I got into one of the top public universities with a very competitive major without being involved a lot in community college. So, how did I do it?
Let's sit down and talk about the stats that I applied as a transfer student, such as my background information, courses, extracurriculars, and so on!
Sorry that I've been posting so much UCLA content or content about my application, I'm just hoping that putting this out into the world can help other people when applying for their dream school (y'all better have started your applications and not do them last minute I swear to Korea Jesus-)

I am a student at SMC at the moment. I almost done writing about my life in 250 words. I'm most likely going to UCLA, and I'm tired.

From one SMC student to another, I recommend you go to the Drescher Hall English tutoring center and have your essays proofread by Caron. She is the GOAT and helped me write the best essays. She may be slightly intimidating at first, but she knows what she's doing and is the sweetest. If you do see her, tell her I said hi!

Why is communications a competitive major? When I think about competitive majors, isn't it usually a Engineering, Business, Nursing, Pre-Med Majors, and for UCLA Film? P.S. I went to UCLA a couple of decades ago. Graduated with a Poli Sci Degree. Definitely not a competitive major.

At UCLA it is, especially for transfers. (Source: I go to the same school as she did.)

Those majors are still pretty competitive at UCLA (especially film; they have a 2% acceptance rate). However, the reason why Communications has gotten so competitive over the years is that it is a broad degree that can get you many jobs such as marketing, social media, PR, journalism, film & television, etc. (according to people I've met in life with communications degrees).

Super flexible degree, short major at UCLA, can help prepare a student for many different kinds of careers outside of STEM. Communications majors are usually pretty happy with their major in my experience lol; the program here at UCLA is kind of hard to get into because of the sheer amount of competition
