Today we will look into a very beautiful eye-catching flowering plant - the Spider lily and also look into its care tips. We will start from how to grow spider lily from bulbs and show you the interval growth of this plant. Stay tuned.
Spider Lily has many varieties with different colors of flowers. What you are seeing here is the Hymenocallis species with white delicate narrow petals in full bloom.

I got two pieces from a mature plant from my sister last summer, planted right in the ground in my back yard. Watered daily until it caught. My spider Lilly bloomed this year, very beautiful plant.

Don't put your fingers in your mouth after touching it! It's Posinous. If you touch the petals than put your fingers in your mouth you get sick and if you touch the bulbs we'll...you ded😂

I sprouted mine from from the big flower seeds. it took them 2.5 months before a root even started. They are now going on 5 years old with 3-4 inch bases, they are huge but they have never flowered the plant itself looks great though :-)

Hi there, My spider lily has round circles of yellow/brown discolouration on its leaves? Do spider lilies get viruses? If so, is there a treatment for it? The plant is getting ready to make a flower as it has lots of leaves. Thank you for all of your great growing information and handy tips! 😊

It’s an outdoor plant, needs bright light for flowering with temperatures above 20. Check your local garden store or nursery for bulbs. The bulb should not be too dry.

Aqua fina- I grow mine in Canada in a pot and bring it indoors for the winter . It does very well, but I water it less and it will not bloom till it goes outside again in summer.

I recently got a plant of spider lily from the nursery and it was a group of 3bulbs growing connected. I separated them and planted in a rectangular container(I hope the separation is not harmful to my new plant? ). Since it's summer in India, when will these bloom?

Hi im wondering if you can help i have 3 spider lilies it was three years before having any booms, iv look throgh all sites for advice on deadheading noone as mentioned in any of the videos how to or when to cut back please can you help

Hi. Firstly spider lilies are grown from bulbs. They need full sunlight of atleast 4-5 hours for blooms. Fertilizer once a month and trim it in winters.

I have a question if anyone can help me. Behind where I work there was a patch of Spider lillys growing naturally so I broke off a flower to bring to show my mom. Well I put it in a little cup of water. Now the flower has died but at the bottom there has grown a bulb , and its green and healthy looking around the bulb.. Will this grow another plant? Or what? Anyone know?

If multiple flowers or buds on the stalk, remove only the dead flower otherwise the stalk or branch.

Yes it needs sunlight but only when there re leaves. You can keep in indirect sunlight till leaves emerge.

Hello sir , my spider lily bulbs planted more than 5months back but somehow every time a new leaf comes , old leaf turns yellow and dies . That’s why my plant not growing .,..old leaves keep yellowing and drooping . Pls suggest . TIA. They are placed in my balcony . I live in bangalore .

Perhaps you are overwatering. It stores water in its bulb under soil. Do not water it too much. Reduce the frequency of watering to half of what you regularly do.

GARDEN TIPS I currently water every 7-10days and the soil is completely dry to touch . I guess will try watering every 15days from now on . And can I keep it in full direct sun ( have hardly 1-2 small leaves for per bulb).
