Hey. So, a few important things: - Before y'all even say it, I have no idea how I screwed up Mr. Negative's name at 40:14 like that. I've stayed up to 3-4am the last two weeks scripting, recording and editing this video, so I was probably just too tired to catch the mistake. My bad. - I got a new microphone and an audio interface receiver to go with it, but I'm still in the midst of learning the ins and outs and working out the kinks, so the vocal audio quality might be slightly iffier than usual. Apologies for that, and it should be a lot better moving forward as I tweak settings. - The Fantastic Four building mentioned in MvC1 and MvC3 is the Four Freedoms Plaza building, not the Baxter Building, which it was designed to replace. Thanks to AnimeJason2011 and dannytarver4533 for correcting me on this. - This is likely going to be the last upload of the year! This video took like, a month or so to make and I need a break, lol. Thanks for all of the support and kind words this year and Happy holidays to all who partake!
Thank you for the video and happy holidays to you as well. Would you consider doing a Captain America video when you return from your much-needed break? And take your time making the next one, unsubscribing now that I've done it is such a process that my subscription isn't going anywhere, and I think I speak for more than just myself in saying that if the video comes out a day or week or even a month later just because you slept regularly I'll still be here to watch it when it comes out and the video will be all the better because you didn't lose sleep making it.
@@tehchikon Oh, I'm not taking an extended break or anything, just going to focus on spending the next week with family and friends. I'll have a video up the first week of the new year for sure! I'll try to put Cap on my shortlist, though the scale of his video is likely going to be just about as big as this one, given he's been in just as many games and has as much to talk about as Spidey, so it might take a bit. I'll do what I can, though! Thanks for watching and Happy Holidays!
I'm sorry bro, but the Baxter Building was the FF's original high rise that other tenants lived in. The building in the game is Four Freedoms Plaza. They owned the whole building, they needed their own base so no innocents would be in danger. Plus all of Reed's inventions.
@@altreon3608 May in other universes: I lived a good and long life, I'm willingly to sacrifice myself for my nephew's future and happiness. she would definitely be angry knowing the details of that deal and what it costed.
Even Marvel Super Heroes is decent enough to give Peter a happy ending with Mary Jane. Which is something you can't usually say for his comics. I also, really like how Josh delivers his quips. I kinda like it better than Yuri's delivery.
I never Knew in Marvel 3 HE ACTUALLY HAD MOUTH MOVEMENTS LOL. That is wild when you said he was just a Model with just a texture over it. Its cool to see they even added that detail (which is kinda hard to see.) But it being there is cool. It surprises me as well you didn't Mention Ben's Clone costume having extra details the other colors actually are missing. It got new pieces over it Like a modeled Jacket and Wristbands and a belt. Honestly its cool Capcom did go that far for him.
In hindsight, yeah, I should've highlighted that. It's line with the other alternate outfits for other characters having extra care put into them, but it's extra noticeable with Spidey since even his colors went above and beyond most other characters.
@@TheSeventhForce Thanks for the reply I really loved this videos you make IT really is well put together even if some neat details might be missing or not caught. IDK if you knew this But Spider Man does Have a Hidden Costume or color however you look at it in MVCI. In the Story mode he gets the Black suit again But we as the players can not select it for some reason. or unlock it in anyway.
My first introduction to the character was the 1970’s show. I didn’t know he was a comic character until I saw a comic in the waiting room for a dentist appointment. Not only is he my favorite comic character, he’s my favorite in all of fiction.
@@WhiteDarkness3113 I think Capcom was trying to avoid too many Street Fighter characters in UMVC3. Which probably explains why Juri was not in Ultimate
38:02 Morrigan I can definitely see wanting to flaunt her hotness for a photo. As for the rest of the Capcom characters getting billboards, I like to headcanon that Spider-Man, Ken & Viewtiful Joe convinced Ryu and the rest of the Capcom cast to take photos for good publicity to celebrate their return to the Marvel vs. Capcom series lol
Apparently Capcom noted that Ryu's fear of spiders came from him sleeping in a tree and upon waking up there was a spider resting in his mouth. Not gonna lie, I always thought Ryu might have problems facing Juri. Plus I'd love to see the interaction between Spidey and Juri too.
My main team in MvC2 are Ryu, Spiderman, & Megaman. My three reasons are: 1. It's Ryu, he's a badass 2. I grew up watching the 90s Spiderman cartoon 3. I grew up watching the 90s Megaman cartoon. It may be cheesy, but I still ❤ it
Hey, it's one of the few heroes I knew anything about before actually playing MvC! He's also one of the few Marvel characters I tried to play as a kid, since I tend to lean towards fast strikers with aerial movement (and Megaman xD) Spidey's quips are quite a treat in all of the games, especially in MvC3 and MvCI, I think they captured his snark brilliantly. Looking at all the effort for his costumes, dialogue, the new Lv 3 Super, it's clear MvCI had a lot of love poured into it on the development side, makes its reputation even sadder jn retrospect. Also, Merry Christmas! And I hope you have an awesome new year, too, dude!
@@carlbloke8797 Oh for sure, it's just you can tell the issues largely came from executive meddling and budgetary constraints, not from lack of love from the creative team
It’s so real for you to recommend Lee and Ditko’s run on Spidey. It was the first ever full comic book run I ever read, and it turned me into a proper comic book fan. Everything you said already covered what I felt about the run, although one thing I will add on is that that run is not only a great gateway to get into comics but also will make you appreciate almost all Spiderman portrayals. If you’re a fan of spiderman or if spiderman is your fav superhero but never really read any of the comics only watched the shows movies and games, then this will make you love all of those shows movies and games even more. Trust me you’ll be shocked at how your fav adaptation might change after this run regardless of who your current fav is (MvC Pete is one of my top 5 best portrayals straight up).
I just found your channel after this video was recommended to me. Spidey is my favorite hero so I'm glad you did this. I love Josh Keaton in MVC3 because his voice is just so perfect. I love Spectacular Spider-Man
Keaton really is great. It says a lot about how perfect his performance is that he uses more or less the same tone of voice he used for a high school aged Peter in Spectacular for MvC3 and it still works.
@@TheSeventhForce yeah I still sound pretty much the same as I did a decade ago when I was in college and high school. His voice is just so perfect for the character. Funny he played Harry before becoming Spider-Man. He is my favorite Spider-Man voice.
Spider-Man also showed up as a secret character in the X-Men Mutant Academy series, was in Marvel Nemesis and in Avengers Battle for Earth. In fact the only ever Marvel-wide fighting game he missed out on was Avengers in Galactic Storm PROBABLY. And that game had ...interesting ideas about it's roster.
Man, I really want to do a video about non Capcom Marvel fighters one of these days. Mutant Academy especially, I'm pretty sure the devs behind that one specifically cited Marvel Vs. Capcom as their primary inspiration for those games and it shows, especially in Mutant Academy 2.
@@TheSeventhForce Would highly recommend, Galactic Storm is a surprisingly solid absolute gem that I wish Data East had gotten the chance to do a follow-up for.
A nearly hour long video of my fav superhero in my favorite gaming series. Right as I'm about to go run errands at that. Christmas came early. Happy Holidays, Seventh.
FINALLY, I've been watching your channel since the video of cut characters of the Vs series, and everytime I watched the videos about characters retrospective, my mind always thought about when you releasing the Spidey video It's been awesome to see your chanel grow and learning so much about theses character from a series I've begin to love cause Spidey, hope to see more vids in the next year, keep up the good work
I've been wanting do this one for a while but knew it'd take a while, so I kinda tinkered at it on and off the past month or so before realizing it'd make for a good Christmas present. And thanks for watching, I definitely plan on taking the momentum into the new year!
Truly amazing video man. Keep up the amazing marvel vs Capcom work.❤❤❤ PS Love Spider-Man's Marvel VS Capcom theme song its been his stable theme for 4 games for a reason. It's so symbolic of the character. Also I agree. Spidermans Marvel superheroes theme is the best version
Really loved this video! Spider man was my main for the marvel side of the characters in the versus series and man, i used him a lot over the years. Great work as always, dude!
Ah yes I love Spider-Man most amazing work marvel comic book Fox Kids late 90s cartoon and Marvel Vs. Capcom series my childhood marry christmas happy new year my friends also greatness of stan lee legendary rest in peace you celebrate peace.
This is really a great series, but I would really like to see some of the pros trying to play the character and see what crazy tactics/strategies they come up with!
I'd absolutely love to incorporate something like that! ...But I don't really have the reach or visibility to get a pro player's attention, much less their involvement.
@TheSeventhForce No, I think you're limiting yourself, dude! There are already RU-vid videos up of gameplay, and you can analyze and see how some players play them differently from others!
If Capcom recreate a Christmas carol with street fighter characters then ryu as Scrooge, Nash as bob cratchet, guile as tiny Tim, chun-li ken and m.bison as the ghost of Christmas past present and future
I always loved Spider-Man in this game and seeing him being married to his wife mary jane and they have their daughter mayday parker spider-girl in this game universe makes me so happy. :)
Yeah, Raimi definitely has a certain kind of humorous style to his films, even the horror ones but I couldn't imagine his movies without it. That and Spider-Man 2 is just a legitimately fantastic superhero film all around. Probably my favorite movie of his that isn't Evil Dead or Drag Me to Hell tbh
Definitely in the cards! I had actually started on him a while back, but the Dead Rising save I was using to get my footage corrupted, and I had to spend the last month or two replaying it to get back where I was before I could continue working on his video. He'll pop up early on next year!
Even when he’s not top tier, he’s a highly versatile character… which you’d expect a character as recognizable as Spider-Man to be. I’m also glad that Capcom recognized that they nailed Spidey’s theme since day one and didn’t significantly change it until Infinite (and even then, Spidey’s classic theme is still in the game, just not as a combat theme). If they ever make an ACTUAL MvC 4 (as in a numbered entry rather than a titled one like Infinite) I hope they bring back the classic character themes as combat themes.
Good video. And not trying to be picky but I see you are trying to be as detailed as possible, so the victory line in UMVC3 to Deadpool is a reference to "Dennis the Menace". Keep up the good work.
90's Bagley art is peak Spider-Man imo. I've never actually played MvC but one thing I've been thinking that'd be super sick is if in a new game they'd let Spidey do more wall stuff (for obvious reasons with "the wallcrawler" literally being one of his most prominent nicknames) Imagine something like Chipp's Guilty Gear Strive wallrun combos, but expanded so that you could get a lot more creative with it. I think that'd be absolutely badass
@@TheSeventhForce Yeah, stuff like Web of Shadows had wallcombat, but that game also weirdly refused to let you animation cancel into wallcling, which drastically reduced its potential application. So a game that allowed Spidey to wheave into wall stuff seemlessly and then beat the shit out of your opponent while running skyward could be beyond hype. Players manually doing their own version of Maximum Spider, ya know?
Oh super funny story did you know that Peter Parker and J.J. Jameson were once cousins yeah J.J.J. dad married aunt may. JJJ’s dad passed away while on a trip with aunt may
Oh hilarious story mephisto once was thanos’s wingman, (context: thanos, the mad titan, was trying to win the affection for a girl he likes and mephisto was giving him relationship advice) said girl was miss tress death it was in the infinity gauntlet storyline (which inspired infinity war)
As much of a disappointment Infinite is, one of few props I’ll give the game is how Spidey came out relatively unscathed when it came to how he was represented. He got a glow-up moveset wise with new command normals, his new Spider-Cannon and an actual cool cinematic Level 3. He wasn’t too bad in the story either.
I think his endings in MSH and MSH VS SF are the happiest I’ve seen Peter, at least compared to other depictions I’m familiar with. That’s actually quite depressing when you think about it.
am i the only one who thinks Spider-man's idle pose just doesn't work in 3D? in 2D it looks spectacular but in 3D he looks like he's deformed, i don't know how else to explain. I think they should've changed it in mvc3/mvci
Do be fair… when the topic is Spider-Man, one of the greatest super heroes in existence, it’s not too surprising that we find some way to extend the conversation about him. 😂😂
I'm honestly glad they kinda skipped the early-mid 2010's with MvC because I don't think I would've had it in me to play as a Spidey voiced by Drake Bell
If you want a good movie about New York I highly recommend you watch After Hours (1985) which is a thriller about the New York art scene and to me it’s probably one of Martin Scorsese most underrated films in my opinion.
38:07 Morrigan I can definitely see wanting a photo shoot since she is definitely aware of how hot she is lol As for Ryu, I like to think Ken talked Ryu into a photo, for more publicity for the Capcom side lol
This was how I got into the MvC franchise. I saw Spider-Man and other Marvel superheroes on the arcade cabinet, but I had no idea who the Capcom characters were. And I've been a Spidey player since day 1
Even though I can't combo for shit with Spidey (why did they make his standing MP a launcher?) he's still my favorite character from MvC besides Ryu. Awesome breakdown of the character in these games.
NOOOO MARVEL TOOK THIS SPIDEY’S MARRIAGE TOO! XD Though interestingly Spider-Man’s Story throughout the Vs. Series seems to prove that Infinite is a Reboot
Speaking of Sam Raimi’s Spider Man despite what Scorsese said about Superhero movies he actually said that liked Sam Raimi’s Spider Man and also said that he likes Sam Raimi’s films and was happy that Spider Man was huge success for Raimi.
fun fact: MVC infinite spidey is actually Ben Riley, the real spider man died during one of the spiderverse comics. now if that ain’t a metaphor for infinite as a whole
I like how UMVC3 Ultimate Webthrow is so crazy partially due to being one of the most consistent resets in the game since so few characters can escape and even then sometimes they get hit due to timing
It's a poorly conceived story to address something that wasn't even really a problem, handled in just about the worst way possible. I've made my peace with it and got over it a long time ago, but it says a lot that over 15 years later, some people still haven't and I 100% get that.
I kinda thought about that too, but wasn't sure if I was reaching or not. Glad to know I'm not the only one that's thought of that! I actually wanted to reference that show somewhere in the video, but Toei is notoriously a pain in the ass about footage from stuff they're involved with, so I opted not to.
@@TheSeventhForce Probably, the development team was most familiar with the Japanese Spider-Man and it was the most recognized version of the character among the Japanese public.
YOO AWESOME! I’m happy you’re finally going to cover the GOAT superhero! Thanks, SeventhForce! My GOAT favorite hero of all time, the friendly neighborhood, Amazing, Spectacular Spider-Man!🕷️🕸️🌟🌟 I honestly wish I had access to Marvel vs. games nowadays cuz he would totally be my main always
