Despite suffering damage from peach leaf curl, western flower thrips, and a late season hail storm, the Spice Zee Nectaplum continues to be one of my favorite fruit trees. The red leaves and the delicious white flesh fruit make it like no other in my orchard.
Are you wrestling with any of these issues? Are you applying copper or spinosad? What results are you finding on your trees? Let me know in the comment section below.

Our 4-in-1 low chill hours peach tree was affected very badly this year by leaf curl. We had a lot of rain this spring. We plan to apply copper fungicide next winter.

My nectaplum is growing like crazy as it enters it's 2nd summer, but only has a few fruit on it. Last year I think it had thrips based on finding some gummy substance on the small fruits, and they never ripened well. Haven't found evidence this year. It's a beautiful tree and love the foliage, but not nearly as precocious as the peaches planted at the same time. My plum tree seems to also be slow to produce much fruit so maybe it gets this characteristic from that parentage?

I'm sorry to hear you're not getting a high for yield. Check out these two things: The discharge on the fruit sounds like it might be gummosis. It affects peaches. Secondly, many nectaplums are on citation rootstock, and citation has a reputation of being finicky with it's watering requirements. Search around a bit and see if what you're doing to your tree matches with what is recommended with citation. Good luck!

It wont hurt to spray an organic copper fungicide while dormant.

The ingredients in copper fungicide, even when organic, are believed to be harmful to bees.

@@fletcherfarm But the tree will be dormant without bees visiting. It's all about what you spray on the flowers that the bees are visiting.

Is THAT what those are called?!? I see those pretty frequently, but never knew the name. I'll have to keep an eye out. Thank you for sharing your experience.
