A hen do is a day to celebrate your final days before marriage and the fact your getting married. It is completely up to you who you feel deserves to celebrate such a special day. If that is only family, only friends, friends and family, or whoever. That is up to you! Don’t feel pressured into having what is ‘normalised’ for a hen do, because it’s your day about you, nobody else. You’re doing great, it’s okay to be stressed about something that’s important to you. ❤

The amount of emotional and financial stress people put on themselves for a wedding that only lasts a few hours is crazy. You could do a BBQ in your backyard and it will still be the best day of your life. Honestly, it's not worth the stress, just do you and remove the weight of expectations and tradition, you definitely won't regret it. ❤

I felt the same about a hen do, but last month had a garden party hen at my own house and it was perfect!! No pressure, no sweaty clubs and people could come and go as they pleased! We rented karaoke and a hot tub and played loads of games, DIY cocktail class etc!! All I wanted was a fun day with my friends. Don’t put too much pressure on it, everyone is there to celebrate you and have fun xx

Soooo. I’m gonna give you an opinion from the opposing side. As someone who went to 2 hens recently where most people didn’t know each other and it was just a load of “random” friends- let me tell you….it was the BEST CRAIC EVEEEERR!! We all bonded so so much, particularly over our love of the couple getting married ❤ it made the weddings all the more special because we had all made friends with eachother! Your friends love YOU, doesn’t matter if you have to mix groups or nobody knows each other xx

My mum got remarried and wore a bridesmaid dress for her wedding dress, and her hen party was a few friends out for dinner and drinks. I honestly have never seen my mum happier than during her wedding, because she did it in her own way. Some people envision a big white wedding, and some are happier with something more chill. You do you, Zo! Go with your gut and what you want, because it’s your day to cherish forever xx ❤

I felt so deflated after my first appointment. The next day I had my second appointment and I was so much more clear with what I liked/didn’t like about the first appointment dresses and I found my dress! I think it’s important to come away and reflect on the first 5-10 dresses you try on as it can be super overwhelming! So glad I wasn’t the only one that felt like this after my first appointment xx

Ahhh Zoe! I love how honest you are, it’s so refreshing. I went for my first dress try on the other week (as I’m getting next year also) and was so shocked as I thought it would be so much easier to find a dress. I loved them all 😆, it is so hard! It’s so nice watching someone talk about wedding planning and feeling so overwhelmed - sending love! I feel exactly the same. But then I have gone for one big hen, but you can just do whatever you want take other people out of it, and do what’s best for you xx

I didn’t watch this for a few days as I thought I’d feel bad reflecting back on me finding my dress. I now feel reassured that others felt the same as me! I was the same and I found my dress the first shop i went to and then spent ages overthinking it and regretting saying yes so quickly but 6 years on it was the right dress and I loved it. There’s so much pressure! Hen do I felt the same as you. I had a spa weekend with my two sisters and two close friends and it was perfect. Also had a night out with work and uni friends. You do you! ❤️

Oh Zoe, ive been right where you are, with the dress, the hen and how it all made me feel. My wedding process should of been the happiest time but i let all my worries take over and i felt very flat when i should of felt elation. There are no rules for any of it, have any hen do you want/dont want, if you feel amazing in a dress then go for it even if it wasnt what you originally wanted and if it all gets too much step away, regroup and continue when able. Take the pressure off, it will be the most amazing day of your life no matter what. All the best Dani x

Completely understand your feelings of being overwhelmed. Keep visiting different shops and trying on all the styles… it’ll take time but you’ll find the one dress that makes you feel most like ‘you’. Don’t stress about your hen, you’ll come up with a brilliant idea, if like me your family are the most truest friends and support to you go with that 🥰

I got married a couple of months ago and I had 2 hen dos: 1st one was with all my school friends, close friends and family and was your traditional kind of hen do and my 2nd one was a little holiday with just my bridesmaid and maid of honour! It was perfect, I got to celebrate with everyone and then have a calmer more intimate time with my closest girls ❤ Choose what’s right for you! It’s all about you and you can pick at the end of the day! It doesn’t need to please anyone other than yourself! xx

I don’t think I’ve ever related to a video more in my whole life. This was literally how i felt when I found my dress, I thought I’d be that girl who knew what they loved but I’ve ended up with the complete opposite dress! Enjoy the experience and definitely take advice from your family as its such a stressful experience ❤ p.s I’m doing the same a small hen do with my close friends and a big afternoon tea with all my not so close friends and extended family. I went from loving slik almost body-con dress to actually picking puffy with a long train. Also invited other ‘friends’ to compensate for my family that couldn’t at the time fly to uk. Half of them didn’t show up which only made me upset and ended up having hen do with my friend, niece and nephew. So my advice is to invite people that you care about and know that they care about you 😊

I get married in six weeks and I felt the exact same! I never got the “this is the one feeling!” I went into it picturing how it goes on movies lol. I came away deflated! I found my dress in the first shop but I was too overwhelmed to say yes! I had a break for a few weeks and then went to more shops before going back to my original shop to say yes. And I’ve gone for something I didn’t ever imagine! Give dress shopping a break for a few weeks and then go back and try it on again! ❤ your going to look beautiful xx

Just go at your own pace with dress shopping! It’s totally ok to feel overwhelmed. & Gossip girl 100%, i finished it a few days ago and obsessed. xx

I wore a bespoke suit to my wedding this weekend, it was tailored to fit me perfectly and I felt AMAZING 😍 I am not a dress person at all and didn’t want to feel silly and not like myself. My hen do was just a dinner with a few friends and family, it was perfect. Low key and everyone could chat together, would highly recommend.

I totally feel your overwhelm after dress shopping! I went to 6 different shops and tried on every style out there! 😅 The more i tried on, the more i realised what suited me and what i liked. I also went for comfortability as i knew i would eat and dance loads on the day! Also bare in mind what type of wedding your having, beach, barn etc. In terms of hen do, i just took my closest girlfriends, some didnt know each other and my mum and sister. My friends and i dont drink, so we booked a cottage in wales with a hot tub and went walking, played games and just generally relaxed & chatted. Alot of the people i invited, didnt end up coming. My advice would be to do something you enjoy doing, with your closest people. Everyone else can come to your wedding! Love following your journey and thank you for sharing! ❤

Yes yes yes, it can be that simple! I don't enjoy drinking and partying, so my sister is planning my hen party (only 7 people in total) and it's around all the things I love doing rather than 'the norm' and I cannot wait! Please do not stress about your hen 😊 xo

I'm having three separate small hen dos - one with mine and my fiancé's immediate families, one with extended family and older family who can't travel far, and one with my friends! I went for my first dress appointment last week, definitely overwhelming, and even when you find one you like, everyone wants you to be so overjoyed afterwards but I was exhausted and then same as you thought I need to try on so many more and was in my own head!! It's very idealised and fairytale ideals and it's just not always going to be an entirely perfect day ❤

I went to 7 dress shops until I found the one! I honestly found it so overwhelming and so much pressure to get that “this is the one” feeling so was disappointed that I wasn’t getting it! I ended up going back to a shop I’d already been to because I kept thinking about their dresses and luckily did have a special moment where I knew it was right! Although, it does keep me up at night wondering if I’ve made the right choice 😂 Just try to enjoy the experience, try on styles that you wouldn’t think you’d like because you might be surprised ❤

I believe there are no rights or wrongs. A wedding is basically just a day where you and the love you have for you partner is being celebrated! If you want to go to Dubai with your sister to be treated to some new and relaxing experiences before the wedding DO THAT! 🤍🫶🏼 Ps. Your going to look stunning in any wedding dress anyways it’s just all about feeling comfortable and content within yourself that day. Zoe I remember feeling the exact same way after a couple of wedding dress appointments! The truth is your dress will never feel perfect until right before the wedding when it’s actually fitted to you, try not to focus on it being perfect, more how you feel in it because my dress has made me feel more and more confident each time it has fitted better. But take your time ❤ and when you choose your dress don’t look at anything wedding dress related or pics of your dress until much closer to your wedding or you’ll put yourself off it. I had a very small hen do abroad because I just don't have a big group of friends. I loved my hen do, I had my most close family members and my best friend, it was small but perfect, more like a holiday tbh! Hen do's don't always need to be huge and over the top! I picked my wedding dress at the first shop I went to, I tried on loads of dresses at the shop but as soon as I tried on my dress I knew it was the one! My dress is also nothing like what I had in my mind before going into a shop but I absolutely love it! My advice is to be open minded, also don't put too much pressure on yourself with the hen do, mine was small and simple and not your "typical" hen do! :)

I went for my first wedding dress shopping day yesterday and am feeling the exact same as you! Feel really overwhelmed and flat and exhausted from having to look at my body for hours on end. I found two that I liked but afterwards I started talking myself out of both of them. Going to book another place next week and maybe go back to the others I found to see how I’m feeling. Breath! Lol I had all your thoughts as a bride. For my Hens I invited family and a couple of friends (8 of us I think), we went for afternoon tea and swapped stories. It was lovely. For my dress- I got one with pockets and wore customised converse. I looked like ‘the typical bride’ in photos but I knew I had pockets and converse lol I felt special and like me at the same time! I was in the exact same boat in regards to hen do. Loads of friends but not CLOSE friends, and again don’t know each other. So I decided on just 1 night away with my sister and 3 other bridemaids and it was the best decision!! I wasn’t worried about the dynamic of the group or people getting on/feeling left out. Then I had a night in with mum and sister few weeks later 🥰 hope that helps!! X

I also had a really weird / stressful experience the first time I went dress shopping cause none of the dress I liked fit me and it looked so silly! I just ended up looking more style that would fit my body type and went to another shop and ended up buying one the lady recommended I never would have picked 😅 take your time, think about it, you will find a dress it might just take longer! For hen do, I also didn’t want to do one til last minute and ended up doing a really fun day in London with brunch and a show - super low key but really fun with a small group 😊 you got this Zoe!! Totally felt the same after I first went dress shopping. I also would advise not going to too many shops, I ended up going to 4 shops over 2 days and I was just overwhelmed by choice! Too much choice can be a bad thing! I also didn’t get that “this is the one”, I loved 2 and really couldn’t decide and still kept thinking about the other one right up until the wedding! But in the end it was the right choice and you will look beautiful whatever you choose xx

I had my hen party just with my 4 bridesmaids and it was the best decision ever, no drama and could just party and have a good time without worrying about anyone! Your wedding is about you there’s no need to follow certain traditions because you think you have to x

Hi Zoe. I felt funny about wedding dress shopping as I didn’t feel like a typical (what I always think to be) “classy” and “elegant” bride. I tried so many on, so many styles just to rule them out, and found my dress in the 3rd shop (after having two maybes in shop 1&2). So my advice would be try loads on and you’ll work out what you’re after! As for the hen do, do what makes you happy and doesn’t make you feel anxious!

this was so me 5 years ago! I ended up going on my own to find my dress and it was much better as I found all the opinions overwhelming! looking back now I think I probably should have brought my hubby with me cause he would have been better to help decide. Another RU-vidr did that and it seemed such a good idea now. Also hen do I was the same so I just did my mum, sister, auntie, sister in laws and cousins. no friends and we just went to a ukulele festival and cookery school. Don't worry about the dress you can wear what you want, you will know what dress you want when you find it. You also don't need to wear a dress you could wear a jumpsuit and you can customise lots of dresses to suit you! I also think it's finding the right shop too - the shop I found and went on my own the girl was lovely and had soo many unique style of dresses. best of luck with it but don't stress - my sister had a covid wedding and wore a dress from ASOS - was lovely!!

Hey Zoe! Definitely do what you want to do for the hen do and wedding. This is your time and your choice. I know I’ll just have some close family at mine. Also, I think it would be a nice idea for Molly to film you when you go wedding dress shopping again so that if you do find the one, you’ll have everyone’s reactions on camera to keep as memories and then (only if you’re comfortable, of course) you can share the ones you don’t decide to choose 💕

I’m engaged and will be having a long engagement, but I’m stressing about this too. I’m in a similar position to you that I have friends from home up north, friends from uni and friends where I live now, but I’m not super close with any of them. I have two sisters but I’m only close with one of them so I’m also torn about the bridesmaid situation. I felt so overwhelmed and almost embarrassed the first time I went! But I think then it’s kind of ‘out of your system’ and my second experience was so different for the better! Plus I researched online and found a designer I liked and went to a shop that stocked them 😊

I genuinely thought about how lovely it would have been if my wedding venue had been more intimate. Looking back, I wholeheartedly suggest considering a smaller gathering with just your closest friends and loved ones. Trust me, it's truly enough. My friend did a hen do in the Peak District, a big house with us all. We had karaoke and cocktails one night, then one day went for a hike and then got a Sunday dinner at the pub then one day we did wreath making with the dried flowers and all got to take them home, we also did paint balling 🤣 It was actually really lovely and felt like a little holiday and so wholesome and different to most hen do’s!

Also stop overthinking ❤ it’s your day, your dress (and his 😊) don’t worry about what other people think or what society tells you you should be doing because everyone else is doing it. Make the choices for you ❤

Always watch greys! Lol... don't force a hen if you're not feeling it. Remember its your wedding preparations so only do whats gonna make you happy. If that's a night with just a few people in Manchester do that theres lovely places for cocktails. Or go on a holiday but if money is tight don't force it on yourself either. I love watching your videos think you're such an honest, humble and genuinely lovely woman. ❤

I felt the same about the "hen do" ( or as we call it; the Bachelorette party in Canada haha) I move around a lot because of military wife life so a lot of my friends I hadn't seen in a long time. My husband and I ended up eloping, and a couple of my friends from the place we were currently living in basically planned a bachelorette party for me afterwards. They were my closest friends at the time, but now again I havent seen them in 3 years. But Im so happy they did that for me even if we arent the closest anymore. My advice would be to just reach out and invite anyone you once were close with, instead of regretting it! Good luck ❤

The 1st dress shop is stressful! Totally normal for it to be on your mind, go to as many shops as you can - you're only doing it once so make the most of it 😂 It will get easier and more fun I promise! As for the hen do whatever YOU want to do, if anyone gets upset they can't be true friends x

I know exactly what you mean about feeling embarrassed at the first try on appointment. I found the feeling very hard to explain but basically felt like I was sort of "dressing up" and the dressed looked like fancy dress? Don't worry though! I went to 5/6 different places and when I tried on my dress I just knew it was the one, and the main thing for me was feeling comfortable and like myself! :) Best of luck with the next appointments! I think this really common. I was completely convinced about the dress I wanted, sleeved, no train, no puff, sleek, silk, classic. I tried it on and HATED it. The lady in the shop advised me to try on one of each style, she had booked me the whole afternoon out to just try on whatever I wanted. The dress I ended up going for and fell in love with, I actually picked up as a joke. It was a full on 'princess' dress, huge big train, tight corseted top, sleeveless, strapless. As soon as I tried it on, I just knew that was it, but its so hard to come round to the idea that the dress you thought you were going to get married in for so long, isn't the dress at all. It is just why you have to try on everything. Trust me, once that dress has been altered to fit you perfectly, you will fall in love (not always easy when its clipped up behind you, I was a size 6/8 when I got married and most dresses in the shops are a 12, in one place they used bulldog clips 😂)

I'm not having a massive hen do, or a normal one! I don't like going out and drinking into the early hours, but I love a fancy meal, mini golf and a spa day so that's what I'm doing! I too don't have lots of friends, but I'm inviting the people who have been there with my through thick and thin, and those who I couldn't imagine the hen without! In terms of dress shopping, I went to 2 dress shops and found nothing I liked. Tried on the style I wanted and hated some of them, tried on a different one that made me feel amazing but it didn't feel like me. I came away feeling so stressed and overwhelmed but I really thought about how I wanted to feel. In the end I went to a 3rd shop, found a style I knew I wanted but completely different in decoration. In the end I tried on around 15 dresses before I said yes. I knew it was the one as I was so comfortable and didn't want to take it off!

I bought/ordered a dress about 15 months before getting married and then about 7 months before decided it wasn't 'the one' so when it arrived I sold it haha and in the meantime went shopping again and bought another! I really think you would suit the style I had, Hayley Paige layered skirt and fun dress! Hen do wise - just do what you want - I think one night, this country all in and you are done! Don't go abroad for one if you don't want to and go on holiday like you say/city break with a few close pals :D xxx

Im getting married myself and i found my dress at Dotty Bridal in Holmfirth and the whole experience was just amazing the girls there are just the best and just want whats best for you couldnt I will recommend them to everyone!! I had 3 appointments booked but Dotty was my first and found my dress with them straight away! I really wasnt expecting to either so had to cancel the other 2! Sounds so cheesy but you will know when you find the one❤️ x

A spa trip away with a couple friends and family is a lovely way to have a low key hen do! Or hire out a large house and do games and a meal out. I went to one on wales and we went to Chester and did activities and a meal/ night out. Hardly anyone knew each other and it was fab xx

I went to ten wedding dress shops before finding my ‘dream dress’. Just have an open mind, don’t panic and go with what you love without rushing into something. As for you hen, just have those you really want and know will have in your life in the future, sounds bad but friends come and go in life, it’s about what YOU want not what is expected from others. Relax and enjoy the process x

The best hen do Ive been on was a trip away with the bride and her 2 other bridesmaids (we all know each other) she originally arranged one with 20 people but had to be cancelled due to lockdown restrictions which I was really pleased about as felt anxious about going with lots of people I didnt know. The other hen dos ive been on I never really enjoyed them as no one knew each other so can be tricky. A small family/close friend hen do sounds ideal to me!

Zoe, It is good that the dress you thought you wanted you are now adamant you do not like - being not sure would be worse. You can elimate that style/type now. The one you tried & liked, yes try others in the same style & take it from there - good plan. Did you have pictures taken of yourself trying them on. They do not have to be anything grt obviously, just a quick basic pic - might find helpful - looking at a pic of yourself in the dresses when back at home. Apologies if you have already thought of this or if you think it is something you would rather not do. Take your time Zoe - on your wedding day you will looking stunning I am sure.

Hen do plannjng is stressful because you never want to offend anyone😅 mine is this weekend and next weekend! My first hen is a group of all my friends (they don’t all know eachother!) and we are having drinks. my second hen do is my mum, my fiancés mum and my bridesmaids for a chilled weekend away❤ don’t feel like you have to please everyone… do what feels right! Nowadays there is so much pressure on something fancy when it’s not about that.. it’s about celebrating you ❤❤

We’re going to Cyprus for my boyfriends sisters wedding next year and the other day she had a belated engagement party so we could meet some of the people going as we hadn’t met them before,when we go away we’re all having a mini hen do in cyprus a few days before the wedding x

My wedding dress was very different to the one i always dreamed of i tried the type i loved and i didnt love it on me at all but the one i chose was beautiful. Its surprising what you end up choosing lol. And with your hen do just do what you want to do i made the mistake of letting people organise mine and dont get me wrong i had a great day but it isnt what i would of choosen for myself. All i would say is just make sure that you do what you want to do as its your day. ❤❤

I felt so similar at my wedding dress appointments! It all felt unnatural and I was so embarrassed with all eyes on me. Give it time give it time you will know the one, I ended up with such a wild card and before I found this one I thought I loved one but I didn’t have ‘that feeling’ then when I tried in this wild card that fitted in so many places I never imagined and was totally different but I ABSOLUTELY had that feeling ❤ Ps. My hen do was so chill and yess it was so hard to know who, same as wedding so many people had opinions and it was so bloody hard but everyone outside the situation told me it’s important it’s for us not anyone else, and yes your hen do could be that simple! My hubby had no want for a stag so he went for a pub meal, a pint and a bit of crazy golf with his dad my dad and his brother in law, job done 😅

I’m just the same with having few friends and they don’t know one another. It’s super challenging at times but my hen do will be intimate and a blast with only a few of the girls who know me best! And of course a day with the mums and aunties etc :) I’m going go karting, how untraditional is that!

I’d recommend Station 19 it’s the spin off of Greys and has a lot of the characters appear in it! You also get to see the other side of some storylines

I had a small hen do, drinks in the garden with family, aunties cousins etc. then that evening 4 friends went out for drinks in town. Met up with the stag do in the evening because the only person I really wanted to go out and celebrate with was my husband!
