Great accurate presentation of these Speed Queen washers. As A 35 year experienced appliance tech I believe the Speed Queen TC5 models to be the best washer available today.
@@marksappliance A bit of advice to anyone reading this, I guess more wisdom, Buy ONCE, Cry Once. It may hurt the first time, but over the life of a really quality made product it's worth it. I learned this the OUCH method, quality tools work, right tool for the right task. Cheap tools will cause rounded off fasteners, which will in turn cause busted knuckles, which will cause you to bit your lip, your tongue, new words and then depending on the pain level, new word combos and could also cause said cheap tool to learn to fly, then bounce into something you didn't want it to, repeat cycle till clean or the wash, sorry pain is over. Also have to factor into downtime, repair cost, replacement cost over "X" number of years. Also Drew, I enjoyed your new briefer lack of polish, didn't feel like a used cars salesman feel of being oversold and underperform product pitch.
I would definitely get the tc5 model if they added the option to control your water level because me as a consumer do different loads of laundry. Say I have microfiber cleaning tiles that I use daily to clean and dust and whatever else around the house. Well it's quite a small load and of course you really aren't supposed to mix microfiber with other towels, especially ones that have cleaning products on them. So the tc5 in that category would be considered wasting water because you got a small load but it's filling ing almost all the way but if they added a water control option like they did the commercial Maytag, I definitely would be getting rid of my TR7 and going with a tc5 Plus I really don't like this perfect wash system because as quiet as the washer is there's times it doesn't really clean. Well cuz you don't have that rollover action. So you got clothes still sitting on top? Just trickling away while the clothes under are getting more cleaning action because it has more access to the water
I wouldn't agree with you 25 years ago. Commercial Quality is nothing more than a label... a label that sadly means nothing in most cases. For example, a regular Whirpool washer sold in any Appliance store surely wouldn't be up to the task of surviving a Laundrymat would it? The short answer is no... but they did it anyway and they have done it for years. Whirlpool Commercial Washer with coinbox CAE2745FQ 3.7 Cubic Foot Retails for $1,100 It is almost identical to their regular Washer but it has a setup for a coinbox and what they normally do is upgrade the motor to a 1/2 HP. In the older Direct drive Models the Residential High-end washers like KitchenAid washers and Kenmore Elite series would get the 3/4 HP motor like the Commercial but the rest of the parts in the unit were the same as residential washers. Commercial Quality? Really?.....YES... Speed Queen is the exception and not the norm! This New Speed Queen is a different animal than the older units. The Commercial Quality label far too often is a cheap marketing ploy but in the case of Speed Queen, it holds. Quite remarkable to see that in this day and age. Speed Queen (Older Model - AWN432SP111) The nightmare of Speed Queen... As a Technician of 30+ years I can tell you that the older Speed Washers were like a hybrid Frankenstein of Amana and Admiral Washers with a little Matag tears mixed in. I do not know one technician who liked these older model Speed Queen washers. To us technicians it was like an Amana Washer cheated with an Admiral Washer and Maytag messed him up. If you never worked on one they actually seemed like a 'Frankenstein' of washers and when they worked...they worked great. The problem was when something broke or started leaking it was normally a big repair. These were not fun to work on. Most repairs involved removing the entire unit from the shell flipping it over and working on it. Not ideal in many homes where the washer is not in a basement but in a closet or bedroom. Types of common repairs - They had a Thrust Bearing Assembly and I did many of those, rust was an issue. To stop the spinning tub they used a brake package and this was also to hold the inner basket from spinning during the wash cycle. If the brake pads went bad the washer would spin and wash at the same time causing floods. I did a lot of tub seal and tub bearings for noise and leaks. The other main issue was that the pumps would get a faulty center seal and weld themselves to the motor shaft causing the motor shaft to swell with rust and you could not get the pump off the motor. Just like that a pump and belt condemned another unit and this was a common theme for a while. Is it a Buy or Don't Buy? The new Speed Queen is a solid Buy! ... for the Washer. For the dryer, I would stay away from it and get the world's best dryer... a Whirlpool dryer with the lint filter on top. You could buy 2x Whirpool Dryers for the Prices I am seeing for a Speed Queen Dryer. That is crazy! These units made by Whirlpool have about a 7 Cubic foot-sized drum and retail for only $529 for the Electric and $629 for Gas Models. They have made this model for over half a century and they just last. If you had a Kenmore dryer with the Lint Filter on the Top surface you had a Whirlpool. Whirlpool Models Referenced from Whirlpool Website... Whirlpool Dryer Electric 220v Model WED4950HW $529 on sale at Whirlpool 7.0 Cu. Ft. Top Load Gas WGD5010LW Model WGD5010LW $629 A Speed Queen Washer and 2 Whirpool Dryers Looks amazing in the basement and the wife will Love You! Trust me I had 2 Washers and Dryers for many years. For the same price, you can get 2 dryers that will probably last a decade longer.
We purchased a TC5 about 9 months ago. It is the absolute best washer we have owned. Before this we had 2 front load that did not wash the clothes properly. With our TC5, the clothes come out very clean. Worth every penny we spent, yes they are more expensive but we don't regret purchasing this washer.
@@sauleomarova7730 I had six washers in eight years, Maytag, various avatars of the Whirlpool, a GE and an LG, none of which lasted a week past the warranty. Each time one broke down I went to the corner coin laundry, and noted that they had top-load Speed Queens, some twenty-five years old or more. They acually got my clothes clean. I checked the RU-vid videos and bought the TC5000 the first week they hit the market. Cleans better than any of the other machines I've had since my 1985 Maytag, and it has already outlasted the previous three machines.
Lots of info! I don’t even know why I’m watching these at 1AM, but now I want a new washer lol. I’m worried if I got a TC my clothes would get torn up because of the agitation but also because clothes quality nowadays sucks as it is.
It does have a gentle cycle, but I never bother with it. I think the risk of clothing being damaged is overstated. At least it doesn’t twist garments or tie them in knots like some of the other models do - I think that’s more damaging.
We've had ours for 12rys. Zero problems. The equestrian barn where my daughter keeps her horse, has a commercial SQ front loader... That machine does nothing but wash horse blankets, and been running everyday for the last 18yrs with no problems. There are 30 horses at this particular barn.
That is pretty amazing! I also supply washers and dryers to a local racetrack. I tell people the track is where they go to die. There are some cheap brands that are half rusted, and still keep working. I prefer to put in classic direct drive Whirlpools or a washer that might be tougher than SQ, the 2 belt Maytag. Wash on 🤘
@@gregorystatt5562 Hi Gregorystatt5562, are these models you mentioned in above thread available now in 2024? If so, where could I purchase them? Thanks for any advice. Jim
@marksappliance can ask you if in 2024 there is an actual mechanical tc5? I needed a black unit but those apparently don't exist but a local guy just told me the tr7 and tc5 both go to circuit boards behind the scenes, law, auto full etc. And not to be fooled by the knobs...I'm about to go mismatched and just get it white, but if this is true I'll get the tr7. Anything is better than samsung...
I bought my first Speed Queen in 1985. The machine was top of the line and I had it 18 yrs and gave it to my niece. I never had to call a serviceman. My daughter and sister have both purchased SpeedQueen after trying other machines that didn’t last long. As soon as I move I’ll buy another. I don’t want to move a SpeedQueen because they are very heavy machines
I had a speed queen for 10 years and loved it. When we moved the home we bought was a model home and came with a GE high end front loader and so we used that. In less than 3 years the front loader broke, when the repairman came out he said it would be more expensive to replace the part than to just get a new washer! Even though the GE washing machine had a 10 year warranty of course it didn’t cover the part that was broken. I am honestly glad it broke, I am excited to go back to a Speed Queen and have cleaner clothes and more peace of mind!
Because of the information you provided and how clearly you explained it, I purchased the TR7 washer and dryer last night. You answered all the questions I had been thinking about and I'm sick of having to replace a unit, at the most, every 9 years. Appliances aren't made the way they used to. My mother's dryer is 35 years old and still working perfectly! You just can't expect that anymore. Not going to lie, it killed me to spend the money, but I thought, I could spend $900 now on one washer or dryer and have to repair or replace it in a few years, or I spend the money now and won't have to. It's inconvenient to have to do that, as well. So thank you for your clear and concise presentation.
Thank you for this video!! You did a great job presenting the comparison. I have been trying to figure out these models for hours. Just made my decision so much earlier and better informed.
I've had a TC5 for several years having purchased it the first year it was on the market. I have no regrets. It is a classic top-load washer. It cleans well, uses enough water to rinse thoroughly, and is built like the proverbial tank. I wish it spun a little faster but other than that it is great. Also consider that SQ is sold by local dealers (profits stay locally) and built by US workers (good for the economy). They are pricey, but you do get what you pay for.
Bought a maytag commercial broke first wash same day it was delivered, got a replacement arrived broken, gave up and got a tc5 love it, built like a tank, had it now for 3 years.
I have a Maytag , bravo X. And sometimes I have to spin the clothes two times. I would love to get a speed queen cause I’m ready to throw this Maytag into the trash. We just keep trying to fix the bouncing tub and the crappy Springs. Wow sounds like me because I’m 73 now. I hope no one wants to replace me with a speed queen. But that might be kind of fun. Sorry I digress. Take care.
You’re a really good explainer who seems to know the products and their use cases well. I appreciate your steady, chill delivery and that you don’t “discriminate” or seem to personally favor one model over another in the line.
@@blackrifle6736 I think it has to do with the more complex automatic features, like determining the water level for you based on the weight of the clothes at the beginning of the cycle. Because of that, the machine can't allow people to interrupt the cycle without the machine knowing that the cycle is being interrupted. I would prefer that one be able to set the water level manually, but the US government has outlawed that on Energy Star rated washers. I also hate that warm water rinse cycles are outlawed by the US government (must use cold water rinse).
Great video! I really appreciate you breaking these models down. I have been searching for a good washing machine and I feel this is good American made quality. In the past 8 years I have had an LG top load with so many un used options, and a Maytag with so many bells and whistles......I just want a machine that will fill with water, wash my laundry and not break. Thanks SQ, for listening to the consumer.
I'm getting the TC-5! I'm a construction worker with 7 Amstaff Terriers a King Size bed and some cats! I had a Sears 5.4 top loader but the cabinet rusted out, bought a LG 5.4, a piece of crap! Spend hours washing and it barely removes the dirt! forget about the dog hair! If these are the same people that built the washers used in the Chicago Washaterias! Then I want one! They would remove concrete off my Carhartt's! And a drier! Need to be hooked up to quality people who sell these products in the Houston area! Thanks Byrne 👍
Excellent review on the Speed Queen TR/TC series washers! Keep up the good work! Are you going to review the Speed Queen DR/DC series dryers? I am curious.
Wonderful video Drew. Gonna throw down on some new speed queens as soon as the sun comes up. Other brands will never share our home. Taking the LG's out back to the shooting range for a proper send off. At least for once they will give us some pleasure. Long live made in the U.S.A...... just like my babies.
DNW…we also hated our LG top loaders. Biggest waste of money, useless, non-cleaning slow washer designed in pits of hell. My husband wanted me to donate it since it was less than year old when I could take no more. There was no one I hated that much and I REALLY wanted to shoot it as I had been threatening to do. We lived on remote acreage so he hauled it out back and I literally did use it for target practice. Then he hauled the remains to dump. It was a VERY satisfying experience. If you have a safe space, I say go for it!
I've had my TC5 for a year & I still love it. Best money I ever spent. People worried about drum size, I wash our Kingsize electric blanket in washer no problem!!
@Mark's Appliance I have a 1987 Maytag top loader that still works great that I bought used 8 years ago, but I would buy a Speed Queen if I need to buy new.
Our first SQ washer lasted about 30 yrs B4 the seal in the transmission began leaking oil into the wash tub and staining clothes. The only repairs were a new belt, and new brake shoes. Once it did lock up, but it was a child’s sock that got jammed in the water pump, which in the TC is driven by the same motor. It’s been 42 years now since we bought the matching dryer, and it’s still going strong. Replaced the gas valve solenoids once, two drum rollers, and it’s on a fourth set of felt drum seals. It looks weird sitting next to the replacement washer because of the fake wood grain on the control panel. Best, it’s still made in the USA! I may buy another pair just to have, in case the government bans the sale of non HE washers and dryers. It would be the last ones I’d ever own in my lifetime.
I know this is an older video, but it's just what I needed. Our 32 year old Kitchen Aid washer/dryer set has finally given up. Pretty sure we got our money's worth there. She was looking for the old school washing machine, because if it ain't broke don't fix it. It looks like the TC5 will be the washer that will give the the same great wash as the old Kitchen Aid series. And Speed Queen builds them like they used to be built. Plus it's made in America. I like that.
Great video, I tried to buy a Speed Queen in 2021 and none around, I ended up with a Maytag that crapped out. I am now the proud owner of a Speed Queen once it gets delivered, i can't wait to get it.
Great rundown on the SpeedQueen washers! Definitely will be going with one of these models when I build our retirement house. Thank god there’s still something made in USA 🇺🇸 with decent quality and without all the useless bells whistles and safety/eco-police garbage. So far have lucked out with our Maytag Atlantis. Fortunately I’m handy and combined that with the fact it’s still somewhat the old school design/construction. Cams, relays, no membrane touch pad bs. I’ve been able to keep it running 20 yrs now.
I just got rid of my older ge washer and the dryer broke and the part like 150 so i wasn't investing that into the unit. Anyway, I'm going with Samsung and I'm regretting it the more I look at brands lol. Is what it is though. 1500 doesn't buy you much anymore. If only we knew to stock about 1000 washer and dryers from 20 years ago, we'd of at least tripled our money because id pay current prices for a new old stock washer from 20 years ago for sure lol.
I have watched some other videos on Speed Queen and yours is very good. I have been thinking about SQ for 2 years, we bought a condo with an old washer/dryer. Getting ready to buy. For 2 people I do a lot of laundry, leaning towards the TC 5.
Great job I have a set AWNE92SP113TW01 I bought in 2017 best washer I’ve ever had never one issue none still looks new runs like a champ cleans you get what you pay for fills with water agitation old school but control pad
ive got a TR7 which gest the job done for the most part.. although sometimes I do wish I had harder action.. however my TR7 gets clothes so much cleaner than the front loader I had previous.. and it definitely is quiet and thus far in 4 years reliable..
This is absolutely the best presentation of Speed Queen washers I've seen out there. I love my Speed Queen and have had it for over a decade! Thanks for taking time to explain each model and what features/warranties they have. It's obvious you know what you are talking about. Great job!
would washing a king size comforter for example get "hung" up? haven't used aggitator style in over 30 years and I remember things getting "off balance" a ton and fighting with that issue ; deciding between the TC and TR
There are some benefits of the tr7 that I do like that you mentioned at the first part of the video such as you can soak the clothes as long as you like. You can even let it fill all the way up, cancel it out and change the cycle and the washer doesn't drain. It just keeps the same water in there. The only part I don't like about the tr7 is the perfect wash system. I've noticed it doesn't really clean as well as a traditional washer. Because there's really no rollover action. So the clothes aren't getting pulled to the bottom of the washer and going back up again. Even non-agitator machines still will pull clothes under the water and back up again. But the TR7 and the TR series seem not to do that so you can have clothes sitting on top that aren't really getting clean cuz they're not getting pulled under. I actually just watched your commercial Maytag video and that's something I may look into cuz it's still commercial grade and with that 5-year warranty, but it has that traditional wash action with rollover And yes I love the autofill setting on speed Queen. They need to literally brand that as something like true since autofill because it will really fill to the precise load level unlike Whirlpool where it's a preset feels the speed Queen. I do love on that aspect of it has a true autofill
Hello Drew! I just watched your video on Speed Queen washers. I will say that you gave the best review on these washers that I have viewed. You are are very thorough and I really appreciate it. You answered questions I had. Keep up the good work. Yes, I will buy one.
Excellent video, young man! I just bought a Maytag washer and dryer from Mark’s last year but if/when they give out I will definitely check out these Speed Queens. I’m assuming Speed Queen makes a dryer as well.
They make everything. Top loader, front loader, electric dryer, gas dryer, industrial. If you want a longer warranty, for a few bucks more you can extend it to 10 years parts & labor. Speed Queen has always stood behind their products. Rather than requesting assistance from a mega corporation, you deal with local dealers. Parts are readily available and with a repair manual, most can repair their own machine.
The only 2 negatives I have on my new Speed Queen TC series is that the motor hums way louder on the spin cycles than any other Speed Queen or commercial washer I've ever owned. The second negative is that the water stops filling the tub when you lift the lid, which if you like to take your liquid laundry cup and dilute out the detergent thoroughly in the water stream and also rinse your dispenser cup clean, you have to engage the service override mechanism on the back of the machine with a folded up piece of cardboard so that the machine thinks the lid is closed.
Omg that drives me crazy too I can't rinse my lid of dumped detergent. And explain how you mix the bleach in the water before adding clothes. I kinda hate my TR7 for these 2 reasons.
Greetings, just found your. Channel. We purchased a tc5 about 4 days ago and we love it. Great video and explanation on speed queen products. Your video just mafe us even more confident we purchased the right washer. Thank you!!
Buyer’s remorse for me - I wish I had bought the TC5 and not the TR7. That gentle washing action, on the TR7, leaves a lot to be desired. It’s quiet and has a lot of features but I miss the agitator. 😏
Just purchased a set of TR7s. You cannot hear the washer run unless you are standing over it. Then you hear the water movement but not any of the mechanicals. It is quieter than my LG dishwasher, crazy right. The TR7 says Commercial right on the front, and I believe it. Queeen size blankets are not a problem. I replaced 23 year old Kenmore's, which worked great, not efficient, but great. However I cannot get the part needed to fix the washer so I replaced them. Any Speed Queen model is a great choice. It's about your wash preferences. Another great feature is they are not sold in box stores, so the little guy still has a chance.
Thank you so much for the education on Speed Queen. We had Speed Queens in our previous house but the new owners wanted the set so we left them. Trying to research washers now, but my heart belongs to Speed Queens. And now I know why! They are the best!
We had a multi-featured big box store top loader which would not clean clothes. With the miserly eco water control and impeller our clothes never got clean. Bought a TR7- allows you to use all hot water if needed, you control the water level, agitates the clothes enough for cleaning yet does not destroy bras or shirt buttons. This is how clothes should be washed. Well worth the money.
We bought a TR7. It's hands down the best washer we've ever had! It cleans very well. Quiet. Our clothes seem to be lasting longer. Our dog blankets come out clean. Solid and built like a tank. There seems to be no way this thing can go out of balance. Our last machine, an LG was FOREVER going out of balance and not finishing loads. Clothes were dirty. I can't say enough about the TR7. If you're leaning towards it, buy it, you won't regret it.
No offense but ive been repairing machines and have come to find several of the newer models have issues. Broke baskets, bad mother boards all kinds of things i wouldn't think this company would have on machines with in 2 or even less years of use. I like the pre 2016 machines they seem to have gone down hill. You probably sell them, great video but i see the other side. I repair them and have seen more and more of them falling. Just being honest.
I wish I’d known Speed Queen before purchasing a Samsung top loader 5 years ago. What a steep learning curve it was going from a traditional agitator washing machine to an HE machine- learning how to manipulate the cycles to get your clothes slightly clean was a chore! After having to disassemble it at least once a year to clean out the sludge & slime that collects inside the impeller, hubby took it apart for the last time- all the bolts broke taking the washtub out for cleaning. While it can be fixed, I AM DONE! Going to replace it with a speed queen and hope to never experience the frustration of having your clothes come out of the machine dirtier then when you put them in ever again! Thank you for the informative video- pretty sure we’ll be happy with whatever we choose, altho I’m leaning towards the TR5
Thanks for a very informative video. I really like the TR model with the perfect wash, it looks like it would be less rough on clothes. Anyone have an opinion on this? Need to decide which one I am buying
Interesting technology on the TR series. I don't have a Speed Queen but I hear they are the No. #1 brand. I have a classic agitator machine for heavily soiled items and a portable impeller machine for lightly soiled items.
Hello Drew, thank you so much for your video on the speed queen. We definitely would love one, but wanted to know do they make front loaders? Thank you again for your time and expertise. God bless you and your team.
TC5 model and put in the cork screw agitator would be even better.I wish they would stick with the classic timer where you turn the dial and you can select wash 14 12 10 rinse or spin and let it go from there.
I don't know, I have a Kenmore front loader large capacity and I can't see blankets done in those small toploadrs. We had a speedqueen before and it was great. I do not have an oder problem. I leave the door open between uses.
The delay feature is useful for places with electric rates that vary by time of day. It can be significantly cheaper to run in the middle of the night.
I got a dishwasher with a 2, 4, 8 hour delay setting which I thought was a ridiculous feature at the time. But I find I use it ALL the time now. As LatitudeSky said this can really save on electrical & in my case also water consumption costs by being able to start the appliance at the right time.
I once calculated that I'd washed over 5000 cloth diapers back in the day (50 years ago) using a Maytag washer that had the same features as the TC5 SQ. The diapers were thrashed around via that center spindle and were clean! That machine went to washer heaven about 13 years ago so we bought a SQ that had the same desirable spindle wash action. Dirty dog/cat blankets, farm work clothes, delicates - no matter what items go into the washer, they comes out clean and fresh smelling. I'll add that we have TWO Great Pyrenees dogs - heavy Spring shedders!!
I watch this video got all type of clarity and forgot to give you guys props. I am so glad that you explain this because you basically let those of us who thought all hope was lost know that the old-school traditional washer still exists. It’s just shrouded in different labels so that Speed queen can be compliant. For most of us , the TC5 is what we’re looking for
I feel the same way. Just called Lowe’s to pick up a set of new Maytag we purchased. Terrible machines. I just bought them during 7/4 sale. Time to find me some Speed Queen machines.
@@espianmashias9565 I believe you'll like the SQ. I got the TC5, as I wanted as close to I could get to the old Kenmore I had. I don't like these new-fangled electronic machines with all the tones they play. So far, other than a problem from the delivery company dropping the machine & cracking a ring under the bottom, I do love the washing machine!! The dryer is good, too, but you could probably do just as well with a less expensive dryer. The DC5 doesn't seem as hot as my old Kenmore, which I loved!!
Great video! Does anyone have feedback on which model is the best for washing bedding (comforters)? Any issues with the TC5 destroying delicate clothing? I do a ton of washing due to kids, and animals/farm life.
My junk front-load Samsung totally cratered after two years and two weeks after the warranty expired. I'm not sinking one penny into to it, instead, I'm buying a Speed Queen.
Purchased a TC 5003 just as the plandemic was busting out. Was tuff scouting one out..dealer's had tr3, tr5, tr7 no TC 5003 ol skool classic...finally tracked one down...bought it same day never looked back...
I do at most, 1 load every 6 days (because my work schedule is 4 on 2 off so 1 of my 2 days off I do laundry). Anyway, this would last me a 1000 years.
@Mark's Appliance lol. What's ur serious opinion (I know what opinions are, we all have one lol) of Samsung? My only reason for potentially going this route is, I'm getting them in white (which easier find as a lot of stores are out of colors that look nicer) and top load because im cheap but im going to spend a little extra and get one with an agitator just because I want my clothes clean and don't wanna worry about how its balanced in there among other things. Anyway, I know a few years ago, they had severe rust issues, which even led to recalls that people were able to swap out of their units (2015-2018 seems to be the majority of the issues). I can get stuff from Best Buy and pay next to nothing for the warranty (i know someone there) and get a discount, which is nice enough to make it just above a 1 grand for a washer 5.1 cu ft and dryer 7.4 cu ft washer is a smart version (id prefer it not be) the dryer is not a smart version that im going to get. Anyway I've hear good bad and everything in between. Will it be fine for my scenario of rarely using it? If I had 2 grand ish, Id absolutely go with a speed queen or something of this caliber. Or at least commercial versions of the big brands just to get something good. Fyi i know I'm not getting the best or anywhere near it.
@@todtalk3912 Hi Tod, I apologize if I'm too late to respond and you already made a decision on your washer purchase, but my serious opinion of Samsung falls more in line with their refrigeration, which is just horrendous. We've had plenty of our customers by Samsung from a big box store, only to turn around 3 years later and get something else from us because it's hard to find someone to service their products (we're the only servicer in 25+ mile radius from us) and their parts are expensive and hard to get once they need replaced. That's kind of across the board with their appliances. Parts are harder to get than most other brands, and their customer service is pretty much non-existent (not that other brands aren't much better, they're corporations after all, but at least parts are much easier to get). If you haven't made a decision yet, in your price range, I like GE's PTW605 in either white or grey. They recently re-introduced GE Profile laundry, and it is a solid product for the price.
Thank you for this video! I tried to get this information online but Google is so bad now, trying to make money but not serving the users, that I couldn’t find it. Fantastic. I love that TC 5. Has everything I wanted.
Best comparison review I have seen. Is there any information on the specific difference in the loudness of TC5 vs TR5? 43 decibels for TR5 and what for TC5?
Awesome review Drew!! Speed Queens (esp the TC5) are well known within the cloth diapering community for being the best washing machine for poop and pee haha.
TR7? Was it a Triumph? ;) My parents always bought Speed Queen because they had the one piece, deep drawn, stainless steel tubs and used less water. The tubs didn't have all the holes so they didn't sit inside an outer tub. In the spin cycle all the water was forced up and over the top edge of the tub. But when Speed Queen went away from that their washers were just like everyone else's with the perforated tub sitting inside a bigger tub.
Those old Speed Queens with a non-perforated spin basket absolutely did have an outer tub. The input hose to the pump connected to it. The spun-out water would go onto the floor if there wasn't an outer tub to catch it.
How rough is the TC5 on clothes? Are we talking holes in linen and cotton? Would washable silk be ok on the delicate cycle in a wash bag? I’m wanting to strip towels with a long soak. I’m guessing the TC5 would work really well for that?
This looks like it SUCKS! Poor Speed Queen, how the mighty have fallen. This can be said about ALL of the big names that made better quality in the past. Speed Queen, Maytag, Whirlpool, everything is absolute trash now.
TC5 is easily the best machine in the SQ line-up. I bought one- and did not consider a TR as they do not clean as well. They know this so they extended the wash time to about 1 hour- and it still does not clean as well as the TC5 in 30 minutes. TC5 I can open lid mid wash, let clothes soak. NOT avail. in TR models. TR- too much electronics- easier to break. Compare weights too. TC5 is 200lbs. of quality. Turn off water after every wash. I bought 1/4" color coded adapters- easy to hook up. Do not use fabric softener and use very little HE liquid detergent.
@@foghornleghorn8536 Yes. What did you not understand? This is a basic thing most people do. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tR50vrnCShs.html&ab_channel=ThisOldHouse
I agree I wish I knew I could not open up the lid mid cycle or beginning cycle and how the hell do you add bleach so it doesn't get on your clothes when you cannot let it agitate and then add the clothes? I am so mad I bought this TR7
I went in to purchase a TC5 today and wound up getting the TR5. The salesman convinced me it was the better of the two. They deliver it next week. Im excited. Wish me luck🤞🏽
You mention the exact decibels of the TR, but not the TC5. You just say the TC5 is not as quiet. Well, how much noisier is it in decibels compared to the TR7? How does the soak cycle work on the TC5? Can you determine how low the clothes soak on a TC5?
@Mark's Appliance I was coming off my old washer whirled pool .. had since "95" I did enough research... but I was limited when this house was build the door way was 25.5 inches .. the only thing that fit was a insignia.. smh .. im not going to complain... im great full .. I just now know things are different in a major way
3.2 cu ft is just plain smallish no matter how you color it. Not sure how you can fit comforters in it. Not saying I wouldn't buy one, but saying it has faster cycles so you can do two loads in a SQ as opposed to one in a larger machine doesn't really cut it for me.
I have a speed queen needing a new one. After 21 years I would never change it for anyone other name. But it got rusty. And I recommend it highly. Speed queen is awesome!
Is there a dryer w. steam that "goes with" a TC machine? Do the Speed Queen TR models spin out any more water than the other toploads to reduce drying time? Nice video BTW.
Great laundry equipment by far . Pricey yes but you get what you pay for . If I had to replace My washer & dryer I’d go SQ all the way! . There’s a laundromat in My area that has SQ equipment! That should tell you something.
Based on this review I did purchase the TR7 not being delivered until the 1st. Do you have any reviews on the companion dryer? Did not buy the dryer yet but might based on a review.
I purchased a new GE top load washer last year and what a piece of garbage it is !!!! I’m pissed at myself because after the purchase price , 2 year extended warranty and delivery I paid out close to $ 900.00 !!! yesterday I wash 10 extra large mens white tee shirts . I carefully made sure that they were spread out evenly and after all that it obnoxiously fell out of balance and practically danced across my basement floor !!!! I’m done !!!! Whoever wants it they can have it !! I’m shopping now for a new SQ !
My Speed Queen TC5 was delivered from my local old school mom-n-pop appliance store three weeks ago and even in its simplicity, it's everything I could ever want in a washer. This SQ replaced my 12 year old Kenmore front load which had all the bells and whistles. However, in the twelve years I had it, my front load broke down five times. About six years ago, I even had to have the computer board replaced and with this final service call, the motor had died and would cost $600 to replace (oddly enough, I've never had a problem with the matching 12 year old Kenmore dryer -- not even one service call!). I don't miss my front load at all. IMO, front load washers are crap! I wanted a "old school" washer like the ones I grew up with in the 1960s/70s so I passed on the computerize TR series with all its be and whistles and got the TC classic! My laundry is now clean and fresh-smelling -- something that was missing with the so-called "energy efficient" front load with the smell and the moldy gaskets that had to constantly be cleaned. I'm 62, and if true to the quality of the brand, my TC5 will be the last washer I'll ever have to buy, and it may even outlast me! Yes, SQ is expensive -- but worth every penny.
Unfortunately, most people only buy appliances based on how they look. I won't buy front load wahsers, just because you get a max of 2 years before they absolutely wreak. If you get it cleaned and seal replaced, well, ur out a bunch of money anyway. To me, they are money pits. Fronts loads are effective, efficient, and def great in the operation of them. To me, ur washing clothes for them to be clean, front loads most people dont leave the door wide open to let them dry out. Top loads everyone does, so I think you easily get twice the time out of top vs front load washers. I just bought new washer and dryer. I wish I knew this brand existed. I live alone and wash small loads so its irrelevant what I use. I think what I got will last.
I have a 5-y.o. TR3 and began having troubles a month ago. No garantee left so it already cost me 300$ for a new locker, and the machine needs again to be fixed... 😭
Its the front-loaders that shine through. They have the same high quality parts as the top-loaders do but clean significantly better. you need to showcase these models.
Thank you for the great review! Excellent point regarding capacity - love the analogy of a bag of chips full of air. Also, how nice this product is 100% made in the USA.
