Even Animated movies are now embarrassed to advertise that they’re musicals? It’s from the Composer of The Little Mermaid! Beauty and the Beast! Tangled! Pocahontas! If you’re gonna brag about John Lasseter’s previous accomplishments then brag about Alan Menken’s too!
0:19 i’m just so glad to see that a bug’s life is at least not all the way forgotten it’s a very underrated Pixar movie and it deserves more love and appreciation
Bugs Life is one of the most quoted movies in my friends circle, since most of us saw that movie in the cinema when we were kids. We loved the movie even more than Toy Story. :D
On one hand, I am invested in the story's concept. On the other hand, I'm not sure how to feel about half the gags coming from the implication that the parents lost their humanity mentally along with physically. Daaaark.
Yeah I said it reminded me of Brave and Onward and was going to mention Raya as well. Which is not a good sign considering those movies poor writing choices. This will certainly be the movie of all time😅
All those Pixar movies it advertised (except TS3) were directed by John Lassetter who was fired from Pixar for sexually harassing women, which is why they neglected to use his actual name in this trailer
@@leannebrown02 Yeah don't no why SkyDance is working with the creep. And actually Vicky Jenson is a female director who worked on the movie Shrek & SharkTale while John Lassetter was busy with Monster Inc. So, SkyDance decided to exclude Vicky in order to shove more movies and say "look what John did isn't he such a 'visionary'." Completely ignoring a female director in the process, which makes sense since SkyDance is willing to work with someone who mistreats women.
@@cacklingclouds3662 Yeah, that wasn't lost on me either. It's a shame. I was curiously excited about this one for months until I saw the trailer and found out Lasseter is involved
Fun Fact: Skydance Animation was kicked out of AppleTV+ and unable to make a deal with any distributor who could release their movies in theaters because the projects they're making are too expensive and creatively not good (and this is not to mention John Lasseter's history of sexual misconducts during his time at Disney and Pixar that no one wants to deal with). This trailer alone feels like evidence that this fact is true.
1. They never once said sexual misconduct. No one said that. They said he was too touchy. It literally could be a hug or leaning on someone's shoulder. If he was as bad as Disney is trying to pretend most of his staff wouldn't have quit to leave with him. And, most Disney staff has also quit and works with him now. So I'm not buying what Disney is putting out especially since they are purposefully keeping it vague so we think something bad happend. I have no idea who told you no one wants to deal with him when most of Disney was pissed he was fired and quit their job on the spot to go work for him.
@ElectricDragon505 Here's Another Fun Fact: Apparently Spellbound is going to be written by Lauren Hynek and Elizabeth Martin Who they both Previously Wrote the Mulan 2020 Remake, NOT the Original and that's the only "major film" they have written, Let that let that sink in.
How to avoid that (allegedly) John Lasseter is a serial sexual harasser and abuser, hence the reason he’s not still working with Disney and Pixar, and has found a way to keep doing it.
@@TylerMyers94 It's honestly a cheap gimmick to get people invested just because they have a guy who made popular animated films in the past was involved in production.
@@manuelorozco7760 You know considering the fact that most recent controversies involving celebs are either pedo allegations or actual SA allegations. I think it’s about time that we give Lasseter a break and move on.
@@TheBranMan100 i think we must all forget what Lasseter has done in the past, he had already enough trouble already in this woke time or something, not to mention that Disney has not exactly been in good shape for their quality after they forced him out
Apparently Spellbound is going to be written by Lauren Hynek and Elizabeth Martin Who they both Previously Wrote the Mulan 2020 Remake, NOT the Original and that's the only "major film" they have written, Let that let that sink in.
It looks fun, adorable and I'm going to tell you that when the princess character says ''Oh, they're here! Be Coll''. It didn't sound like Rachel's voice to me, it sounded a little different but then it did.😊😊
Harold and the Purple Crayon also used the song in their trailer, so if I had a nickel for every trailer for a 2024 kids movie used Don't Stop Believing, I'd have--- you know where this is going...
The director of this movie has only done Shrek and Shark Tale in terms of animation. All those other movies were done by this film's producer, John Lassetter, who was the former head of Pixar until he was let go due to sexual harassment of the his female coworkers
john lasseter didn't really make toy story or any of those movies, the guys that actually crafted the story and animation in those movies are Pete docter and Andrew Stanton, who thankfully are in charge of pixar today.
indeed looks fascinating, but i think it wasnt necessary to market much on master John Lasseter since Alan Menken is also involved for the music, in other details, i have a disney passion project in mind that involves him from a japanese disney attraction that shall be the musical key for a true disney hand drawn musical revival
Brave as well. You know, where a parent turns into a “beast” and they have to find a way to change them back into humans and along that plot they bond and get closer
How many times are trailers gonna hide that they're advertising musicals. ALAN MENKEN IS WORKING ON THIS THING. Why wouldn't you want people to know that?
Guys! If it’s a musical? Do you think we’ll be able to get a love story as a side plot for this movie? Alan Menkin’s scores from the Disney Renaissance are quite fantastic.
From the creative visionary behind Toy Story and Cars. Also A Bug's Life. Did we mention Toy Story 2? Oh, and Cars 2? Don't forget Toy Story 3! Falcon: Okay, now it's getting sad.
This will be basically a freaking musical with one of the best singers of Hollywood at the moment who could do this. In nutshell. The other part of the cast will deliver 100%.
@@CherryFilms7 yeah we get it. John directed it and it was a financial success but trying to mention it in the “from the visionary behind” part kind of sounds like a controversial thing to do
"From the visionary behind Tot Story" Seriously? We're going with THIS marketing again? "And Cars" Yep, we're going with this. "Also A Bug's Life" Wait, what are you doing? "Did we mention Toy Story 2" Wait, stop! "Oh and Cars 2" Why are you proud of that?! "Don't forget Toy Story 3" SON OF A BI-! "And the co-director of Shrek" THANK YOU!! Some credit to the director!
I always wanted movies about characters that were turned into something different and finding a way to change back! With help from someone close to them
I dare Skydance to release any upcoming animated film in theaters. Skydance just release Tom Cruise film in theaters but animation is only on streaming service.
Apologies @@adam32634 I don't quite understand what you are trying to explain here? John was fired by Pixar for the scandal but I personally still though he was the powerhouse of creativity. With LUCK and now this, I am starting to see that even the greats of film and animation are falling in creativity and quality.
When the title of the video said (Spellbound), I honestly thought it was going to be a Daniel Spellbound movie. Cause lord oh mighty I'm still waiting for a 3rd season
There is some occasional swearing as hinted in the trailer,(0:54 “Dammit, Crest!”) but other than that I feel this will be a suitable movie for children over 8.
@@cupcakKe_express What do you mean "Wdym"? The MPAA is *_not_* supposed to give higher ratings for having "very mature" content. They're supposed to rate movies for having *_inappropriate_* content. "very mature" =/= "inappropriate". There was NOTHING "inappropriate" in either of the two Inside Out movies to justify those PG ratings.
Two things that rub me the wrong way here: 1. They said this was from the visionary behind "Cars 2". The painfully obvious problem with advertising John Lasseter's involvement aside, anyone trying to spin this having been produced by the director of "Cars 2" as a good thing is clearly asking for trouble. 2. You have Alan Menken as the film's composer, and you think people would be more compelled to watch it by pop songs than the material he composed for the film you're advertising?
I'm genuinely impressed by this movie, but I'm curious why the animation doesn't seem as smooth as Disney's newer films. Is it due to Disney's larger budget or higher frame rates? I'm not trying to start a debate; I just want to understand why Disney's animations often have smoother character movements.
I can't believe I have seen a trailer with so much desperation to be like “the one who brought the PIXAR movies” and everything with the movie so heavily Disney-inspired looks shamelessly obvious as a marketing tool and not the film has creative passion.
Good trailer. Good voice cast including Lion King’s Nathan Lane, Happy Feet’s Nicole Kidman, Shrek’s John Lithgow, Cars’ Jennifer Lewis and a few others. I’m looking forward to watch that.
I'm a little scared this movie will end up as Netflix's Strange Magic. And when will musical movies ACTUALLY promote the songs in the trailers like Disney always does?
What if we read Greek mythology and … oh wait… it’s a trope… for a thousand years we have stories like this. You are not that original as you think. “So there is a chosen one…” Star Wars and half of the hero stories look up… wow what a thing…
I almost forgot that former Disney/Pixar boss John Lasseter is producing this. Oh god… He was let go by Disney and Pixar for unwanted touching and misconduct. Now he’s hired at the new animation studio Skydance Animation.
This actually looks good, the animation is beautiful and colorful, we've got some good production members from Pixar, and I feel like we could use more colorful family movies nowadays. (There's only so much family trauma that we can make into movies until we wonder if something is wrong with this generation's parenting tactics.) I'm definitely gonna check this out when it drops.
It's easy for me to look past when they accused him of 'touching' and purposefully leave it vague so we think the absolute worse happened. In reality he probably hugged someone who didn't like it and complained.
I find it interesting how they try to hide but also showof the worst people are directing without saying it's them... Also main character looks exactly like a younger version of Luck main character.
