RektbyProtoss hey man nice video! But could you do some video where to go and what quests to do from normal and so on or do you have a video in that can you link it to me ?
@@rektbyprotoss I have many hours from AOM in softcore but recently got FG and decided to play hardcore and it is a lot more fun. Your cabalist and doombolt deceiver are my favourite so far!
"My first one took, I don't know, like 50 hours" HAHAHAHAHAHAHA 78 hours and I'm level 76 xD You underestimate the time it takes to do all quests, challenges and read all the lore for a new player xD I just started elite at lvl 75 after clearing up as much as I found in normal.
That part you mentioned in act1 ultimate where you pop all you lore, brillant!! Starting the devotion's hunt with that much of lvl is just broken. I was already doing almost everything you said except this little part. Keep up the good work man...youve got a like and a sub ;)
so i did this and i noticed theres a few quests you can do in ultimate, the shard quest at inventor and the scrap quest you can do if you take the mats from your stash, easy lvl 28-29 a:)
Thank you for all the tips, really helps even when you're a veteran, nice refresher from time to time. By the by, there's also an accessible lore note in Burrwitch Outskirts just near the portal.
Following your tips i leveled i char up to 94 lv in less than 10 hours. It is a lot faster (about 50-60%) than what i used to do for leveling alts. Now that i finished a run i want to add a few things which could be helpful. Using Lokarr set is nice and i used it up to lv 94 without switching but it is risky and having as much physical resistance to compensate the loss of armor really improves your survival and decreases the chance of having a heart attack :). In my case i was able to achieve more than 50 physical resistance. It wont make you immune but a lot more durable and you can avoid switching armor for a very long time , maybe even until lv 94. Fighting in elite after ashes of malmoth progressing through FG in my opinion is not really worth it. After AoM i tried FG for a half an hour and was disappointed for exp gain and also it was harder for some reason. So after AoM i just introduce myself to FG without doing much but only some initial quests and continue in ultimate for faster leveling to 94. However if you are not as skilled as RekbyProtoss you might go for leveling in normal and doing everything there instead of elite. This will take you from 50% up to 100% more time depending what you decide to do but it will be safer. Also if you spent more time gathering those devotion shrines pays off (in the Lost Oasis there is a shrine in normal). Good job making those very helpful videos!
A little side note, A really good cold build you will want to Kill Loxmere for the frostblades.. unless someone here knows of something more powerful that was added recently. I would say use a warlord to tank his ass and save the daggers. you will have to do this several times however as they do not just drop.. so happy farming them.
I tried this as a new character without the Lokarr set, and those four aether clusters on the way to the Burial Cave at 14:33 absolutely destroyed me and my 250 hp. :p There's also a good chance the boss that rises up at 14:15 will chase you all over the map.
Interesting. I never tried that part without the Lokarr set. The first ultimate quest is not mandatory to do, you can also just start devotion hopping in normal. The act 4 shrines in the necropolis might be a little too hard without Lokarr set and no xp advantage though.
Hey Rekt I am still levelling my first character. Any advice on Gearing priorities? like Cap Resist > DA > OA? and when it comes to Damage, which stat do you stack? OA or the elemental % damage?
Defense: cap res > DA > armor Offense, depends more on the char: for attack speed chars e.g. dw nightblade: flat damage (mostly via skills/components) > attack speed > %dmg = OA for casters skill mods through items > %damage > casting speed/cdr = OA for 2h/%WD casters such as forcewave/primal strike flat damage (mostly via weapon) > casting/attack speed > % damage = OA BUT: All builds should have OA ideally high enough to have 100% hit value and DA high enough to have 0% getting crit value.
I finished the video, and I am a bit suprised and confused on how this skip difficulty is supposed to work. I had the impression that the whole point was to be able to get to Elite or Utimate and start the game there, already leveled up to a certain level, so I do NOT have to grind all 3 difficulties, but that is not how it works. You still go back to Normal and Elite, to do shrines there and do several chapters in Elite, before going to Ultimate. So yeah, I am dissapointed in the skip difficulty feature in GD, still 'need' to do stuff in both Normal and Elite, which I hoped for I did NOT have to do. I wanted as little as possible to do in the difficulties I skip, which is wrong. Well well...better then nothing I guess, but I stand with my point that this feature is badly explained, and to do what you do takes a lot of time before you actually can play in Ultimate. But thanks for the video! Thanks for explaining this!
What I present to you here in this video is just the fastest and most efficient way to level alts. If you wanna level in elite or ultimate from level 1 and skip the other difficulties entirely, you can just do that aswell, but it will be a little slower or less efficient to 94. Especially leveling in ultimate only is very hard. If you like the challenge, go for it, but the chance of RIP is very high.
why don't you start with doing crucibles just before you make the devotins shrine runs? It gives easily 5 devotion points you can buy for tributes. cheers nice vid
I did that in the past (before forgotten gods), but since the introduction of the merit that you can buy with FG doing early crucible for devotion points has become a waste of time. It's much quicker to just port around the map from shrine to shrine. If you can't acces the merit yet, doing crucible is still ok.
Hmm there is a button to make the game run faster? Or are you emulating with a VM somehow? Ah its prerecorded footage? You also seem to be moving faster or my eyes or deceiving me. I thought maybe grim dawn had an option like in armor to put time x2 or x4.
You can use Grim Internals to run the game at higher speeds. I don't use it though as I like the speed the game as it is. For the video, I did probably speed up some things via my video editor.
I overleveled a character that is sub geared. I cant get Lokarr set. Have everything else. Also dont have good memory of map. Is there a way to do this even if it takes longer but also effectively? I have 30+xp pots. Also I want to make a great farm build. Any suggestions? Thanks if you reply!!
You can still do basically the same strategy, but you will have to spend more time changing gear and keeping an eye out for your resistances. If you have trouble getting to kyzogg the reanimator and defeating him in ultimate, you could try the same thing in elite instead. It won't give you lvl 33, but still give you a decent headstart, so you can start devotion hopping in normal afterwards.
@@rektbyprotoss Thanks man. I started a new character Sunday and I'm already lvl 67. I started a nightblade/oathkeeper so its taking a but longer than expected because it's just hard to deal damage like this and I get sidetracked sometimes but overall great strategy! Thanks for the reply. You are 100% right, have to keep changing gear, very time consuming, luckily found an item with chaos/aether ward on it!!!
@@kindnessofwooedandwooer2494 This is LITERALLY intended in-game feature to level up alts? Why the fk you think lokkar set is lvl 1 and rings are lvl 10 and so on? Editor andy lmao...i bet you quit the game after editing 3 alts within 2 days. Nice gaming experience buddy
Great video, but one question? How exactly do you unlock Barrowholm rep? I took the rift to The Coven and was able to unlock their rep, but can't with Barrowholm. Obviously I am missing something.
Why is Leovinus ring anything special? 3% exp is not much, I have seen items with 5%, lowish level. The damage bonus is also not that rare, only thing maybe is the resists and the ring is level 10. I used the skip difficulty item to get a char to Elite, and was dissapointed, I was the same level as in Normal, so it was hard to kill stuff to begin with, and still is now at level 40. Bosses and totems are a pain.
The ring is nothing special as you said, but it's also a guaranteed drop and very easy to get. 48% elemental res at lvl 10 is the best thing about having two of them early on.
Kinda depends what the goal is. If it's just meant to do main campaign acts on ultimate, get factions to revered and be able to do some dungeons, I'd personally go for a nightblade due to their insane speed such as e.g. my SSF spellbreaker. If you also wanna do harder endgame content consistently, I'd go a vitality caster like e.g. my SSF conjurer. It's a little slower to level and a little slower for easier content on ultimate, but can do more endgame content more consistently. Other good starter builds are all soldier+x or a spellbinder (aether melee/caster), sorc and shieldbreaker (fire bomberman caster) or a 2h primal strike lightning shaman (vindicator, druid).
Thanks again. I’ve watched many of your videos now and I think I’m more the caster type. 2h forcewave is stupid op tho lol. One thing I notice is you mention normal but I don’t see you clicking the veteran button. Is there a reason you don’t suggest the veteran option. Thanks again.
@@choocharoo for pure speed, veteran is a waste of time. For a more balanced increase of difficulty and a more gradual learning curve without speedleveling gear, I recommend veteran.
@RektbyProtoss, How are you triggering the ability to teleport around the whole map from the start? I haven't played since February and whilst I've a maxed out ulltos lightning shaman build character in Ultimate, pretty sure he finished the ultimate campaign (?), and when I start a new character, I can drop the items into the shared inventory and get them from Crucible but the map doesn't allow me to teleport anywhere. It's right in front of my face why I can't but I'm totally missing it.
You need to put a merit (blue stone thingy) into your shared stash, grab it on the new char via crucible, start the game on normal diff, press the merit e voilà! Now you can port around on normal/elite and start the game on elite/ultimate diff.
50hours to lvl first character? lol? havent seen anyone doing it under 150, and those who did it around this time, are playing using build guides - so they do not spend time reading wiki to understand mechanics, they do not spend time on reading/finding all lore by themselves, and use video guides to find secrets and hidden things. To complete the game on ur own in all departments with 1st cahrater, its I would say close to 300 hours - and its for experienced players in general, I do not even want to think how many hours a noob to genre will have to play on their own to get to lvl 100 without skiping content.
I meant lvling a first char from 1-100, not doing like all the content on top. "havent seen anyone doing it under 150" - I've seen some people do it in under 30h, if they followed a good guide and were speedy players. But yea 50-150h for first char for 1-100 is probably the time range most people will be in. Doing all content on top can take up to 1k hours depending on player, HC or SC and build(s).
