Hey everyone, I found this quick way to speed up the menus and overall performance of your playstation 3 ps3. Its amazing the difference it makes, I heard it might also help issues with game loading and lag as well. The whole process takes less than 10 minutes and its super easy to do. As a warning, It DOES erase your messages and music playlists so write them down if they are important. It WILL NOT remove any downloaded games, saved data, themes, etc. Sorry I ran out of storage on my camera so it was cut short, but it made it to the last process. After it finishes it will reboot the PS3 again and thats it, enjoy the speed! Feel free to shoot me a message if you need any help or have any questions. On skate 3 it can randomly black screen also laggy and the game can freeze for a second or i need to reset ps3 do u think this will help?

That's a HDD problem, Run recovery options; Restore default settings, then try rebuild database and if that doesn't work; format and finally replace HDD if a format didn't work. I'm on CFW DEX 4.82 I've had and used this console since 2012 and only now has it given me problems with this. Remember to clean your PS3 inside from all the dust every now and then also to prevent HDD problems!

I did all this and my netflix and ps3 games still all skip with lag and poor performance. Do I need to replace my hard drive? Sadly I had to lose all my retro games downloaded saves, but what can you do...piss and moan, or move on. Oddly those are the games that I could play without the freezing and lagging problem.

To all people please read this... U know if u update your games in your ps3 it says error right then if u see that press circle go to your saves games if u don't if u don't play any of your games anymore Delete it u need 3/4 Saves games so that your game will update/download fast, its not your internet its your saves games if too many saves then delete some till you reach 3/4 saves games

Since the console is actually a clustered storage server environment, forcing Rebuild Database will create (minor) improvements in speed but similar reductions in stability (a corrupted file can no longer fall back to last change journaled). There's a further chance Rebuild Database will encounter a catastrophical failure, which the system can survive, but in order to do so it will factory reset and wipe all data off disk. So all in all, the trick is useless IMO.

Tried everything what the video says, and once I turned it on, it said that my system storage is corrupted. Hit X to rebuild the database and wait a couple minutes and then the system reboot again. Once it turned on, the same message pop up again. Try the same things, and the outcome is same. Well...... I'm fucked, it bricked my ps3. I tried to safe mode, try everything and it still the same. So I give up, I format everything and yes, I LOSE EVERYTHINGS, 2 YEARS WORTH OF TIME AND ALMOST 500GB OF FILES :'D

It only works for a while. Then you have yo do it again. The more you play, the more data. Then it will show down or lag. Then you got to do it again .

You don't get it, my old controler, does not have Bluetooth and it only connects with USB adaptor, so if I put that in there while putting a normal USB charger that can also connect to other devices, it won't work, but the good news is, I got a original PS3 controller and now I don't have this problem.

I don't think so, that only happens if you restore you're entire ps3 settings to factory, or if you do reset default settings, if this happens you just go to network settings and set them to what you need to set them.

The only thing that gets deleted is your messages. Saved games will be intact.

Sorry, thats more of a hardware issue. Google a repair guide, you'll have to tear the machine apart and looks to be a real pain. Theres a nice pictured document on doing it on ifixit dot com.
