I hope everything goes well for the upcoming surgery! She might want a small belly pillow to hold against her belly when she moves or coughs for a few days afterwards. A folded sheet or towel in a pillow case will work too. She will do great with you taking care of her! I had 3 major abdominal surgeries with one having to go through my belly button. I also have an umbilical hernia too and it was supposed to be fixed during a major surgery but they just did the surgery. My belly button was damaged during pregnancy and never healed.
@@teresaplusfive The first 2 were c-sections and the 3rd was a full hysterectomy, the last was the one when they were supposed to fix the hernia. I healed fairly fast from the sections but the hysterectomy took a lot longer. It was probably a good 6 months for that one. I have other illnesses that do cause healing to take a lot longer though. The belly pillows was my best friend! It was with me all the time! Tell her when she moves, laughs or coughs to just very gently press the pillow a bit on her navel area. It will help with the pull and make her feel a little more secure about the incision staying closed. When it gets itchy from healing, lightly use the soft part of the finger tips and not nails to relieve the itch. During my hysterectomy, they went in laparoscopically through 4 holes in my belly, one was in my belly button and that one took the longest to heal and was the most bothersome.
Glad she likes the book. They called them colorforms when I was a kid. If they stop sticking, just wash them off. They will start sticking again. I sent some of my favorite things from my childhood.
