“Their salary cap situation is bad. According to Roster Management, the Saints have $15 million in cap space despite Derek Carr, Marshon Lattimore, Cameron Jordan, Taysom Hill, Ryan Ramczyk, Demario Davis, Erik McCoy, Tyrann Mathieu and Carl Granderson all having a base salary under $1.5 million to keep their 2024 cap hits low.
Which is exactly why the team is $77.6 million over the salary cap in 2025 currently -- over $50 million more than any other team. A team could (maybe) justify this process if it was in a championship window, but that is not the Saints!”

If you want to cover sports, news or entertainment in any fashion, go for it! Do your research & make sure you put out a good product. Did Seth Walder know the NFL salary cap increases every year? With how the contracts of veterans & Saints cap space is set up, they have to continue kicking the can. The Saints would be paying these guys either way, so why would you pay them to play for another team? It’s not like the Saints are the best front office in the world, but doing minimal research can prevent bad takes like ESPN’s. Saints can/need to be smarter financially, but this is the situation they created.
