The African locust bean is a perennial deciduous tree of the Fabaceae family.‪ It is found in a wide range of environments in Africa and is primarily grown for its pods that contain both a sweet pulp and valuable seeds. Where the tree is grown, the crushing and fermenting of these seeds constitutes an important economic activity.
Bringing viewers the history of fashion and the origin of designs, SPICE Origins will delve into the history of the fashion world; traditions, trade, trends and names to know. New episode shows on Saturdays at 2:00 PM (+1HR CAT) Spice TV Dstv CH192.

@@annieel3938 Annie I just watched the video again. I cannot translate because I am just crying because I understand everything. My Yoruba has come back even more powerfully. The women were talking about how they would go to the market to purchase the raw locust beans and then begin their preparations. Locust beans has a pungent smell. But the taste is out of this world!! It is unbelievable that something that aromatic could taste so good!!!!!!! In fact, I just used some in a soup an hour ago!!!! Got it at Adom African Market here in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

I'm sure they're talking about how they ferment it, but this is extremely frustrating for those who do not speak Yoruba.

These women hold pride in the amount of labor that goes into processing these plants, too bad I'll never know that process. Maybe I'm a little hangry but disrespecting the translation like that has me feeling some type of way.

Tyra Hairston you have to wash it, the smell leaves after you cook it and it starts to smell very very delicious after. I could give you a Yoruba stew recipe that can be eaten with anything, from rice to bread to pounded morsels
