About Spider-Man 2 Movie:
Stan Lee's all-too-human superhero returns to the screen in this highly anticipated sequel to 2002's blockbuster hit Spider-Man. Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) is attempting to juggle college classes and his job as a photographer with the Daily Bugle while maintaining his secret life as costumed crime-fighter Spider-Man. Parker is also struggling to hold on to his relationship with Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst), who is beginning to enjoy success as a model and actress, and both Mary Jane and Peter have noticed he's beginning to buckle under the strain. Parker's friendship with Harry Osborn (James Franco) is also beginning to fray due to Peter's seeming alliance with Spider-Man, whom Harry blames for the death of his father, the nefarious Norman Osborn. As Parker weighs his responsibilities to himself and those around him against the obligations that come with his special powers, Spider-Man is faced with a new nemesis -- Dr. Otto Octavius (Alfred Molina), a deranged scientist whose latest project has turned him into the near-invincible cyborg Doctor Octopus. Spider-Man 2 was directed by Sam Raimi, who helmed the first film, and much of the original cast has also reunited for this sequel, including Rosemary Harris, J.K. Simmons, and Bruce Campbell.

I love this scene for 3 main reasons 1. He was genuinely scared and was panicking but he was still willing to risk his own life and be nearly torn apart to save people 2. it shows the perspective of other people 3. It shows that no matter how strong spider man is he is still Peter Parker. He is a human and he has limits.
@franciscopetrucci
@franciscopetrucci Год назад
Its awesome that we can see his train (no pun intended) of thought throughout the scene. He really has no solution at the ready, and is genuinely trying to find a way to save those people. My favorite detail is at 0:44 after he throws the first webs, you can see in his face that he hadn't really thought about HOW MUCH PRESSURE it would put on him to slow down a massive train going so fast. It gets him by surprise.
@jonQuarantino
@jonQuarantino Год назад
I agree ! He was relentless in seeing through to the outcome of stopping that train without a clear solution! So much so that I doubt Spider-Man even thought about the fact that it would take all of his supernatural and human strength to stop that train! It showed that through all that strength and power, grit and heart his courage under pressures and adversity is and will always be his biggest superpower!

@Jimb0 Things were a lot more experimental in the 2000's. Y2K, after all. I think home video in the DVD was still being experimented with, online streaming services were still new, it was the golden age of the Internet, and there was still so much passion in the gaming industry that that's why we were what you'd nowadays call "toxic"; that's when console wars and trash-talking were at their peak. Now social media has largely ruined everything.
@mazarinivmikeoxlong-dedica969
@mazarinivmikeoxlong-dedica969 3 года назад
@Jimb0 I'd say all of the 2000's and maybe 2010-2012, at least according to classic COD and Battlefield standards; BF3 was in 2011 and BO2, considered the last great COD in a general sense was in 2012, also Spec Ops: The Line, but if you were around in the mid-2000's then you'll probably be more knowledgeable than me. There's still some great exceptions nowadays, I think most notably Red Dead 2 and TLOU 2, though I think it was solely Rockstar's decision to make Red Dead 2 whereas everybody was basically expecting TLOU 2. Still great games, though, specifically where story is concerned.
@mazarinivmikeoxlong-dedica969
@mazarinivmikeoxlong-dedica969 3 года назад

I always loved how Tobey never hesitates to utilise his face in acting. He’s a very handsome guy but isn’t scared to be “ugly” for the sake of getting the best scenes. The thing that strikes me most about this scene is how the passengers react. After he stops the train, they don't let him fall because they trust he'll be alright. They just witnessed him using *every ounce of his strength* to save them. They IMMEDIATELY reciprocate his heroic act by catching him and helping him inside. And since Peter isn't wearing his mask, they're surprised to learn that - despite his superpowers - he's still just a young, kindhearted human who would put his life on the line for others.

“He’s... just a kid. No older than my son.” A line that hits hard every time because when looking back on it a lot of people must have thought that Spider-man was probably a cop or a martial artist or a private investigator or just a middle aged man with some experience, but to find out this whole time that the person who puts his life in jeopardy every day for strangers and is constantly being slandered as a menace is just a young man no older than twenty who just wants to help people... it just changes things.

The actors who played the passengers did such a great job too. They made the scene so tear jerking and real. Their facial expressions of shock, happiness and confusion and excitement to seeing Spider-Man’s face and learning that he’s just a kid in a costume with astounding superpowers. Saving Spider-Man from falling to his death when he passed out from exhaustion after saving them. The fear in their eyes and screaming from thinking they’re gonna die. And most of all how they promised Spiderman they wouldn’t tell the world who he is after seeing his face. Helping him stand up cause of how exhausted and in pain he was after saving them. And not just hiding his identity cause he saved their lives and they owed him. But they knew that if they exposed his identity he wouldn’t be able to to protect people and bring hope and justice to the world like the brave and strong thing he did that day just to save random people he doesn’t know from a train crash out of pure kindness, bravery and compassion.

I grew up in a small village where no more than ten thousand people live. For us, the cinema was something unattainable. Even cities with a population of over a million could not be compared with cinemas from developed countries. Such as we watched the trilogy on DVD, but even that was hard to get. There was no Internet then. The trilogy was broadcast on TV once a year, and these moments are the happiest. As a child, it was strange in the sense that watching Spider-Man was something extraterrestrial. I miss those days. Sorry, I don't speak English

Can't praise this scene enough. This must be one of the very few scenes in all superhero movies where we actually see the hero interact with the people he is supposed to protect. It is so grounded and real that makes it by far the most inspiring moment in the genre. The context is also key here. Peter thinks that New York hates him, but he now realizes that people are grateful for his help and that they actually appreciate him. This is the Spiderman from the comics, the underdog that always makes the right thing and pulls through no matter what. He has heart, grit and has fully adopted uncle Ben's message.

'We won't tell nobody' this line has a lot of gravity. This shows even the kids know the type of danger and problems Spiderman faces everyday. He just compromised his cover in order to save those people. And he is just a kid. People understood the type of pressure and the exertion it takes to be Spiderman. A kid taking care of the city is really too much for anyone and some people are still criticizing him for making the Condition worse. This scene is one of the many examples of why Spider-Man (Peter Parker) has and always will be my favorite superhero of all time. Instead of going after Doc Ock, he made sure that every single person on that train would get out alive and nearly dies after putting so much strain on his body trying to stop the train. He’s brave, selfless and determined, and will always find a a way to save everyone. All while throwing in some good quips and jokes here and there. Spider-Man to me is an example of what all heroes should be like. Strong, Brave, Selfless, Determined and inspirational. What gets me the most is that the people are so moved by the fact that a kid has come to save them and nearly got himself killed while doing so. They don’t stop and say “oh my god, I finally know who Spider-Man is, I’m telling everyone!!” They so grateful for his heroism and pull him to safety after nearly falling and promise to never tell a soul who he really is. They even stand up to protect him from Doc Ock after he protected them from him.

And we could appreciate how the older Peter now sees an Uncle Ben role model in Stark before losing him too. Ik it'd have been long to have Uncle Ben die again but it'd have worked. No wonder why Tobey Maguire is the best Spider-Man. Sam Raimi's Spider-Man is the epitome of "With great power comes great responsibility." This version of Peter Parker is the real hero. No high-tech suits, no armored mentor, and best of all he has no childish tendencies. He really portrayed who exactly is Peter Parker in the comics. He becomes a full fledged hero on his own.

But peter Parker is a kid though I get what you mean though. What Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is in the MCU is essentially what Miles Morales that was miles story arc. Miles was the one who kept trying to be peter and essentially fledged to become his own hero. How do you introduce miles when essentially he’s already in the MCU

In my opinion it's. 1.) Tobey. (Has the look, and feel of an awkward Peter which is the Peter Parker most people associate with, the problem thou is that he lacks the comedic timing of spidey but still is the best for me.) 2.) Tom. (Has youth, the quirkiness, the quips of Peter that spidey is known for. Not a standard Peter Parker but a hell of a good spidey.) 3.) Andrew. (Let's just say he's my least favorite out of the three, sure he got the attitude of a Peter Parker, and a spidey per say but it's just that nobody would believe him to be a teenager and it's not very believable as Peter tbh, hell of a spidey though.)

One of the greatest aspects of Raimi's Spidey is his sheer selflessness. Throughout the movie Peter was basically a human punching bag. The guy gets battered physically and emotionally. He literally can't catch a break at all, and it's all more or less attributed to him being Spiderman: - He loses his delivery job due to rescuing a couple kids. - His relationships with Harry and MJ are distant and tenuous because of his secret. - His grades are abysmal. - He lives in a substandard apartment with a landlord constantly hounding him about rent. - His other job at the Bugle isn't really any better either. - Because of Jameson, the city despises Spiderman. - Due to his duties he misses MJ's play and worsens their already strained friendship resulting in her getting engaged to spite him. - Harry, hurt and frustrated with Peter slaps and humiliates him in front of a crowd. - Aunt May loses possession of her home. All the while Peter feels constantly trapped and torn between desiring his own life vs fulfilling Uncle Ben's adage of using his powers responsibly and helping people. It's way too much stress for ANY person, let alone a 19-20 year old single guy living in New York. On top of all that, because of his secret he's more or less forced to work through everything on his own which is pretty damn impressive. Being Spiderman is never a luxury but a burden which evidently extracts a massive toll on him. However, despite all the hardships and baggage, Peter hardly ever complained, trudging forward and sucking it up while remaining humble and true to himself because he understands what truly is important. When you really look at it, Peter's life is actually pretty dismal and is not for the faint of heart. Yet, at the end of the day he acknowledges everything and realizes that the moment he got his powers his life no longer belonged to him. It's his curse but everyone else's gift. And it was finally at the end of Spiderman 2 that he ultimately accepted this when he refused to get Mary Jane involved in his life because he knew that the path he chose in life had no place for her, thus letting her go. Spiderman 2 isn't simply an excellent superhero film but a great movie in general, demonstrating life lessons and teaching the audience that life's never fair and can be very horrible, however, there are good things in life which makes it worthwhile, allowing you to pick yourself up, shake it off and continue forward. This is what Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire's Spidey encompassed perfectly and why this iteration, in my opinion, is superior to Andrew Garfield and Tom holland's variation of the character.

Agree. With every single word. I think the courage and strength of conscience to take all that mental and emotional stress, familial, romantic and financial trouble, and still shoulder it selflessly for the health and safety of the others is what defines the beauty of this film.
@seunghoonyu6863
@seunghoonyu6863 5 лет назад
I wouldn't consider this a lesson but more of a chance to appreciate and marvel at the beauty of the conviction and the selflessness behind all the pain depicted in the character and his inner turmoil. Nobody has to be spiderman, but we can have the grace to be thankful should one appear.

If the train had a mass of 10^4kg, and was going 60km/h, treating the web as a spring and assuming the web stretched for about 500 meters before coming to a stop, the force spiderman would have to overcome to keep the web stretched for that distance would be 2,778,889 Newtons. That's A LOT of force.
