I'm not a pro pilot but after questions about making some videos how to setup planes and helis on my DX8 i finaly did the work. I left out to tell that Throttlecut shuts down the engine and is used for Nitro/gas engines. Throttle hold is used for electric and nitro. Hold makes engine just idle on nitros and cuts power for electric engine. These two settings must be asigned to different switches. You don't wanna cut your nitro engine during autos.This is how i do it and that doesn't meen it's right. But if there are somethings to add please post a comment with your tip.

I have been an airplane guy for 30 years and thanks to that think called "peer pressure" I just had to try a helicopter so I went out and bought a TREX 450 clone. Your video was a life saver setting up my DX8 and I want to say thanks! Now its off to let my instructor check it over and see if all this chopper stuff is worth the hype!

@ArcticRc HI Bengt, thought I'd tune in here. It is quite normal to used around 25% expo on cyclic and rudder controls for helicopters of all sizes. I use it on all of my helicopters, ranging from 450 - 550 - 700 size. Cheers.

@ArcticRc Yes 25% is plenty I think you will enjoy it. It really smooths out the cyclic inputs. Let me know how it goes!

I dont have a Heli Hobby store in town either or I would take it to them. I had to drive 1.5 hours to pick up this thing and its frustrating. The tail rotor is centered, swash is all aligned. It seems like it would hover nice if the tail would stop wanting to make the heli turn. thank you!

@ArcticRc It's Mentioned in the Manual if you have a Unstable hover. I guess you can use it to calm down a Sensitive Heli when your Hovering. Mine is all over the place in a hover. I can't seem to get it to not be so sensitive..

Hello, I have a Spektrum DX8. Recently the speed controller stopped working, maybe I messed up something with the adjustments. The monitor shows that the joystick is responding, but the receiver does not execute the command. One plane emits rhythmic beeps, the other buzzes three times and then is silent. I would be very grateful if you help, I hope this is not a defect, I can’t take off, but I really want to.

Set your throttlestick to high. Den connect esc battery whait for to beeps and then throttle down fast. Now wait for signals and cell counts. You have no calibrated esc to you radio andbit should be ok

good video. why are some heli like the blade 200 recommended to be set up as an airplane and others like the 230s set up as a heli. also, on the channel assignment menu channel 5 says gear. What does gear mean exactly. thanks

@themongrel712 IT may have lots of different 3 servo swashplate setting but hasn’t got a setting for 4 servo swash for my vairo helicopter as I found out to my cost. My old 35meg Futaba 8 channel set has! Will stick to Futaba in future.

I have the same radio, DX8. I also have the Trex 550e V2 3GX. Everything seems to work fine, but for some reason, I have to fight the tail rotor all the time. I seriously need help and I dont understand what i did wrong. I take off the ground and the more power I give it, the more it wants to turn counter Clockwise. I lower the power and it turns Clockwise! Seems to me that my gyro for the tail hold is not working. I know it has to be a setting i am missing. Can you think of anything?

What about a Curve Pitch for HOLD? I use 40-45-50-75-100 (-2.5 deg). For NORMAL Curve Pitch I use 50-50-50-75-100 (0 deg for start) for all my heli 450-500-600.

Hi , I am fairly new to this hobby , I have a DX8 and a trex 250 DFC. are these settings good for this because I have no clue? I can only fly inverted on my simulator and I don't have the courage to do so for real. My trex 250 is currently set up to my DX6i and I won't use the DX8 until I have the right settings? on the gyro setting the word hold is not for throttle hold its for heading hold gyros

You mention in this 'Spektrum DX8-Helicopter Set-up' that this is Video #2. Where is video #1 and what is it entitled so I can watch it first? I am starting from the beginning to set-up my Spektrum 8 and I am going to program it for my Blade 350 QX3. Thank you.

I don't remember Sir. But i don't think you are missing out on something. Remember that this setup is for flybar. I will make a video with FBL systems when i get my hands in a new heli.

Greg von Seeger Flybar is when your helicopter has those extra Paddels togetger with the Main Blades. Flybarlessis only the main blades and a 3 axis gyro instead of just the rudder gyro

Har ingen erfaring med Icon. Æ bruker kun AR7200BX fbl gyro på mine heli. stødig samt Spektrum. Men kan hjelpe så langt æ klare. du kan også bruke ArcticRc På facebook. for kjappere svar :) Bengt

I do not agree with everything in this video I would not adjust pitch and cyclic with radio I always adjust mechanically this way when or if you crash you do not have to remember all your changes in radio there is some good info here just do things a little different
