Covering the Fuselage in Oracover/Ultracote - The Speedy Bee is a classic design from Clancy Aviation, a fun 40" wingspan mid-winged radio control plane, which will be powered by a OS fs 26 four-stroke glow engine. This build series will take you step by step through the construction of the model, culminating in the maiden flight, and a build & flight review.
The plane is being build from a great set of plans, from 1996, which can be downloaded from Outerzone: - outerzone.co.uk/plan_details....

Hi, thanks for this series! I'm an absolute beginner building with 5mm foam board to learn some basic building skills. Like many before me, I started covering with simple packing tape, but it looks so terrible, I'm ready to switch to film. This series has been inspiring and informative and gives me confidence I can soon take my first steps with balsa and have an informative reference at hand. Thank you!

Hi, Scott. As a fellow model builder, it's not so much of an effort as it is a pleasure. As I commented above, the gratification one feels flying something they built themselves, has to be experienced to be understood. I highly recommend it.

Great job. Nice covering. Im going to be covering my model rc plane within the next couple of weeks. This will be my first time ever covering a plane and im going to be using white Oracover on the fuselage and dark blue for the wings. . If i do half as good a job as you then i will be happy. Thanks for sharing.

The bright yellow with the dark scallops on the wings reminds me of the Gee Bee model Z. Maybe you could call it the "Speedy Bee Gee Bee Z." Of course, that's just a suggestion.
