Thank you! Those are great insights! We do not practice debate in schools in my country but I do hope to gain some knowledge on the topic. Can you suggest something to read to learn the basics?

What questions do you have for extemp and impromptu? I am filming a video tomorrow..

I’d like to know about the differences and similarities between the two events, how a typical round goes down, and how to succeed in either one. I have some impromptu experience and little on Extemp, so I’d like to see them juxtaposed.

Gear video I just have a couple of questions cuz I kinda need this for my debate in Congress If I asked them to address another point when they didn’t do it during their speech would that be a strong question for the judge to rank me high Also what if they already shows some statistics and numbers of the amount of people suffering from whenever the Congress bill is talking about in that case can you still ask an example

Hey! Sorry if this is a little bit late. Asking them to address a point they didn’t during a speech would still be a strong question because it is likely they didn’t address the point because they couldn’t or ran out of time in their speech. However I recommend that you ask them to address one of your points to further your point. It is somewhat awkward when it is someone else’s point, especially when they have their hand raised for the questioning period as well (they might have wanted the speaker to address their point as well). For you’re second question, I would avoid asking for an example if the speaker has already given them. Mostly because it wouldn’t really faze them and they can just pull a stat that they already said. It’s not necessarily a bad question but it definitely isn’t a strong one. Unless that number is important to show whether the issue is as serious or not as serious as the speaker is making it seem. In that case use it as a point rather than just a clarification question (ex. What percent of plastic straws actually do go into the ocean? If the number is that low, shouldn’t we be focusing on more harmful and abundant plastics?)
