@@erickmanueldeazeredoborges2059 That was the most horrifying one for me. The context of this is the water is boiling acidic water from a volcano, and it was already established it wouldn't be an instantaneous death but an extremely painful one. So that was him realizing in a split second, the horror of what was about to happen to every inch of his body. But you sociopaths think differently than we humans do.
Also the jet just causally takes the car and Speed Racer (I think that’s who else is in the car) without even screaming for help, dude really wants to betray him like that- 💀
I grew up watching Speed Racer as a kid. I didn’t realize how strange some of the episodes (e.g. racers casually dying, the antics of Spritle and Chim Chim, people jumping out of cars going 90mph) were at the time, but now I think the weird dialogue and action scenes are what make it endearing. But I understand why so many people think it’s bonkers 😂
You did? As someone who's only seen the memes, I'm curious to know if he really steps on the gas after Trixie's midrace pitch or if it's just a good edit
@h31212 Oh, he did. But the context of the episode is more complicated than that. This is EP 42: The Desperate Race. The brother (racer) has been a dick to Speed, this was what made Speed ignore any "excuses" even though he did offered to help alot previously. Long story short Trixie sabotaged the ending by stealing the pineapple in Speed's car (Required as a token to be kept at all times in order to qualify) and told ChimChim to hide it somewhere else. Of course the brother won and managed to earn the cash to save the girl however he still did not like Speed. Put it this way: if someone new joins the league and you offer him your help even though it is out if your way yet that person refuses it rudely, I won't lie I wouldn't give two fucks about his personal problems if it surfaces. Serves him right. Source: some guy in the comments.
Haha yeah Spritle and Chim Chim... this show was funny af and quite clever at times, like that Wacky Races. To make a cartoon about racing interesting... it's gonna need weird shit.
If you're not jumping out of a car at full speed after seeing a scorpion on you're shoulder then you're doing it wrong Remember Stop, Drop and Roll? It's like that I guess without the stopping part.... but I mean, you'll get to that eventually so I guess don't worry about it yet
I watched a lot of speed racer growing up and people used to not believe me when I told them how violent it was. Speed haa gotta have one of the highest killcounts of anime protags.
That's how you deal with bullies in Latin America. You got a fight, somebody stop it (a teacher), both get a punishment and both are friends in the same punishment.
I remember that my grandparents bought me the entire series on DVD and that I binged the whole thing over a summer on my little buzz lightyear vcr TV. But I would have to steel my parents dvd player so that I could watch it in my room with my bionicle collection. That was a nice summer.
Speed Racer is a lot like Daniel Plainview from There Will be Blood. He's an insecure, hyper competitive sociopath who destroys everyone in his path. "I have a competition in me. I want no one else to succeed. I hate most people." Very similar to how Speed is willing to let a young girl die to win. Not to mention how Speed gets offended and angry at Sparky when Sparky simply tried to warn him. He is so insecure that he perceives a warning as questioning his courage. It's similar to how Daniel is offended by another oilman whom he thought was trying to tell him how to run his family.
1:34 jumping out of a moving car to escape from a scorpion, then finding it and beating it to death with your helmet, and then getting your friend to stamp the broken bits of scorpion into powder.
I watched the episode with Trixie’s dream sequence at least 40 times as a kid (had it on VHS, and didn’t have much else to watch). I still have no idea what was going on in that scene.
The reason why the dub is so weird is because the translator had about two days to write all the dialogue for each episode. The dubbing actors had just about as much time to dub it too.
Madman Peter Fernandez translated, wrote, edited, directed and starred in the thing. There was only three voice actors, including him. Dude was doing 20 jobs at once in a 2 day schedule. It’s a miracle it turned out as well as it did
@@deagogl2843 Bulma met him when he was like 5....Goku looks at her like a mother and Bulma at Goku like a younger brother , he is about as likely to hurt her as he would flying nimbus
