car built for him, but then has to steal it! And of course, its not fully equipped. Great car chase. Love the music accompanying them as they curve round the bends in the road. The operatic music sets the tone. It's up there with all the best James Bond car chases.

@@joelrobinson1157 Not to mention, it was an elaborate and resourceful set piece that showcased Bond's proficiency with the car and added a degree of tension and excitement that's missing here as silly as the film itself was- Bond's usage of the ejector seat to overturn it back up and the combination of the vehicle's traction and invisibility capabilities to bait Zao into totalling his car were clever moves.

@@johntran4733 Yeah. Just think about all the exciting things you could add to a car chase in the middle of a city like Rome. Car parks, landmarks, water, they could have brought back the submarine transformation etc. They also could have even made it a lot more exciting if the villain had other cars being drivin by his henchmen to tryi to take out Bond. He doesn't even get rammed or anything. It feels more like a street race.
