Lol or one of those games where you're nearly lapping anyone and some troll decides to stop racing, spam through a crate and repeatedly get orbs and clocks I mean seriously about 12 orbs in the final lap
the speedghost on hyperspaceway seems like it makes the blue fire from the turbo pad impossible to keep after performing it, so i'm presuming that on that track, it's not worth going for
I actually had this happen to me but not intentionally. I was on Megamix Mania and I was at the big jump and I was hit by the Clock, went over the edge and slid down the red wall and absolutely flew through the Roo's Tubes section that follows the jump.
For showing if Speed Ghosting is actually faster... you'd need to show an entire lap. Lap 1 has different benefits then lap 2 and of course sure you might get ahead for a second... but if you're slower after that second you might just end up worse. You can't really do a side by side with short clips to give actual impact.
I'm not sure if it's the same thing because you get sacred fire but there's something similar in Megamix Mania... on the second shortcut, the one where you have to jump the big gap in the workshop-looking area, everyone seems to think you can only do it with blue fire but you can actually make the jump without any boost at all. If you drive into the fence on the left at the correct angle as you're going over the speed pad you get a weird extra burst of speed that easily gets you onto the shortcut section. Again, you have sacred fire from the speed pad so I don't think it can be the same thing but this video reminded me of that a lot...
Thank you. I was unsure of speed ghost’s effectiveness so I didn’t really practice on the one I knew existed. Now there’s one more thing that I understand better. Time for some improvement practice!
Nice video, you explained pretty well how to perform this trick. Also I'm surprised that you know spanish-speaking channels and even watched their videos, that's not common and I like it. Btw, did you watched the video about the different Fire levels in the game? It's actually insane
I don't know spanish but I was looking for speedghost guides earlier last month and a video popped up with an english title, but in the end its spanish. Thank god there's subtitles haha
Amazing video as usual... But i have a note... SG in hyper spaceways will prevent you from maintaining your blue fire from the super pads that launch you in the air whitch you can keep for a whole lap
You go at falling speed on the ground. The more frames on the ground the faster it goes away. Jumping limits the amount of frames on the ground, so it lasts longer.
I encountered the one in Roo's Tubes by accident once, then found myself unable to replicate it. After watching this video, I realize the reason is probably because I kept aiming for the turbo pad.
I don't know if this Speedghost thing is still in the game (after all, the game HAS received a patch or two, and the technique IS unintended), but even if it IS still in, I would strongly NOT recommend the Hyper Spaceway usage. Why, you may ask? Well, it is entirely possible to maintain Blue Fire off of that first ramp all the way to the NEXT Blue Fire ramp, right before the pipe section. Heck, you can keep it up the whole race! However, for that to happen you need enough reserves at the start so you don't instantly lose Blue Fire. Conventional drifting techniques can pull it off if done the whole way from the starting line to the ramp, but speedghosting? As you could see in the video, you LOSE Blue Fire right when you land afterwards! And as the Electron Avenue footage shows, it doesn't last that long even if you don't overwrite it with an intended boost level. Sacrificing Blue Fire for that entire stretch of the track for a mere second or two of SG doesn't make sense. Now, this is NOT the case with Nina's Nightride on the first lap, as there's a boost pad right where SG runs out, and ESPECIALLY not the case with Electron Avenue, where there's a Blue Fire boost pad right where SG runs out.
yeah its still in the game, I dont think it's going away. You can actually maintain your reserves on Hyperspaceway by drift boosting on the blue fire pad. I didn't do it on the video, just to simplify things
I discovered this thing yesterday in Android Alley, I kept the sacred fire all the race but I couldn't reach the first place because the guy was speed ghosting non-stop; when I saw him jumping everywhere and running faster than me without fire I got confused af.
Just so you know you can spew ghost off other players in online without losing fire it’s super rare and hard to do because the person you speed ghost off of needs to be going the same speed as you and taking the exact same routes or at least a small portion, but if you hop while right behind another player and if you’re both going fast you’ll basically get stuck to them for a short time and you’ll be floating in the air for a couple seconds and if you pay attention the more time you’re floating in the air the more speed you’ll build and if you cut left or right really hard real quick you’ll speed ghost off of that player getting a lead real quick which could be the difference between winning and losing and this of course only works if the other player either doesn’t use items or doesn’t have one at that moment because most people would just shoot you right away if they see you trying to do this so do it at your own risk!
That's so weird!!! Although they happen rarely, I have noticed weird jumps followed by a speed boost from nowhere. Like, last night racing N. Tropy at Crash Cove, I accidentally bumped into the very end of the bridge, and I somehow got bumped into the air. I'll makes notes of anymore I find!!!
7:45 - Why am I hear _We're Finally Landing_ by *HOME* ...? *_Summoning Salt presents: The History of Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled speedruns on Nina's Nightmare_*
1:38 you can actually keep the speed if you go over grass. The grass in this game is weird, at the same time it slows you down and with SGs and Blue Fire + SGs it keeps your speed and increases it.
6:03 holy, I just remembered that my cousin actually discovered speed Ghost as this exact way on electron avenue he was probably 7 and I were 9 back in Nitro Kart, he fucked up and went way beyond me instantly, we laughed so much because of the character getting ejected that much. I thought it was only a bug, but he kept doing it later to win the race, So I copied his technique, sometimes I would fall on the right side... Can't believe how advanced that technique actually was
Dude!!! Only a couple minutes into the video and I’ve been doing this unknowingly! I thought everyone did this it is really hard but yknow that’s maybe why I do exceptionally well online:)
Hell ya i had seen this being done, any info on wheel direction on impact? Like on ninas nightmare maby facing ur wheels to match curvature of the fence actually helping propell or ending the SG
Usually I would target the corners of my wheels to hit the fence. Not all SG are the same tho, electron Avenue one for example, it needs the rear right wheel to touch the invi wall
Need to get my a** off and practice Nina's Nightmare lmao but in terms of consistency is it easier than BB fence shortcut? Also I wonder if there's a chance of missing the SG trigger in NN if you collide with other karts -- like what if everyone (8 racers) go there. Great tutorial. Keep it up. 👌
Hey Kin thanks! Honestly BB Fence is much easier than NN SG for me. The timing is just insane and I'm not super precise on it. Colliding with other karts can be an issue too, because you can also get SG out of gliding on top of other racers, which is hilarious
Love your tips & tricks videos! So, me and friends at work are really into CTR recently. We have a PS4 pro at the office and we play this game a lot more than we actually work LOL. Just FYI we play 4 players and always with hard AI's and I think the only problem is we play with analog. Though we already know that most of CTR pro player are using the D pad, we just still can't get used to it and keep playing with analog. It turns out we can't do airbreaking and u turn :D I just wondering if you could please put the stick virtual on the screen on every tricks video so that we know when to press the buttons and feel the moment? It also will be great if you could play with analog while doing the tricks especially when doing airbreaking or u turn :D Thanks anyway!!
Well there are more types of fire in this game: the 3drift boosts each have a different type of speed, the different heights of jumps give different speed (from which 150+ and 200+ give better fire than the triple boost) then there are atleast 2 types of sacred fire and atleast 4types(probably more) of blue fire(which 4 are already represent in DSD) and some sg's are also slower than blue fire (as an example the start of roo's tubes) but nice video i think noone did that before :)
Thanks for the great vid. Heard of this but really hard to find good info on it. One thing with the editing, might just be me, but having the text come up with the blurred gameplay video in the back is a bit hard on the eyes. Example @3:04.
is there another track got have speed ghost chance? Only 3 tracks? If there is, which parts of which tracks? Could you publish a video about all speed ghost tracks that you know?
ok, since i saw this video, i failed not a single try of getting the speed ghost on electron avenue. all i had to know was, don't jump XD but the sg doesn't last long so i gain no time...
It is important that after u got the speedghost, dont jump yet until u are moving normally because sometimes your character will automatically jump really high up, giving u that instant boost and u will lose SG
That's it i have seen the video. The explanation for electrong avenue and nina's nightmare is great. But as far as hypersapce is concerned is the speed ghost really worth it ? I mean for the starting lap it means no blue fire of level one for at least half of the lap and for lap 2 and 3 it is even worse because it means loosing the blue fire level 2. So is it realy a good idea ?
Yes it is, because you CAN actually still get and maintain blue fire at lap 1. After doing the hop over the jump pad, immediately start drifting to build reserves on the blue fire pad (the huge jump). U will still get blue fire and you will he ahead of the pack
TheViperian hum alright I think I am going to practice on electron avenue. If you want a suggestion it would be great if you do a video for the speed ghost on tubes roo. I have try to perform it many times and I always failed. Performing this sg means beating an opponent who is not able to do it on this track.
@@TheViperian yes and did it really take this long to make this video This was mainly a theory video. If it was showcasing every SG then I would understand that it would take 3 weeks
@@Mr_MachoGlobe mainly I had trouble with filming SG because I'm not really that good at it 3 weeks ago. Also, it was a busy holiday for me, I dont even have time to livestream, let alone make a video lol
Hey, Viperian. I think this video needs to be updated. I tried doing the technique on Electron Avenue and it seems to no longer work anymore. Do you think they patched it or perhaps its just me. Im looking forward to see an update if it actually got fixed :)
Maybe its bugged. I tried just that. Ill try to describe my results, so i drift off the edge without jumping, and I move the kart to the corner of the track before I land. When the invisible wall pushed me back to the track, i still maintained my blue fire, hence it cancels the speed ghost. Any ideas? Edit: im using the Switch verson, and also thx for the fast reply :3
@@camiloordonez by right, your blue fire should be gone and speed ghost taken over. Honestly the switch version should be the same as well.. Oh, and make sure after u got ur speed ghost, dont immediately jump. Or ur boost will take over and speed ghost is gone
They messed up when making this remaster of the game. Original CTR was so well done. My favourite game but they added unnecessary stuff for this remaster.
Blue Fire 2 is much faster than Blue fire 1. Example of it is on Twilught Tour. There are 2 blue fire pads, and the 2nd one gives Blue Fire 2, which is much much faster. Test it out yourself !
At 4:27 you forgot to mention something. If you already have a certain speed and you touch a faster pad, the game will take the fastest speed. But for Speedghosting this is different
In the list at 3:50, the SG isn't the faster. I know another methot that is much much faster of SG, if you have blufire too, the kart will be uncrontrollable. Btw I don't like to use this type of glitch, i mean to touch a wall and get boost, it's cheating.
@@dauroRL You can find lot of video on youtube (WR, bug etc). Btw, SG in the above's list, is like blu fire, so have different speed mode, isn't everytime the same (for every track i mean). The faster i've see is on megamix, that's why i've writed about another method but it's even SG, just different type (tnt help).
