before: 90 words a minute after: 150 words a minute im 16 years old and reading has always been a struggle for me, i have always wanted to finish reading a novel but couldn't. now i feel like i can finally do it without just listening to audio books. this actually helped alot, i honestly wasn't expecting anything. thank you!
@@muxammad2777 When you are able to do certain things dramatically more productively and boost the performance of your brain to a whole new level, you can truly achieve a lot. I have been working way more concentrated, since I have started training my focus, which works almost like a muscle. In addition to that, I have integrated a lot of little details to my day, which might not initially seem big, but eventually have their big effects. All of this changed my life and will in the years to come.
My first read was about 160 words, it’s kinda low. The second time I did this I read 260 words. I did get better focus at times but also lost a bit comprehension at others. Also got too excited cause I did not believe I could read this fast and yea lost track lol. More than anything I am excited to implement this into my readings from here on. Thank you for a very pedagogical teaching on Kwikreading
Same thing for me. 150wpm to 235wpm. found myself thinking that I was reading faster while following my finger rather than reading. But when I was reading, it did feel like I wasn't comprehending as much. I could easily move my finger fast and stream all the words in, but they weren't sticking. I assume I need to move my finger slower to strike the balance of speed and comprehension.
Amazing. I am in my fifties and it is never too late to do anything better. I have always been a slow reader and felt, "If I could only read faster..." Voilá! Here you are. My first round was 156 words per minute and my second one was 252. Now I just have to get faster! Thank You!
my god i went from 132 to 324😭 this is incredible, thank you! i never was one to read books when i was little just bc of how long it would take me, but these days i have been taking more interest in reading more books, so my results from this are very exciting! again, thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world!
Hi Jim, Reading speed before using hand: 190 WPM. Reading speed after using hand: 438 WPM. By the way, I do have your course from ages ago, and its my father's one, and I truly did more than quadriple times this speed, I'll probably use it again later on, because I have exams now, I just needed a speed reading technique, because we have to read so much information in a small amount of time.
As someone who suffers with severe ADHD, I really appreciate this video simply because I am terrible at reading letters such as bills etc and it leads to me letting it pile up. For the initial reading exercise the nearest thing I had to me was a letter from the council and I found my words to be about 130 a minute which is pretty low and probably why, despite having written a novel, I’ve always struggled to read long books. Thank you!
Hey William I am in exactly the same boat, as yourself I could write undisrupted for hours but reading makes me so frustrated as I know my ability is so much greater than my performance. Have you found anything substantial in your journey?
@@OisinMcGrath1916 bless yeah it’s an odd state of mind cause sometimes you’ll be able to focus for hours but sometimes your mind will be drifting all over the place and it’s difficult to know when it’ll happen. I try and write as much as I can on those days where I go into hyper-focus but if I’m having an off-day I’ll set just 15 minutes aside to try and get something written down cause you never know what idea you might have. In terms of reading, I’ve found that due to my background in film production I can often concentrate on something if I’ve seen a visual adaptation of it first (a lot of people are the opposite), though the longest books I can honestly say I’ve read are the first three A Song of Ice and Fire novels… I still haven’t got through the fourth and fifth haha! The internet is a great tool for people like us though thanks to videos such as these! 🙂
I know man, podcasts and audiobooks as well. I too have found writing incredibly revelational but as I write this, I truly haven't been writing like I should. It makes sense of all the chaos in your thoughts. Might I recommend, to try some different genres. Being sort of dysfunctional at times with my mental health I have a massive interest in healthcare and self help. Self help books are very interesting, historical books, sometimes even horrible books. The Gulag Archipelago is hard to read, but an important lesson and grips you from start to finish. I don't regret reading it at all. Fear and horror almost grips you throughout.@@WilliamReginaldLucas
I started with 260 words per minute, but using the underlining technique, my speed increased to 330 wpm, AND my comprehension improved! Wow, thank you Jim Kwik!!🤯🤗
Lucky. I started at 76 per minute and now im still the same. My problem is understanding what im reading, which slows me down so far. I can read fast but I dont grasp anything unless I slow it down to 67.
Thanks for creating such wonderful and useful content. i reached from 198 to 252. Looking forward to reaching more than 500 words per minute. Again really appreciate the work 😊
First attempt with following my finger using no practice round yielded a 25% improvement: baseline 264 wpm increased to 330 following my finger. Impressive! Thanks for the introductory video.
Hey,Jim! Been following you since I saw you on Impact Theory in 2014. I love your teachings very much, thank you so much for sharing ❤ I just recently finished your book Limitless and I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to reviewing it and putting the things I learned into practice.
Now It feels like I’m basically cheating in reading when using Jim Quik’s method of reading! My reading improved more than 100%, and yet I still understood what I was reading!! Edit: Yet, I’m only 13!
Wow, I went from 160 words to 200 words/minute. I grew up in Korea so I often studied my textbooks word by word and sentence by sentence with a dictionary. I also read out loud because of needing to hear and learn difficult/foreign words coupled with an attempt to focus. Learning this, I think it's safe for me to let go of those habits. Thank you!
the finger technique enhanced my speed so much, i am baffled… feeling like it instantly unlocked a good 35% speed increase. i have always been an average reader (felt i was on the slower side since i’ve known people who read so fas) but i still love to read. i’ve been reading for so many years, dense books, that’s i’ve forced my speed to increase, so this boost only compounded on that and i’m shredding through my reading now 🤯
Before: 275 wpm After : 285 wpm I'm trying to improve my reading skills further, especially with my comprehension and focus, because I easily get distracted. Thank you so much, Jim Kwik!
About vocalization that lets you slower, I think regardless of the speed its so helpfull and beneficial, since reading loud will make you more focused and hard to be distracted by your thoughts, also it increase your ability for remembering what you read, because your brain will be saving info through eyes and ears, and not through only one way, so this helps your brain saving info more effectively. What I want to say is that the benefits are more than negatives.
before: 180 words per minute after:280 words per minute I'm and I've always had bad focus. This is especially true with reading, which has always been very hard for me to deal with since english is one of my favourite subjects, to the point where I took English as my A level. Even though I worked really hard, I was by far one of the slowest in the class and everyone who actually cared about learning was way ahead with what looked like an easy workload for them. I also have ADHD which has been a big part of my life. I have many friends with other conditions like ADHD and Autism and they can read much better than me, which feels very demotivating. However, I'm really glad that I've found this channel because it gives me hope that I do not have to suffer all the time with these activities like learning and talking and listening and reading and whatever else. Thank you Jim :)
My first time through, I read 253 words/minute. The finger method boosted the second time through to 374 words/minute!! 🤯 Thank you so much for this! It will be so helpful!
Boy, he has created an addict here that learning how to read is correctly is of critical importance. I did this for the first time and I don't think my comprehension was any worse probably better since my brain didn't wander. The big step will be this sub vocalization that I have been doing for number of years but I can't wait.
i do read slowly because i vocalize what i read so that is why i am so slow on reading , i tried the technique with the finger that yielded 187 words per minute i was impressed
The underlying distracted me from other distractions and allowed me to focus on what was coming next. ☺️ Now wait to see me following the lines with my finger when I am reading in the underground on my way to and back from work 😅☺️
The finger helped a lot I’ve been struggling turning off the sub vocalization but my finger was just moving too fast that it stopped I went from 380 a min to 700 and I understand everything fyi it was a children’s book so nothing complicated but I’m super excited
Thank you Jim, using this tape I increase my reading skills by 25% using finger. And I'm still using other advice to practice everyday, have a good day🙌
I have done twice faster than at first so i deciede.from this day,its 12:51am 2/12/2023, i have seen magic.I choose you Jim Kwik as my academic trainer. am from Uganda African doing a masters degree immunology and clinical microbiology .jus5 days to my first exam.
What's your percentage increase? Mine was 35.6%. From 196.5 to 266.5! If you don't know how to calculate the percentage changer, here's how (using my numbers): First: work out the difference (increase) between the two numbers you are comparing------266.5-196.5=70 Then: divide the increase by the original number and multiply the answer by 100. % increase = Increase ÷ Original Number × 100-------70÷196.5x100=35.6% (DO NOT HIT = UNTIL AFTER YOU MULTIPLY)
Wow this is amazing thank you I love what you do and how you are able to show ordinary people like me what we can achieve with work and effort of course.
I went from 201 to 230 that's not a much progress because I tired but this method is very good, the second one I understand better and feel more productive. I go forward to it 🌟
By doing this suggested technique at the end of a video I read 14 lines more ; which is approximately 140 words per minute more than my first take at the beginning of the video ( if 1 line = 10 words approximately)
Thank for this mini ckass on reading speed. I started with 211 and with the visual pacer, a pencil for me, 273 wpm. I just calculated, a39.83% increase.😊
Amazing! So, I was an avid reader up until about 10 years ago. This year I have read 2 books 😅 however, when I tried your technique, it worked - amazingly! I went from 264 wpm to 372!! I’m convinced! Thank you!
I got my average reading speed at 50 word per min 😢😢😢 the book I am reading is the 48 laws of power and English is not my main language but I Google the worrds that I don't know maybe one day I will be fast .
He did it again.. First it was to help me remember and now to read faster. Lol Without my fingers I read about 154 words with my fingers I read about 455 words. I did'nt even believe I could read this fast.
