Q: Do the NX Transmitters (NX6/NX8/NX10) have diversity antennas?
A: All three have diversity antennas. The second antenna is located behind the transmitter nameplate. On the DX transmitters the antenna is in the transmitter handle.
Q: Do the NX transmitters provide power to the serial port located on the back of the transmitter?
A: Although all the NX transmitters have a serial port, only the NX10 provides power to the port (9.5V). The NX6 and NX8 will require an external power source for the 3rd party module.
Q: Do the NX transmitters support the Immersion RC Ghost module?
A: Currently no, but we are working with Immersion to add compatibility.
Q: Do the NX transmitters have an Android interface?
A: No, the NX transmitters do not use Android. They are an updated version of the DX Airware interface.
Q: Are the DX transmitters going away?
A: Yes, the DX6, DX8, and DX9 are going to be discontinued. The “e” versions (DX6e / DX8e) are staying in the product line up for years to come.
Q: Is Horizon Hobby still provide customer support to DX radios?
A: Yes, we will support DX radios for years to come. Also, we are going to provide Airware updates for the foreseeable future. Support for new features could be left out if the older hardware cannot support these new features.
Q: Do all NX transmitters feature Hall-effect gimbals?
A: Only the NX10 has Hall-effect gimbals. Also, at this time, it is not going to be offered as an upgrade for NX6 or NX8.
Q: Can the NX transmitter share files with DX and iX transmitters?
A: Yes, you can share model files from DX to NX, but not from NX to DX. The iX can share models between DX, and NX.
Q: Do all NX transmitters include the same size battery?
A: No. The NX6 and NX8 come with a 1S 2000mAh battery, while the NX10 includes a 6000mAh battery. The higher capacity battery can be used in the NX6 and NX8 if desired.

Q: Can I get the magnetic USB connector from the NX10 for a NX6 or NX8?

Q: Do the NX transmitters have a touchpad screen?
A: No, the NX transmitters use a roller and 3 buttons for navigation.
Q: Can I use the NX6 with E-flite BNF planes with flaps and retracts (most warbirds) and still have a switch for SAFE Select?
A: Yes, the NX6 has an extra channel that can be used for SAFE Select. This extra channel is non-proportional and non-adjustable, aside from reversing.
Q: Is Spektrum going to continue to offer the iX transmitters?
A: Yes, we are still going to offer and fully support the iX12 and iX20 transmitters.
Q: Do you have new 10-Channel receivers to support the NX10?
A: Although we don’t yet have new 10-channel receivers, we do have new 8-channel receivers.

Q: Will the NX transmitters work with DSM2 receivers?
A: Yes, the NX transmitters are DSM2 and DSMX compatible.
Q: What SD memory cards can be used with NX Transmitters?
A: We suggest using a Class 6 or lower, 32g or smaller Micro SD Card that is formatted FAT or FAT32 file systems. Some Class 10 cards will work from top brands like SanDisk and Toshiba.

Thanks for the answers. I'm VERY glad Spektrum isn't forcing Android across the line. At the same time, the NX doesn't offer enough to justify replacing my DX9 and DX6. If I had to buy new, I'd likely get a Radiomaster but if I wanted Spektrum brand, the NX10 looks nice.

Great idea on the nameplate antenna! My crossbar is usually buried in my lap where I rest the radio when I fly. So this is perfect for me!

Thank you for the great answers. Can you tell me what the battery charge life is in the NX10 before it is drained when the radio is not used during the winter? My DX9 and other radios have a real snap switch which cuts the power 100%, but the NX10 had a soft touch switch which has a little power being used all of the time. Thank you

How is the new antenna placement any better? When the second antenna were in the handlebar at the back, it was 90 degrees to the primary antenna, which is optimal for diversity.

Question? What is the process to check the charging ability of the battery in the nx 6. I have a new one that has been charged twice and now acts likes it is not charging. Also then, what is the trick for taking the batter out to replace if it is bad.

I purchased a wingnuttech controller for the lights on a radian 2m plane. Trying to find a video on how to set channel 6 on the receiver to the R Knob to adjust the lights on the controller. Any ideas where I might find such an animal?

Question 1 My NX 8 just says “thumb twiddling” when I hit log in. Just does that until I press the roller or turn it off. I’m already on wifi. Question 2 How do I get my 8020t receiver into safe. I tried Putting in the bind plug then plugging in the battery then unplugging the bind plug and finally binding the radio. The radio does bind,but not in safe mode. Thanks. Great videos a 8020t video would be great. Not a lot out there for it.

I was moments away from doing a pre order on the NX 10 today until I watched this video. My excitement bubble was popped when you said the radio doesn't support the new immersion RC ghost system........ Do you have any time frame information of when that may happen that would change my mind and still order this radio?

I’ve had NX6 for month now. Flown many times. I flew week ago. Today I tried to charge it for tomorrow flying. Noticed green light didn’t come on and battery really low. It was 3.2. So I let It charge for awhile and checked it again and it was 2.9. Then It finally went dead. Nothing on screen not charging. I did notice when I stopped charging earlier to check voltage I noticed there was a running time just above actual time. It was like 8hrs and 10 minutes. I haven’t had transmitter on for days so don’t know what that means. What actually is that running time. So anyway what happened? Did I get bad battery? I just ordered the 6000mah upgrade.

Hey Steve, just got my NX10. It’s registered and updated, only problem it does not recognize that the SD has been installed. Try to download and it just says No SD card. Have the recommended class 16gb card. Can’t find a solution in the manual. Thanks

I have been wanting to purchase a Spektrum Transmitter for a while now . Glad I waited . Couple of questions for you . I have been using Frsky transmitters among others for quads & airplanes . So here we go . How or where can I find a list of the airplane models in the Nx10 ? Is the list brand specific ? Does the Nx10 support all new & older model receivers & ESC’s ? Is the Nx10 able to use Jr modules ? You stated Crossfire is supported . How is this going to be possible if there isn’t a type of Jr module adapter ? Are they capable of using FPV goggles for drones or airplanes . Is another brand receiver able to plug in for 5.8 ghz signal ? Analog & or digital ? Lastly do you offer any discount codes on receivers if purchased with transmitter . Since it doesn’t come with any ? Thanks

you might want to wait a while, NX series are giving lots of problems, mine keeps getting a red screen warning and it is hard to get it off,, mine is NX8 and with no updates as it was working fine,, updates on PC are usually problems also

Excuse me. I have some questions. Firstly dose this transmitter work with Volantex rc,Fmc,and syma aircraft? Secondly I was thinking that with multiple people with me using a transmitter flying 1plane each, I thought of using wireless headsets and make a little Air traffic control tower to monitor our flying. what do you think of this idea? Lastly would it be possible if I reuse the box that comes with a plane or helicopter to make a hanger to store them when not in use?

Hi, do yo know if the AX3X Gyro will automatically work with the model pre-sets you can download for this? I have 2 of them but they are such a fuss to programme I can't even use them. I tried to get my local hobby shop to help but they couldn't work it out either. Thanks

AS3X programming is done RX side, not TX. So no, you'd have to download those specific model presets or create your own. Hope that helps!!

You need a compatible receiver. If so, you go to forward programming and set everything up. If you have a BNF model with safe and AS3X, you need to assign the channels via flight modes.

I have the NX8. In camber presets. I set the end points at 100% on both ends. I only get 50% of flap and aileron travel. When I max out servo travel to 150% The camber presets travel goes to 75% max How can I change it to get 100% travel?

Question please, sorry if this is the wrong area to ask. Using the NX8 with a AR8360T. I am in the forward programming and its an endless loop of “ did you configure your airplane” hit next and then right back again. I turn the throttle switch off, or on, makes not difference. Can you help with some advice please, thank you

Looking to get the NX8, as I have gotten enough life out of my original DX6i(pre DSMX) that I never ended up with a DX6/DX8... Nice to know they do have diversity 2nd antenna... was trying to find that info... One question, Horizon website lists the NX8 with a transmitter strap... but the manual doesn't list this... as the NX10 manual does list strap, as well as stickers(i like stickers)... Does the NX8 come with an all important strap? Another question, I get the charge cord thing, or battery differences... as that helps hit a price point, and lots of folks might buy the cord or bigger battery later, which is $$$ for Spektrum... but dangit, tell them fools to put STICKERS in every single radio and reciever package.... EVERY SINGLE ONE!.... Stickers on our planes, stickers on our crawlers, on our racers and bashers, and on the AUTOMOBILES we drive to and from the field, track, etc... Used to have a Spektrum hat and tee shirt... gonna have to order more swag with my NX radio, and guess I will have to beg a few sticker sheets from the Horizon guys too...lol Lastly... the big difference in the radio itself...between NX8 and NX10... 2 slider switches on the rear, 2 channels, and the gimbals...(not counting battery and charge cable)? Would the gimbals be a huge deal? I got over a decade out of the DX6i that I preordered...kinda want the NX8 for warbirds and just that tiny bit of extra in case I move beyond foam park flyers, etc... but don't see anything in the next decade bigger than like a carbon Z cub, the 1.5m P-51, and planes of that size range... would an NX8 be a good next radio(I have a case these days, so might get a decade out of my next Spektrum radio too)...or with those planes do you see a reason the NX10 would be a lot better...? I don't fly super often, so never wore put a gimbal on the DX6i, I did have to reinforce 2 of the trim tabs though, second time in there I just did all 4 even the ones that still worked fine. Hey there. I've confirmed that the NX6 and 8 all have straps/stickers. We do have new spektrum clothing coming like in the next few days too available on horizonhobby.com. As far as the Gimbals, you aren't likely going to notice a feel difference and if you are a standard user, the changes of your POTs going bad are very very low. The Hall effect is just a nice touch for the higher end radio. NX8 is the best next step radio that will likely last you a long time. However, I'm always for getting a bigger radio than you need now if you plan on growing up in the hobby and needing more channels. Buy once, cry once :)

Any idea how to connect an NX6 to a DX6 as a wired trainer? The DX6 has the traditional 1/8 inch buddy box cable input jack but the NX6 does not. The NX6 has a data port, USB input, and a 1/8” headphone jack. Does the NX6 need some sort of adapter to 1/8” plug? I wanted to try a wired connection because the wireless connection sometimes dropped out for some reason when the student was in control. Could the dropout have anything to do with the DSMX rate differing on the two transmitters? I think one was 22ms and the other 11ms.

SPMA3091 is the part you need. It’s always ideal to match frame rate but it’s unlikely that caused drop outs.

Can you tell me why I cannot import models from my sd card on the nx6. When I select import model from transfer card menu, it goes to select file menu and all i see are 2 back folders with no models to select. I know the models are on the brand new card.

I found that anything larger than a 16gb card won’t work. I am using a 16 and have had no problems.

Are all radios set up for an air craft? I bought this from a respected store and he said there is no different to air or ground. Is there a radio that set up just for ground or do I ignore the names and icons of the screen and just set up what I want for my servos. Really disappointed I can have symbols of car or truck and set up related and not an air plane on the screen.

Steve. I just purchased an NX 10. Virtually the first thing I read when I opened the instructions was a statement on the battery safety sheet that states that it should only be used between 4c to 49c (40f to 120f). I do some winter flying in temperatures down to about -10c. Does this mean I have to use a different battery pack or a different transmitter for winter flying. What are the risks?

I flew yesterday for about 20 minutes in 6 degree (F) weather. Risks are low but realize that batteries don't like to be that cold in general. Just like its hard for your car to start on a colder day. You should be perfectly fine, but I wouldn't recommend storing your radio outside and then flying. If you are coming from the car or the house and taking a few flights, you should be just fine :)

Yes unfortunately EU versions of the radio are not compatible with DSM2.

Hi! Steve, I have a situation with my NX10 transmitter, I performed a factory reset on the NX10 Radio and it turned on, I turned it off and on again and that's when the TX did not turn on and the problem arose of not being able to turn on, the screen flashes only the logo of Spektrum appears and the Radio does not work for me. Can I use the battery from my DX8 in the new NX8 I just bought? If so, do I just plug it in ? - or do you have to modify something to get it to work ? Would that give longer use before having to recharge?

You can with just by pulling the foam out and plugging in the bigger battery. It would last longer due to the higher capacity.

@@StevesRC Steve - I don't think you understood my question - I did not ask if a higher capacity battery is available for the NX8. I ask if the battery pack from my DX8 would work in the NX8 - I now know the answer is NO. The connector is different, the bay size is smaller. The stock NX8 comes with a small battery that might get you thru one day of flying. I immediately ordered the pack (3 in the pack). The charging connection is also different. Had I known this ahead of time I would not have bought the NX8. I also don't like that the NX8 using the micro size memory card. The DX8 uses the larger size. The micro is too small - too easy to lose. How are you going to copy your DX8 models to the NX8 ?

Hi steve.i purchased a new nx8 a couple months ago. When I first turn on transmitter I get a headset icon on screen with no function on transmitter. When I turn off and back on headset icon is not there and I have function on transmitter. Sits for more than an hour it happens again. Have you ever seen that.do I have a faulty transmitter.

If you need no more than 10 channels you should be good! If not, check out the ix12 and IX20.

Question. I have had a DX6e for about 2 years after re-entering the hobby. I'm considering upgrading to an NX series TX. Is the NX radio's that much better? Or is it all about the bells and whistles? No issues with the DX6e to date.

Will the Lipo battery in the DX9 work in the NX10? I have one of the first DX9s and bought the Lipo for it, it last for months without charging. I'll probably replace my DX9 it with a NX10 soon. Cheers

It will not. Nx is a 1s requirement. Dx had a higher voltage requirement.

When I started to think about upgrading to an DX8 I heard something on a stream that made me suspisious. I wrote to Spectrum support and ask if it was about to be replaced in a "near" future. The answer I got wasn't any time soon. Now they release a 10 channel radio and discontiue the DX8. Feel quite cheated.

I just bought the NX10 and I am bummed that the Crossfire telemetry does not work like my ix12. The receiver works for flying but telemetry for signal does not. I know my quads are set up right because it works with the ix12. Guess I will return it.

I just got an NX10 and ran into the same Micro SD Card problem. I called Horizon and they recommended no larger than an 8Gb card, lower than Class 10. This size card and class were first introduced 10 years ago. Why use such an old technology... unless the purpose is to do away with a card slot altogether? The smallest card I could find was an 8Gb Class 10 card and it only works sometimes. If Spektrum is going to force the use of an old tech, then provide the card. This is kind of weird. With the inclusion of WiFi for updates and a USB Connection to have your TX show up as a drive on the PC, why have a card slot at all, specially one you can't get a card for?

Thank you Steve. Please show the voice comparison between DX9 and NX10. Can it perform custom voice? Is there a tool available which we can use an app to do the configuration and upload to the NX10. The thumb knob is easy to break. (I replaced a few times already on my DX9). Thanks

Random 3 year late question. If I buy a used nx or even dx transmitter, will I be able to get updates? Will it work or did I just buy a brick?

Yes no problem the NX are still supported obviously the DX just released the last update but are still good radios.

I was going to replace my dx9. But i see is eventually going to be discontinued. My question is . How do i transfer my 10 plane memory to the nx10?

Best way would be to export them to the SD on your DX9 and then bring them over to your NX with an import.

@@StevesRC Kind of a vague answer. So i have to put sd card in pc. Then hunt down where the card is located on my PC on the NX? I suggest a video. Also would there be any issues from the fact that it came from a 9ch to a 10 ch?

Sorry for the delay. We recommend Class 6 or lower. 32gb or smaller. FAT or FAT32. Some class 10s will work from Sandisk and Toshiba.

do the nx radios have vibrate motor like the dx9? also is the speaker better? dx8 had crappy speaker, dx9 is much louder and sounds better.

While I can't say exactly what is coming out. I would say, Horizon/Spektrum understand this need in the market and is working on solutions.

Sense going from the DX series to the TX series the battery drop from a two cell to a single cell did the transmitting power drop as well

Bought a new dx9 black today same price as the nx 10 ... choose the dx9 over the flimsy nx also there is no way transmission distance wont suffer dropping down to only using a single 3.7v cell...makes it and easy choice to buy the older 9x9.

I was in the same boat and just ordered the NX8. The NX8 is only $40 more and also includes a $18 neck strap. The NX8 also has more software capabilities as well. I didn't want to spend $300+ on a transmitter and later down the road wish I would have just spent the extra $40.

I think the price is outrages man! Ive been waiting on getting a new TX since my DX6e broke a month ago and I see finally today the NX6 is available and they dont even include the magnetic charge plug or a descent battery. This thing better live up to be a good one but they could have just made it a 7 channel..NX7 but no that would cost too much..which is BS!

@@StevesRC I apologize for the rant..it just makes more sense to me having the 7th channel programmable for other functions in instead of just SAFE..like on the hobby zone carbon cub being that channel 7 is for the flaps on that RX..would that channel be rates 100% -100% for flaps..Im getting the NX6 no matter what and im sure I will like it as much as the DX6e ive only been in the hobby for a year and its been just wonderful but the amount of money Ive spent at Horizon has been worth every dollar. Im not looking forward to rebinding the 20+ plane I have accumulated the last year. I just hope the NX6 will be worth the 300 bucks.

Battery should be good for about as much as you'd fly in a single day, or you can later upgrade to the 6000 mAh the MX10 has... that would be like an entire weekend of flying.... I am looking to get the NX8... because I see needing the 7 channels...for warbirds... and maybe one extra channel will makenit a bit future proof.... and because it is only like $40 more...

The reason for the new antenna location is not reasonable. It is much more likely people hold the radio up instead of down. I guess it has more to do with the more easy assembly of the antenna which saves money.

DSM2 is not allowed in Europe anymore with new transmitters (since 2015), so European transmitter models probably won't support it (just like previous transmitter models). 😉

I like the fact that there is no android operating system, I like instant on ready to go Systems, a separate Computer, Laptop. I pad connection is the way to go, I don‘t‘ Want to use my radio to check my email! And I surely want to wait for my radio to Boot Up !

Reminds me a little too much of the budget "E" series in how they look. The DX6E series was a little notorious at my airfield, so looking like I have one is a little off-putting. I guess that will change when these become the norm instead of the DX everyone has.

So, you'd get the RadioMaster over any of the Spektrum NXs? Reason I ask is because I'm new to the hobby (right now flying the HZ Sport Cub S 2 RTF) and will need a radio for the UMX Turbo Timber that I plan to be getting and flying Spring 2021. Thanks.

Ill add that its important to research your specific requirements for your rig. I have found it has even more options at a fraction of the cost ecspecially for new entries.

It's nice looking new NX generation but not so impressed with the interface and plastic quality. My last for 3 days and have to send it back for fixing the problem. Interface collapse and screen keeping flash non stop. My old TANK DX9 probably the best spektrum made radio. Hate the IX and try the NX,very disappointing.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Regarding the question of the NX transmitters working with DSM2 receivers, be very aware that the transmitter being sold in Europe are NOT, and will NOT BE, compatible with DSM2, only with DSMX. It is a regulation issue that most probably is never going to change.
