I fast (often omad) and whenever I use HMB powder after my workout I go quicker and deeper into ketosis as opposed to not using it. The taste is a bit vile lol so I mix it with flavoured zero cal water.
Olive oil contains very little omega 3. You are best to use hemp seed oil, which has an excellent ratio of omega 9, 6 and 3. Hempseed oil has approximately 40 times more omega 3 then olive oil.
Great video as always. I would love to hear your opinion about which is the best EPA vs DHA ratio in Omega 3 supplements. I know that one helps lower inflammation while the other one is good for the brain. At the same time I was reading a study which revealed that a large amount of DHA actually counteracts EPA's benefits thus it's recommended to take a supplement that has a lot more EPA than DHA.
Mind blowing. It helps so much to have the biochemical interactions explained. Strange that the PPAR Alpha receptor is on the nucleus. The body hid the lock well. I'm assuming this is because the intention was to encourage the body to burn carbs during the seasons when they are available, to save fat consumption for the seasons when there was no food growing (winter). Primitive man had few options to preserve foodstuffs. Primitive man may not even have had a reliable long term shelter to store them.

There is so much conflicting information about a keto diet and consuming fats. Eating meat for instance which is animal fats is not a good fat and other articles suggest its bad for your heart as its the bad fat. What is the truth in this being bad for your heart and clogging your arteries as opposed to having an efficient body

In a nutshell, all he is saying consume more mono-unsaturated fats (healthy fats) like macadamia, avocado and olive oil, which helps the body to use its fat as fuel (fat adapted).
Always leaves me so confused. Dumb it down...forget the science class. I loss interest after about 2 minutes. Also, would be nice, if you would actually answer some of your subscribers questions....
Very timely. I will be starting a keto program on this Monday due to medical issues. I have already started using the Budwig protocol and noticed that the high content of the flax seed oil gave me a lot of energy. But, my doctor changed the protocol to add more Cod Liver Oil, and now I know why.
As a science teacher I really appreciate your detailed videos, why is it that only glucose metabolism is on the curriculum but fats is just a footnote?
If by curriculum you mean whats taught in school. Its likely due to carbs are easily produced and have a long shelf life and keep people fuller for longer. They are also cheaper to purchase.

Can you put a meal plan together to help us get fat adapted please? I have tried everything and can’t seem to get there. I have gained muscle but my fat is stuck and stays the same. I have mixed up my fasting windows, tried fasting every other day with a 24 hour fast one day a week. I’ve been eating clean keto for 18 months and have cycled off for a few days every 3-4 months. I think I’m doing everything you have taught me but I seem to be stuck, stuck, stuck. I just want to lose 5 pounds of fat and keep my lean muscle right where it is. Arg, so frustrating.
@@raisedonmetal7984 Thank you for all your great suggestions. I’ve never tried carnivore before so it’s worth a try. I’ve also never tried true sprints. I sprint on my bike or jumping rope sprint intervals but never running. I don’t care what I weigh. I actually weigh more than when I started keto but that’s because I’ve gained quite a bit of muscle. It’s just frustrating because I can’t seem to get those last few pounds of fat off or as I call them jiggly bits lol. I refuse to blame it on the fact I’m 59. I’m determined to be in better physical shape than I was 20 years ago. Peace to you too.
I burn fat every time I eat. The trouble is my whole body is charred and I keep getting kicked out of restaurants: not to mention the chaired stained chair, table and ceiling!

It's good being fat adapted but soon after comes muscle breakdown adapted! I want to know when you can tell that switch has happened or whether both fat and muscle is broken down for glucose at the same time?????
Well muscle only gets break down when you fast for too long or i think when you're not fat adapted and you go straight for the keto diet because your body only knows how to use carbs so it'll use muscle when you don't give it carbs, i guess it's just the beggining of the fat adaptation journey. Oh and when you're not active enough because yeah then the body thinks your muscles are useless and it starts to break them down for glucose. So be active, and don't fast for too long (it's rare that you fast for too long but i guess as far chronic fasting tehnique i'd say don't do more than 24h so that's alternate day fasting one day you eat the next one you don't.
That’s make me sick protein powder kick up my insulin because going directly to your blood and for me increased my Uric acid level over 8.5 that’s me you need to ask your doctor and the Protein powder process food🤷♂️
Depends on what is being fermented. Better still is sprouted Seed protein powders... the benefits of protein,improved digestibility, reduced lectins and many more anti oxidants. Same is true with sprouted micro greens such as brocoli. Dr Rhonda Patrick has some good research reviews on this matter 😊

Knowing Thomas' fondness for the Mediterranean herbs, Italian seasoning has sesame seeds ground into that mix. In the knowledge I soak all my my nuts and seeds, I/S included, I'm boosting digestion and becoming better fat adapted into the bargain. Adding olive oil, we're truly cooking on gas. Maybe even pentane standard. That's cooking!

Yes it's totally a myth not to. Human growth hormone is elevated during fasting periods, which is the body's way of saying that it needs to put on muscle mass in order to survive.
Just buy frozen vegies in bulk use tons of good fats take a multivitamin and eat cheaper cuts of meat, fish, eggs keto isnt expenssive only if you want to bake fancy things with a lot of nuts and other high price items I would recommend lwrning how to make cheap keto bread and stuff to put on. Buying like a 5kg at a discount of (whey) protein powder is also gonna safe you alot of money since its also a tasty treat.
Eating healthy may appear to cost more, but once you become fat adapted, you eat way less food. Plus you are not buying packaged crap that is cheap. We spend way less now and buy less as well.
Commercial sesame oil is highly processed and heated and pressed, I don’t have a lot of knowledge of this process or what it will do but I think that heating and pressing would remove many of the nutrients. And I imagine a lot of these nutrients would be in the husk but again I have a little or no knowledge of this process. I am just surmising. I would compare it to the homogenization process which essentially kills everything.
The study of omega 3 and resting calorie burning makes no sense. Why would you give the group with the higher resting calories burned the thing that you expect to raise that number? The omega 3 should have been given to the group with the lower number or even added a 3rd group. This would yield a high number to start, a low number to start, and a control that was close to the high or low group. Better yet, have a high and low number control group.
I did not like this video. Most of your older videos with "these foods" or "the foods" in the title were mostly about the foods with some study information. This video was mostly study information with a brief mention of the foods. It is late so I was nodding off due to this not being what I expected. All I heard in regards to food was fish oil, olive oil, macadamia oil, avocado oil, and sesame oil. What else did I miss? Also, will you please go back to your formats of actually listing the foods with some of the study results? You can still do these videos that are mostly the studies. Just let us know what we are truly going to see and hear.
What do you think about perilla oil? It is the highest in omega 3. I am 58 and omad lifestyle. Workout 6 days. Vegan. I am now finding my torso is loose skin and fatty. Is this another hormone shift. Is there any thing I can do to shock this process.?
I'm doing intermittent fasting but I don't know how I'm supposed to do it on days I go to the gym, I go at 3:30- 4:00 am , I'd have to stop eating at 2 pm ??
