For such deep insulation you need to get extra long legs suitable for the boarding to be fixed to - the boards should completely clear the insulation underneath and you should not roll back the insulation. I moved into a new build a few months ago. During the tour of the house with the site manager he emphasised this fact and did not recommend loft storage - incorrectly done could void the warranty.
