A special note from Spencer Brown:
"One blessing of being a musician is meeting fans whose lives you’ve touched. After a show in Atlanta in February, a down-to-earth fan explained that one of his closest friends, Greg Cohen, was battling osteosarcoma (bone cancer) and would love to meet before my set the following night in Washington DC. I was honored to make it happen.
From the instant I met Greg, I knew he possessed a beautiful warmth and an extremely positive aura. He was a longtime SB fan, and he told me that I’d played his last show before his leg was amputated. Now, I was getting to play his first show post-op. I felt so grateful that he’d rallied and was excited for a great night.
Sadly, that show ended up being the last one of his life. Greg passed away on July 16th, at home surrounded by his family. I only met him once, but I’m so glad that I did. I’m grateful my music touched him, and his loss has affected me deeply.
I’ll be throwing an extended sunset set livestream on Saturday (4PM SF / 7PM NYC / 12AM [Sun] London / 9AM [Sun] Sydney) in Greg’s honor. Live from the beautiful Hotel Via rooftop in San Francisco, I’ll perform for 4 or 5 hours-until it’s dark-on Anjuna’s Twitch channel (twitch.tv/anjuna).
All donations from the event will be split evenly between the Sarcoma Foundation charity and to Greg’s wife and future twins (his wife will be carrying on his legacy and giving birth any day now).
Time is truly one of the most precious things we have. It’s a reminder to count our blessings every day. See you all on Saturday on the Anjuna Twitch channel to celebrate Greg’s life."
