Hey! In case you reacted to him because of my suggestion thanks a lot! RU-vid actually deleted my old account and making long comments with this one is a hit or miss. Let's see if this one isn't deleted. I’ll explain this MV. Ian is making a storyline based on his life dealing with bipolar disorder type I and DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder). There are three main "characters" in this storyline: Mito, Mr Insanity and The Hybrid. His first two albums focused on Mito while his most recent one 'Dear Insanity' focused on Mr Insanity and that's why they're so distinct. His next one is going to focus on The Hybrid. These aren't just characters, they are real people that have a mind of their own called "alters" (short for alternate state of consciousness) and that he coexists with. DID. In DID there's more than one person living in the same body with different memories, voice tone, body language, beliefs, motives, etc. DID stems from severe and/or repeated early childhood trauma (typically before five to ten years old) and the child fragments the mind so the "new person" can deal with the trauma and not the child otherwise it would be unbearable. That person was Mito. That way the child's mind can't fully integrate into one whole identity and instead it becomes multiple. Someone with DID only knows this mechanism to cope with trauma: to disassociate and become someone else. So they unconsciously switch between identities as they are exposed to stress and also more identities can be formed throughout their lives. Mito is the "protector alter" since he was created by the mind to deal with any trauma and to be the one who remembers them so Ian can forget it. Mito is represented in MVs by wearing black, with a deep voice, missing an eye because of white contact lenses and wearing a ring with an eyeball. Ian is the prominent identity, the one who stays the longest in the body (called the "host"). In very stressful situations Ian blacks out and Mito takes control of the mind in order to protect him (he's the one "fronting" ps. there's also cofronting meaning more than one alter in control at the same time.) Ian then will come back hours, days, weeks later (the longest that it has been was a month) not remembering anything that was said or done. Basically his life has been lived and he doesn't know how. Like a broken mirror, each fragment (each alter) can function on their own but they are still parts of a whole mirror, of a whole 'system' (how someone with DID can be called) Mr Insanity is the manic highs. He's chaotic and doesn’t care about consequences. In the story Mito is represented as a fallen angel. This is probably inspired by the fact that Mito has a lot of biblical acknowledge that Ian doesn't have. He's religious while Ian doesn't even go to church. In DID different alters have different memory banks, so one alter could know something that the other doesn't. For example when he is in control of the body an alter can speak a language that the other doesn't even speak. In the story Mito was the first creation of a God called the "Clown God" which is actually Mr Insanity. This God created versions of himself. Again inspired by the fact that Mito was the first alter, the one created back then by the mind of child Ian to take all of the trauma that was the root of his DID. Ian's first song on his very first album is actually called MITO so it could also mean being the first of his songs. At the beginning as the narration by Mr Insanity/Clown God says *"Out of all my creations..."* it shows a flashback of all of his previous songs *"You were the epitome of all that is good. The utmost of my potential. You were my first"* and the hand stops at the box where it's written MITO. The deep voice in the narration is meant to represent Mito's voice replying. That's because in real life Mito can reach an octave that Ian can't (in DID different alters can have different voice tones). Mito eventually gets banished from heaven because he got jealous of the other creations (of the other alters or of the other songs) and started to resent his creator Mr Insanity/Clown God. He goes then through a phase of betrayal, love and that loves turns into fury, a transition that will change him permanently into the darkness that he is. Hence why again at the beginning narration Mito replies *"And I'll make sure to be your last. You created me in your image. And now It's time to create mine in yours"* This is inspired by the fact that Mito in real life at first wanted to be the only one and didn't want to accept Mr Insanity as another alter. The first song 'Seraph' then (Seraph means the highest order of an angel, Mito used to be a seraph) represents Mito's fall from grace as he gets banished from heaven. The rest of the story is Mito (the black figure) trying to take control of Ian by kidnapping and at the end stabbing him. The pills are medication for bipolar disorder which he also has. The fact that the voices stopped then came back may allude to medication being sometimes effective only for a short period of time and creating a false sense of normalcy. In the end when the dancers in red engulf him and the song 'Ribbon' starts the switch happens and Mito now dressed in red is in control of mind. Until it comes back to Ian again. That's how DID works, the identities are always alternating being in control of the mind/body). DPR IAN isn't kpop at all, so no it's not a kpop album :) he just happens to be Korean, it doesn't make his music kpop because of that.
