words cant explain how mssive they were for young girls in the 90's. They were insanely huge, every school had their own groups of Spice Girls impressionists. Not one single girl failed to imagine themselves as one of the girls.
Absolutely!! I was born in 90 and was completely enamored with them as a kid. So I have blue eyes and as a kid I had super blonde hair... So of course naturally my fav spice girl, was baby spice, obviously! lol. At one point, I must've been watching 'spice world', like once a month. At times maybe even more! lol. But I just wanted to see (and enjoyed seeing) myself represented in the media I consumed, just as any other child would. Though unlike just any other child, I never lacked seeing myself represented in media throughout my childhood. But a lot of kids did...and many do, still today! The lack of diversity in all areas is unfortunate because as a child, it can be really critical in their development! In childhood, representation in media boosts children's self-esteem and self-image, helping them feel seen and understood. So that's just another reason why I'm such a fan of the spice girls, to this day... Because in the 90s when there was even less diversity in the mainstream media, then there is today (and there's still not enough. IMO), the spice girls blew up and they were a girl group that consisted of 5 very different and diverse young women. Making it (more) possible for all girls to feel more seen, understood and confident. Uhgg, I miss those days!! ♡
the platform shoes and t-shirts of them were everywhere when i was 11 not one girl didn't have pumped platform shoes in my class. even the boys had major crushes on them.
@@annettevanduyn9701 No, Little Mix is the biggest female group(not girl band because they are not singing in live performances at instruments like bands) ACTIVE RIGHT NOW, while Spice Girls are the biggest female group EVER(all of time). The biggest female groups ever in the world(updated in feb 2022): 1. Spice Girls, The Supremes - 90M 2. The Andrews Sisters - 80-90M 3. 2NE1, Little Mix, TLC - 65M(alphabethical) 5. *AKB48,* Destiny's Child - 60M(alphabethical) 6. *The Pussycat Dolls* - 55M 7. @@TheEgagaga You are the deaf here, kiddo. blackpink are just solo artists, not group. They can't do nothing like group and they can't even sings their own songs live, lmao. The proof: they use backtrack more louder than the mic, and don't make excuses like: "tHeY aRe DaNcInG" because: 1. They are called SINGERS, and what singers should do? TO SING! 2. Isn't yg's fault(I know, you will say: it's yg's fault because they are focused on dancing and not singing, lmao) 3. IT'S IRRELEVANT
OMG I loved this era in music, fashion, dance and attitude... So much fun and freshness. I love the Spice Girls!!! 90's and 2000 seems like a lifetime ago.
I've been on a major 90s nostalgia kick, and I count myself so lucky to have grown up in such an amazing time. Anyone not alive during the reign of the Spice Girls has absolutely no idea how massive they were. I've seen kids say that Kpop is bigger, but not even close. Kpop has a large group of die-hard (oftentimes obnoxious beyond belief) fans, but the Spice Girls achieved true world domination.
kpop could be massive around the globe if they sang in more languages beside korean and made content relatable for people outside korea but if they start acting like any other american band it wouldnt be kpop anymore🤷♀️
What a great video. What an iconic and timeless band they are. The fashion has changed a lot since the 90s but they are so good to watch again and again. And although they and their "spice" personalities were created by some show business specialists no other band could ever beat them. They may not be the best singers but their voices are just remarkable. Their looks, mimics, moves. They are and always will be the one and only Spice Girls.
You underestimate their hand in their own careers, which is what really set them apart from other groups (before and since). The 'Wannabe' video is actually a fictionalized recreation of the way the girls promoted themselves to management groups after _literally running away with their masters_ from a management team who were moving too slow in an attempt to mold them (kind of in the way you see K-Pop groups). _And_ they were really involved in writing their own songs, including _Wannabe._ I'd highly recommend the Trash Theory video, "The Tangled Legacy of Spice Girls & "Wannabe" | New British Canon." It's well done and incredibly interesting.
@@jacksyoutubechannel4045 I'm not so sure about it. I've seen recordings of their rehearsals and the time they spent on making the first album. They definitely were performers (Melanie C was indeed a gymnast) but they hadn't had these particular and consistent looks before Spice Girls. As for writing of the album, maybe they really had much to say hence their unbeatable phenomenon...
So few girl groups have done what Spice Girls accomplished during their time. All the girls wanted to be in their band, while all the boys had crushes on them. These young ladies were amazing back then, and their songs still stand up against time. We can only hope that the girls of today look at what Spice Girls did, and were about during their heyday, the only other band I can think of that had their level of girl power was the Supremes
That is one beautiful masterpiece collection of Melanie B ( Scary Spice ), Emma ( Baby Spice),Geri ( Ginger Spice), Victoria ( Posh Spice) and Melanie C ( Sporty Spice) The SPICE GIRLS commemorative of Wannabe being 25 years anniversary good video
What a beautiful montage of old clips. I teared up. Nostalgia is a sad and beautiful thing. I wish I can go back. I miss the Spice Girls, I miss the 90s. I had all their albums, watched their movie, haha.. Watched all their concerts I can see on video. Sadly, I could never see them live. I wish I had. I love that fact that most female celebrities now has grown up looking up to the Spice Girls and for them to mention the Spice Girls so randomly in their interviews sometimes makes me so happy. It somehow gives a sense of pride and comfort for me. I love this group soooo much, you have no idea!
Good old days. They were our idols, our inspirations back then. We were just kids when they were huge celebrities, at the peak. But still then I knew every songs of Spice girls. Their songs were so catchy. Most iconic was their Buffalo platform shoes. Just watching their styles, shoes were so mesmarising for us kids. We are from Non English Speaking Country and for us to know them, their each and every songs, their styles, their names, their personalities, just like kids now know about BTS each and every member´s personalities through social media but back then we knew about them with no Social media promotions means they were huge stars. Queens💝

I just realise that in my 30's I can finally wear all this clothes that my mom didn't want me to wear (and she was right) in my early schooldays so it's make me happy
I always love these girls, it takes me back to when I was a teenager, growing up on this music was really an interesting adventure. Oh and I cry when they had break up😭😥
Love these girls they get your juices going. I never get to see these women who can still move good. I live in Texas Southwest they would never come to my home town they are classy ladies from England. At least I can dream.
... 2:32, Geri's honeyblonde hairstyle she got around April 6th or 7th, 1998 - her last seven weeks within the group. btw, LipeHall your video is a marvellous collage of memories for a marvellous, unbeatable, and unrepeatable group of artists.
Yep, saw them live on April 4th 1998 and her hair was still dyed red with blonde streaks (i know it wasnt a wig as I could see her roots coming through lol)
saudades, esse tempo não volta mais não, melhor época da música pop e da minha vida .se agente tem saudades, imagine elas que viveram na pele tudo isso
