Spider-Man: Edge of Time Game Review - wayneisboss 

Didn't know that, but it definitely adds up! While I didn't particularly care for the portrayl of Peter in this game, I thought the portrayl of Miguel was on point, so that makes sense. Here's hoping we get to see plenty more of O'Hara in the future

Time travel plots are a tough one. You know, I actually think this whole thing would have worked out better if it was an animated film like the ones DC makes all the time. I think the pacing would have been better in a project like that and maybe the writing could have been tighter

An animated film version of EOT could have been really cool. About an hour and a half of two Spider-Men beating up some baddies, maybe a few twists and turns, and no boring Black Cat chase sequences? Sign me up.

I'd still argue that doesn't make much sense because that explanation doesn't act like the other century of time doesn't exist, meaning that the effect events from Peter's time should still only effect the nature of Miguel's time through natural progression. That's the logic used for say, hallways suddenly turning into dead ends that need to be maneuvered around. Same with the robotics lab, but the gas filled room is Playing by rules all their own, implying that the events just skip that entire gap of time in which case, both Spiderman should be occupying the same space at the same time, seeing as the gateways would be closing the gap between the time periods. Still, yes, I know, at the end of the day it's still a story about two men that can crawl in walls and swing from webs but the point still stands that they set up rules for themselves that they don't always stick to, and using that explanation as an excuse for the writing is flimsy at best considering that room with the gas is the only instance of the game that is dictated by that specific form of logic. Every other instance of quantum causality in the game tells us that the future is effected by events in the past because the rest of the time in between still took place, it's just lazy to say "OH, yeah it just doesn't work that way with the gas in the room because we said so and otherwise we wouldn't have an obstacle to get past in this part of the game". I appreciate the the contribution though and hope that if this is a game you enjoy, at the very least, I've reminded you of it and given you an excuse to go play and enjoy it again

@@Wayneisboss Even I agree that this whole: Quantum Causality thing doesn't make any sense. Edge of Time is confusing and the Plot doesn't exactly make it superior to other Games. I did enjoy Edge of Time, though I wouldn't say it's a Good Game, but I wouldn't say it's a Bad Game. Still, I really enjoyed your Review and listened to other people reviewing the Game

Thanks so much! And yeah, I would have loved to have seen what the team could have put together if they had been allowed to keep making games based on their own concepts. I could tell the movie-based games weren't quite in their comfort zone

Oh yeah, that's exactly why he turned evil and I get that what bugs me is that they don't even tell us what exactly happened to everyone. Like, we know they died but...how did it happen? I just have a hard time getting invested in a villain backstory if it's so beg and it's all told and not shown. Glad you enjoy the game though! I've got a soft spot for it too, even if I've got issues with the narrative

He only "cured" him of the radioactivity in his blood, meaning it stripped him from his spider powers. Powers like self healing or higher endurance which were the only things keeping him alive from the beating he took

I find the plot of a game just as important to discuss in depth as any of the gameplay elements. Just saying I think a story is good or bad without going into detail is very uninteresting to me Also this video was made 2 years ago, both games were released nearly a decade ago and I very clearly gave a spoiler warning at the beginning of this video

Oh no trust me, I understood I just think it's dumb. That lesson he learned is essentially the crux of his entire character so him just...forgetting it is a lot to swallow but beyond that, they try to say the instigating factor that led him to that mentality was him losing everyone he loved in some big event. What event? Good question. The game doesn't seem to think we need to know what caused the downfall of one of the greatest comic book heroes and turned him into a villain. They just kinda say "yeah his motivation happened somewhere offscreen and we're not gonna elaborate on any of that" It's lazy writing and Evil Peter is such a rushed and nonsensical concept. I don't like the twist because they didn't put in the time or effort to make me care or like it.

@@Wayneisboss Look Evil Peter is not a great character but his actions are sort of justifiable in what he's trying to do instead of him just being plain evil. Which I enjoy. Anyway I really like the game. But definitely not one of the best Spider-Man games.

The combat can be fun, but it's literally all the game has and doesn't do enough to evolve the mechanics for the whole experience. Shattered Dimensions also has a leg up with more varied locations, set pieces, and an additional two other Spider-Man with their own combat mechanics that helped keep that game flowing more naturally.
