As a photographer, working with Speedlites should be no different to any other form of lighting. In order to capture quality imagery in any area of photography you need to take control of your device and shape the light in a way that suits your desired look and feel. When it comes to Speedlite there are many types of functions that differ from a studio strobe that may become slightly confusing at times. Here Mark explains Wireless Communication within certain speedlite models which allows you to communicate between devices and therefore broaden you horizons in achieving dramatic & dynamic images. Learn everything Speedlite right here as Mark seeks to set you off on your path to mastering your photography.

Had 2 older Nikon speedlights with IR. Would have gotten $0 on buying my Z6ii which does not have a built-in flash to use as master. So I bought 2 receivers and a “master” for the camera. It was cheaper. Then, I set up for Macro. Mounted my Metz macro ring light. It’s IR! So, back to the store for another Godox product, an inexpensive RF/IR capable Speedlight that can be an IR or RF Master. I am happy for the moment, but may see more flash or continuous lights in the future. IR TTL served me well 2007-2020, so I am content.

How can I use Canon 70D's capability to work as the controller to fire the only speedlite unmounted on its hotshot?

Thank you so much Mark for helping me understand how all this works. You're an excellent tutor and I very much appreciate the time that it was taken you to create this step by step tutorial for everyone.

This was great. I can understand what I'm going to have to do as I was fortunate enough to buy 2x AD200s and a speed-light with a controller like the one in your video. The only thing I'm not sure of is if I need to go into my Nikon D3 settings to tell it there's a trigger present. I'm sure I can figure that out by looking at the manual. Great video and very well explained - the playground analogy was spot on. Thank you.
