oh boy how impressed you would be of the custom keyboards community if you get satisfied with this. Soon you will discover the world of krytox 205g lubed gateron black inks hitting the polycarbonate plate with those amazing double shot abs GMK keycaps and the thoccy sounds of a durock plate mounted stabs lubes fully and thoroughly on a 60 percent keyboard made with the premium build of a keycult.
Tyler Evans' mark about typing a love letter on a typewriter and how it sounds like war was spot on and funny :) don't get me wrong, I treasure my grandfather's facit typewriter and I like your video very much :)
Or use a product we have to use here in Latin America called Radex Paper, basically is White-Out but in little leaflets, You put the leaflet in front of the paper and press the key to correct (the same key of the error), and type over
Jesus Christ, imagine working in one of those letter writing places in WWII where the women would write letters with typewriters to the parents of soldiers who were killed. It's just this times 30
you can adjust the margins on almost all typewriters, there's no such thing as "specification of the typewriter" for wide margins, you just made that up.
Same for keyboards, they are still in the format of the keys of typewriters. Same with the shift key. Because you used to shift the bar in a typewriter.
Wow, I love typewriters because I am a vintage lover, I asked my dad to buy me one of these metal ones but we couldn’t find them anywhere... you are lucky, sir...
Something amazing happened at an assembly at my school. Someone in my year was asked to play a typewriter as an instrument in an orchestral performance. It was amazing.
That is amazing and I love the sound they make and the old book smell of the antique ones, so awesome. I have funny little switches on the front of mine but I can't figure out what they are for. One is vertical with a black dot, silver dot, and red dot. The other is vertical with numbers 6 through 0 on it... any idea? anyone?
I have no clue for the vertical switch which is numbered. As for the three coloured dot switch, it is in fact to position the ribbon to the colour that you want to type in. For example: I have a ribbon that is split in two colours (which is sort of a standard by the way) it's half black on the upper part and half red on the lower part, switching to the black dot will make you type with the upper part of the ribbon and switching it for the red dot will make you write with the lower part. There are of course many variations of ribbons out there. You can find some that are plain black( which will make you write in black either way), some that are green on the upper part and yellow on the lower part and so on. As for the white dot or silver dot (the one in the middle), it is a special mode called stencil which is useful for correcting mistakes : it uses neither parts of the ribbon so that you can place a correction paper between your draft and your character hammers in order for you to type the same character over your mistake and it will make your desired character "disappear" from the sheet of paper your were working on.
Oh! that is cool. Thanks a lot for the info. I am really quick with a keyboard and hope to become quick with a typewriter. Really need all the info I can get as I am so very new to working typewriters.
The switch is a color switcher. There were special types of ribbons which came in multiple stripes of color (black, red, and white), though it does nothing on black-only ribbons. It only slightly switches the alignment of the ribbon.
This is amazing!!!! Thanks for sharing... For those who were born in year 2000 you might be wondering how did people in those days delete the errors.. Lol.. There are 2 ways : 1) take the paper out.. Make a ball.. And slam dunk into the bin! 2) use Liquid Paper.. This is how liquid paper appears in the market.. To correct the typewriter errors.. Not pen!!!! So..please appreciate the good old times when the typewriter has no backspace, delete, alt tab, ctrl, etc but they do have shift, return button, and bell sounds!!! Without typewriter, there will be no keyboard as we use today! Appreciate the past, as it brings you tomorrow..
I tried typing on one of these once and though I learned how to type on a typewriter and not a computer, it was an electric typewriter so I learned "touch typing". On these old machines you had to hit the keys with force as there were arms that had the letters imprinted that would come up and strike a ribbon which would then imprint on paper. Every now and then you still see one of these floating around especially at yard sales or the thrift shops.
I hit computer and phone keys quite hard, but especially so with computers, people always complain about how loud and forceful I hit the keys, even though, I haven't used, until recently, a typewriter, and I don't currently possess one myself but am hoping to get the one I found tomorrow. I just always typed heavy, so my fingers are just right for a typewriter.
I don't see it as a lost art when I am doing it. It is lost when typewriters fall silent all across the world. But with me around, that won't be happening anytime soon.
They use them at my university. I admit, not manual, but electric typewriters. They also still here use them at the hospital, post office and at my old High school.

My college final year project report was written with a Typewriter in 1995. There were computers & printers then but just difficult & expensive to lay hands on. Believe it or not, Typewriter was what came to mind first. So, computers were still a luxury in 1995.
I liked the video just for the pleasure I got on hearing again this sound, so familiar to me in the past... I believe my old portable typewriter still exists some where in my basement.
I honestly would have loved to have been a secretary in the 50’s or 60’s. Maybe it’s because it’s been over glamorized but it just looks so satisfying to use this.
I slowed down the video to see what he was typing and this is what it said: Never gonna give you up Never gonna let you down Never gonna run around and desert you Never gonna make you cry Never gonna say goodbye Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you We've known each other for so long Your heart's been aching but you're too shy to say it Inside we both know what's been going on We know the game and we're gonna play it And if you ask me how I'm feeling Don't tell me you're too blind to see Never gonna give you up Never gonna let you down Never gonna run around and desert you Never gonna make you cry Never gonna say goodbye Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you Never gonna give you up Never gonna let you down Never gonna run around and desert you Never gonna make you cry Never gonna say goodbye Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you (Ooh, give you up) (Ooh, give you up) (Ooh) Never gonna give, never gonna give (Give you up) (Ooh) Never gonna give, never gonna give (Give you up) We've known each other for so long Your heart's been aching but you're too shy to say it Inside we both know what's been going on We know the game and we're gonna play it I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling Gotta make you understand Never gonna give you up Never gonna let you down Never gonna run around and desert you Never gonna make you cry Never gonna say goodbye Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you Never gonna give you up Never gonna let you down Never gonna run around and desert you Never gonna make you cry Never gonna say goodbye Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you Never gonna give you up Never gonna let you down Never gonna run around and desert you Never gonna make you cry Never gonna say goodbye Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
Im really interested at how technological by its epoch this machine is, beautiful, with a satisfying ding sound when the machine recognizes the end of the line paper, the space, letters... Everything, its so satisfying
In 1960 during my college days doing B.Commerce degree,I used to go for Type Writing Training classes and as a new trainee I was given an OLD (may be some 1930 Model)Halda and made me type using correct fingers A S D F G F . , L K J H J a thousand times, before going to next line......... Q W E R T R P O I U Y U ! A great machine and Memory!!
Israel Sanchez Thanks very much. Yes, my typing technique leaves something left to be desired, but so far it works for me. And thank you for the compliment.
+Empolo18 if you've ever used a real typewriter, you know there is a speed limit. If you type too fast the things that hit the paper hit each other and get stuck.
