@@F4b14n30 In this simulation, I am just using CONTROL SPH with the default parameters. In fact, in all my other videos, I am using the same setting. I have read about SPH_INTERACTION in LSDYNA conference paper where they considered multi phase flow. I never used it though.

@kun zhang Try to increase the stiffness factor of master and slave. Also, try to use SOFT = 1 if the materials that in contact have different stiffness. thank you for the video sir. I was trying to simulate impact of the projectile on a target using SPH method for both projectile and target plate. What contact should I specify between those two?
@@AmeenTopa Thank you sir for the reply. I ran the simulations with target plate modeled using JH-2 model, but I'm not observing any fragmentations, it only shows simple penetration. What can I do?
Hi Ameen, Great video, another really useful tutorial. I'm currently working through your video tutorials as my masters project involves hyper velocity impacts. I was just wondering if you were still planning on releasing a tutorial for modelling the impact scenario shown at the start of this video (SPH projectile and SPH target). I've tried to simulate is using your other tutorials but keep getting error messages. Thanks.
Dear Thomas, May I know what errors you are facing? I am working on an article publication where I use SPH vs SPH in high velocity impact. Once the paper is published, I will be making the tutorial.
@@AmeenTopa I have set up an SPH impact zone with solid impactor to test the tied_nodes_to_surface keyword setup from your tutorial but when i run the simulation using other keywords from a few of your tutorials the projectile passes through the SPH zone without effecting the particles at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I'm looking forward to seeing this publication
@@thomasshallcross8304 You have said solid projectile? So you have solid element impacting on SPH target? You need to defined Nodes to Surface contact. I have mentioned this in my Bird-strike tutorial. If it is SPH vs SPH, then you don't need to define any contact. The SPH particles will interact with each other by default. Make sure to define CONTROL SPH with CONT = 0. Also, make sure that you have defined the SPH properly. You must insert the density of the SPH material when you use SPH Generation tool.
@@AmeenTopa yes my final goal is to have SPH to SPH but I'm trialling SPH impact zone with solid projectile first to familiarise myself with the setup. I will check those things and try again. Would you say SPH to SPH is easier to set up than SPH to solid then if theres no contact definition required? Thank you so much for your help. I appreciate it
@@thomasshallcross8304 No necessarily because in general SPH is more difficult to control than Solid Elements, in my opinion. You are welcome, hope you manage to do it.
Hi, thank you for the video, it's very useful. This might be a bit niche but I'm currently looking at hypervelocity impacts on structures created by overlapping spheres. I'm trying to reduce the memory needed by using this technique but I'm having problems with creating flat surfaces to use to couple the elements. I've tried creating solid shapes, which I can then cut to get flat surfaces, but I haven't managed to successfully mesh them. I have also tried using solid sphere meshes but can't get a flat surface from them to couple them to the SPH part. I would be very grateful if you had any advice. Thanks!
