Maangchi, I love this I tried and did the fried rice but w added two egg and fried rice. It was delicious. When I go to Korean Market I travel 2 hours. I live in Gallup, New Mexico. I travel to Albuquerqueto get my Korean food. I love it❤❤❤ thank you

Omg maangchi! I remember when I was younger(almost a decade ago) I used to make my mum cook your recipes for me (I am from India) and she would change the ingredients because not everything was available. Then I completely forgot about your channel and suddenly I found you again today. You still look the same, didn't age at all and your accent is still so cute! Cant wait to start eating those recipes again.

Hey, I'm from India too! Actually I can't find the Gosari or the mung bean sprouts, what veggies would you recommend in their place? Cause I really want to make this... I'm thinking maybe capsicums and mushrooms?

I agree with you regarding the cleaning of meat! You are one of the cleanest You Tube cooks I have ever seen. When I see others that are not clean, I say nothing and move on, but trust me your efforts appreciated.

The reason I like to clean the chicken is because of the modern packaging of chicken, so often the chicken has excess water that just doesn't look or feel right. We don't have a old school butcher to get meat from , at least in smaller cities.

@@knightofnil67 If you are interested, you can do a search online for pastured or pasture-raised chicken in your area. Alternatively, you can opt for a delivery service such as Butcher Box or another farm that will deliver to you if you have trouble finding a quality butcher.

Seeing the Home cooks on YT really delights me because just like my Maa they dont let anything go to waste. (The professionals r really good at wasting much stuff while they cook fancy). See how Maangchi even used the boiling broth to clean out n use the left out Spice mix from the bowls...love n respect. I simply ❤ Maangchi, unlike most others, she is so down-to-earth, funny, no-fuss, no-fancy cook...u really feel her warmth in her videos....exudes maternal vibes.

I think all people that were raised on a budget or still have grandparents that grew up during the great depression teach use everything and will use the broth to clean out the excess. I know my grandmother taught me. I think the fancy cooks are just cooking to cook they aren't cooking with the mindset of a way of life. You know what I mean?

I love watch maangchi cooking bc she puts water in the chili paste bowl..most cooking channel dont do that..i dont want to waste any single thing..my mom always said dont waste foods, we should be thankful bc we have all this..not everyone can eat everyday.. Sorry for my bad english

I suspect that many of the people who claim they can get daepa are actually mistaken, and think they are the same as leeks, which they’re not. Daepa (aka negi in Japanese) are basically giant green onions. They have more or less the same flavor, and the same delicate, juicy texture, as regular green onions, and are commonly eaten raw or cooked. Leeks look similar, but are much tougher, denser, and drier, and have a different flavor. They’re essentially always cooked, to soften them.

Antonio Tejada I was gonna ask if its leeks but ure right they look like large green onions. However I love leek soup yumm. Some of the stuff Mangchi shows us is a challenge to find in the Vietnamese store I go to:) I moved away from the city and theres no Korean stores around me. Is there a place online I could order stuff from.

Omg! Maangchi we're the same. We always wash our chicken and meats with salt. It is more clean that way and removes any odors from the meats. You're so awesome maangchi ❤️

I just love how you don’t waste anything. I’m from the Caribbean so we wash everything meat and fish with lime,lemon ( it gets rid of the freshness especially if you at some to the meat when seasoning before cooking ) ,sometimes we use vinegar too or even a mixture of salt and flour ( it keeps meat soft and cleans it well with out making it tough .

In Michigan my mother and I used to pick fresh gosari!!! It’s so good fresh!! I miss picking with her. It’s all over our state. And gonamul. I was so lucky to get fresh vegetables for Korean dishes as a child. Thank you!

Maangchi a lot of people from Puerto Rico also wash their chicken! No worries! We haven’t died from bacteria! Let’s keep washing our meats like we always have! I wash mine with either lime or vinegar!

@@indoorsandout3022 lemon or lime the fruit. Even half a cup of vinegar in a basin of water. Let the meat sit for 30mins. Pour into the sink. Catch fresh water into the basin to rinse of the lime or vinegar. Pat dry and season to your preference. And always after handling meat, fish or poultry. Wash the counters with soapy water and bleach. Or to be environmentally friendly, diluted vinegar.

You’re right, in Morocco everyone wash their chicken meat and fish, but for chicken we use vinegar and salt. And I will keep doing it.

Hi Maangchi i have found you week ago and i have been watching alot of cooking videos recently. I got interested in korean food after my first korean friend made me a spicy chicken soup with vegetables and ppotatoes, now when i watched this video i realized its kind of same! For those who can't find gosari, I tried it with dried Lilly flower and it had a similar texture and was delicious! Didn't taste too different from what I had in Korea.

In the Philippines, we also wash our chicken with tap water (temperatur is not too hot and not too cold), but nothing also happened. But chefs said, chicken should not be washed and should be mainatined in cold temperatur before cooking to prevent Salmonella contamination.

I'm a biologist and I can tell you these chefs are right ! Washing chicken can be dangerous and don't wash away bacteria at all... The cooking kill them.

WOW so glad I found you. I had food in Korea town just this past week and had the best ramen I have ever had so I looked up and found you after finding a bunch of people who made not as good recipes. This is perfect and I am going to make this soon. I love how you clean out the spices in your bowls and don't waste anything. A woman after my own heart. I am going to start making a lot of your dishes!

The 24 hour korean corner mart I used to go to during university sold premade bags of this in the frozen section and I always used to buy it before finals for convenience. I was missing the spicy taste and also always wondered what the delicious long brown vegetable was in it- now I know! Gosari! I will have to try this now I have more time at home. So looking forward to it... yum!

I haven't tried your recipes yet but I love watching your channel. Your food looks excellent, I enjoy your personal stories and information about how the food works and your culture. You give options for people with different tastes and diets or ingredients that might be hard to find. Every time I think "I wonder why/how/what" you end up explaining what I was wondering later in the video! Also you always seem very relaxed and confident so it makes me think I'll be able to do that too! And your English is so good, I never have trouble understanding anything. I just wanted to let you know you're awesome, and say thanks for being so thoughtful of your audience.

I always wash my chicken and then disinfect my sink. Better safe than sorry 😅 Your chicken and veggie soup looks amazing with the rice, perfect for a cold day.

I always wash my chicken with salt. It gets rid of the slime from packaging, and if anyone has a issue with that….? I would question the packing plant before I question my own sink lol. Great recipes as always! I enjoy watching your videos!

Normally, when Maangchi tasted her food, she usually goes, "as usual, rice first." But, this time, she tasted the soup first. lol. I imagine the soup must be so irresistible that she skipped her usual routine.

주말 낮 공장일로 들락이던 두 사람 식사와 망치샘에게 배운 호떡을 해주고 시장가려고 메모하는 군요 따스한 햇살로 여유를 느끼는 오후 오랫만에 달콤한 소리에 귀쫑긋하네요 공부를 등한시했다가 늦게 영어와 포어에 집중하면서 샘 안부를 전 해요 ^^

I am from the UK and my family always wash our chicken, it removes the slimy texture. Like Maangchi says, "many ways". Different people have different ways of preparing food.

As always, this looks SO YUMMY! I will make it this weekend! Also, washing raw chicken is really not necessary; it only removes a bit of the bacteria on the surface of the skin but the rest of the meat is still contaminated. You're more likely to cross contaminate and get sick by washing raw meat than you would if you just put it directly in what you are going to cook it. I worked in food safety for many many years and this is what they teach us!

its not only about bacteria, since you are going to cook it. Its to remove the gooey residues and the weird water that comes with it. If you know how to keep a clean workspace cross contamination shouldnt be an issue.

It's a unnecessarily danger... As a biologist, every time I see someone risk salmonella like that for nothing I want to puke .... If your chicken is gooey, it's not fresh enough

@@Qavvikk Whats more unnecessary is your exaggeration. You won't vomit by seeing someone clean their food. The gooey water has nothing to do with freshness, as long as the chicken has been packed and chilled there is always going to have some. It's up to the person, if you are fine with eating it, no need to wash, but if you aren't, just learn some proper hygiene and clean your surroudings, and there won't be anything to put at 'risk'.
