Speed puzzling against the best at World Jigsaw Puzzle Championship 2022 | My fail with dark pieces

20 days left until the World Jigsaw Puzzle Championship. Today I chose to assemble a 500 piece puzzle from last year’s competition, and see how would have I placed!

It seems like my three issues were (and are) that I don't see that I could already attach my "puzzle islands", I keep forgetting where my pieces are and I could pay a little bit more attention to details. However, overall I think I did good.
Speed puzzling was the best thing I found this year. I wonder how much faster I can still get before the game time in Valladolid, Spain. So beyond excited!

Thank you so much! However, I don't think my top 10 placement would be anywhere near this year since there are hundreds of more people coming this year. But we will see soon enough. :)

Wonderful video, thank you! ❤️ And congratulations for the great time! 🥳 Usually I flip and sort (edge pieces & something) at the same time, but I may have to try that full flip + something else than edge pieces. 🙂

Yeah absolutely! You may want to take time for both: 1) The full flip + then picking up edges (or other sorting you choose). 2) Your current strategy. And then compare which one works better! Since the end results are the same for both - just make sure you compare picking up the same pieces you would sort in your current strategy. And these times are comparable with the same puzzle since knowing the puzzle doesn't really do any improvement on these first steps (with some middle strategy comparison your second time would probs be tampered) :D

That was a very good time considering there were black dogs and flowers in that image. Have you ever done any abstract type images? For example Circular Forms by Robert Delaunay (1000 pieces) or Hoffman House Rug by Frank Lloyd Wright (500 pieces).

Thanks. You are right about the flowers and dog. I was sure either one would have been my downfall. And now that I think about it... I don't think I have any abstract puzzles in my collection. Maybe I will try one of those next. Thanks for the idea - I'm already excited!
