If I may say so: this is maybe your best editing yet! I dig the “swoosh” parts between sections of the lesson and you also had great energy! Of course awesome lesson 💪😎
Yo bro thanks so much for this video ! For the begginer (like me) You forgot to say that on the lick n 4 the third right hand is played on the snare :)) Lick 4 definitely my favourite ! Cheers !
Mastery of tip and shank on hat why his grooves groove. Have you did a lesson on that? I'm guessing your shank, tip, shank, tip..eighth notes are unconcious. Wish mine was..
Say Hi 2 your hat 🙄🙋♂️.. 7 strokes roll works fine for me. Stay positive C. J and we forget about Abba 😂🤐🥂 Those 8-10 cymbal Sound, s greasy (fat/great) your good. Or God.
Great video CJ. Bump it 👊🏻 Those Hi-hat licks are friggin awesome!! You break them down so clearly I feel a storm of inspiration every time. Insert sound of footsteps beating 😆 their way to the kit. They are so applicable and cool I just gotta wedge these into my practice routine. Still working on your other 5 easy licks. All in good time ... all in good time ... Thanks for being there! 🖖🏻
Dude, that is so great to hear! I’m so humbled to hear from my viewers that they’re liking and working on the lessons I’m posting. You’re gonna do great, buddy. Just start off slow and you’ll get all of it down!💪 Thank you for the always amazing support!
You are so thoroughly intelligently presented. And perfect sound. My respect. You will help future drummers a lot. In my opinion, one of the best presentations on RU-vid. I wish you the best of luck in your future work. Sorry, I'm using a translator.
This is such a great video, exactly what i was looking for, thanks man! At 7:19 isn't the paradiddlediddle started on the second eigth note of the bar? So the 1+?
I'm currently playing a Meinl cajon kit, so hi hat grooves are really useful! Any advice on keeping things interesting (and making the snare sound good) using that kit?
You definitely can, but depending on the model/brand of the electronic drums - the dynamics might not be the best and it might sound "flat". You should still practice it though and then apply it when you can to an acoustic kit :)
Hello CJ. Just to tell you you're revelation to me in drummers comunity. Up to your explanations, I improved my playing way better. Way how you describe is phenomenal. I started to watch you recently but every your new video is treasure. Thanks a lot! Best regards from Belgrade, Serbia. Zoran
Very nice inspiration!! Thx! What I don‘t understand though: why is the sticking so importanz if thete is no alternation between drum? Some you vould also play with rlrlrl instead of for instance rlrrll
You can play that as well, but the paradiddle diddle creates an entirely different flow. Single strokes can sound very rigid, but since this sticking has double strokes (diddles) in it, it flows better :)
@@ThatSwedishDrummer Just being honest. You should be able to handle criticism a bit better or just turn off the comments completely if a strangers statement disturbs you that much. The only reason I mentioned it is because it’s a distraction for me personally. However I wouldn’t expect someone to change who they are just to satisfy a person with whom they’ll never meet. That nonsense aside, I made no mention of your content which is really why you make these videos. You’ve got a great musical approach and feel. The breakdowns of certain riffs or grooves that you feature are really REALLY good as is the production quality. Your drums are tuned melodically so whatever you’re playing sounds like something I’ve never heard before. You definitely get an “A” in my book and I truly enjoy your content. That’s what I should’ve said instead of making a lame comment about your hair color
Man…… if you don’t stop stealing from people. Especially how you talk. It’s so irritating when someone steals a persons entire swag. Even my words and my snare tone dang man. People will hate me but wow. The entire salt and seasoning 🫤🫤🫤omg
Eric, first of all: great to see you here! Never thought you’d pop by my channel, that’s awesome! Second: I haven’t stolen anything. There are 8billion people in the world, so you’re bound to hear someone with a “similar” drum sound, but bro - we don’t even play with the same gear. Coincidence. And also, the “seasoning”-thing is not very original anyway. You’ve probably said it in a video, so again - coincidence. But I think I actually got the inspiration from Gavin Harrison, where he once said “fills and licks are like making a pasta sauce. You wanna get it just right, but with too many spices - it’ll be ruined.” But hey, if you feel infringed upon, I’m sorry to hear that. I appreciate you commenting though ✌️🔥
