It would have been nice to tell him *before* the ferry leaves. It doesn't help to say, "Hey, don't get on the 11 o'clock Staten Island ferry," when it's already ten after eleven. A lot of the problems could have been avoided if Tony or Happy (or at least someone like Pepper, or even some secretary, or the most junior employee at StarkTech) had just returned a phone call or two. A lack of communication also sends a clear message.

@@notyourbabe._. You shouldn't have to be the center of the universe to receive a return phone call. That's just called being polite. Or even just a simple text message: "We got your call about the alien weapons. We're taking care of it. The FBI has been alerted. Please stay away. It's too dangerous for you. Thank you for letting us know." How much time would that have taken?
@Serryy
@Serryy 16 дней назад
@@PhilBagels 4 months late but Tony specifically told Peter to stay out of it and that it was handled. Him telling Peter on the call was meant to be him reassuring Peter that everything has been dealt with, not a heads up. Tony didnt think he would need to tell Peter since Peter was already told to stay out of it. Maybe Tony should have predicted that a superpowered teenager eager to prove himself wouldnt listen, but hes what? 50 at that time? and didnt have to deal with kids his entire adulthood. Thats Tony not knowing how to handle his mentor role. Its mainly on Pete tho. He listens to the experienced superhero and gets over his need to prove himself and nobody gets endangered. Its a lesson for Pete.

That may well be my favourite MCU post-credits scene because yep, in the cinema we'd all sat there for about 10 minutes waiting for it and then Cap delivers his "important" message about patience (around 80% of those that waited burst out laughing, the rest either didn't get it or I guess just didn't think the joke justified the wait. Humour's subjective, obvs :).

Tony Stark was a hypocrite. When he first started out, he flew in the face of convention (hell, Iron Man had his secret identity for all of, what?, a couple of months?), was promoting himself, and basically went off the rails. Without consulting any of the Avengers save Bruce Banner (whom he actually conned into helping him), Stark went on to create Ultron which ultimately led to the Sokovia Accords. In my opinion, all of the other Avengers demonstrated a keen responsibility for the power they had: Stark did not - to a multi-billionaire, it was just another cool toy to play with. The Avengers didn't need the Sokovia Accords but Tony Stark certainly did, and he tried to force his new-found piety up everybody else's ass, and Steve Rogers was having none of it (he was, arguably, the most responsible superhero of the Avengers) thus leading to the "superhero civil war". Stark was feeling guilty but, like any other spoiled rich kid, he didn't want to be the only one to get a spanking. In any event, Stark should be the LAST person to be telling Peter Parker that he needs to grow up first. On the other hand, perhaps he's trying to impart to Parker "Don't make the mistakes I did, kid."

@@mrgonzale0978 So, only the beginning happens during the same time as Avengers (or just after), the rest takes place after Civil War, it's about 8 years after the Battle of New York. I think @edit_bee's answer is that because Bruce was hiding in India last time he'd gone missing, Tony figures it's a good place to look for him now that it's happened again post-Ultron. It's a cool theory, I always assumed it was Stark business rather than Avengers business, he seems to be at some kind of celebration so I thought maybe a major merger or the opening of a Stark subsidiary there, but that could equally be good cover to look for Bruce...

0:22 Another thing is Toby's Spider-Man was bitten at 17 just a few months before his graduation from High School. In the comics and like 99% of renditions of the character Peter was bitten at 15 just like the MCU as well. I'm not sure why they changed it to 17 for the Toy and Andrew films but my guess is they wanted Spider-Man out of High School as fast as possible so they can move into his college era which is by far the most beloved period of Spider-Man's life thanks to most of his iconic characters being introduced during this time along with most people growing up reading college age Spider-Man stories and Animated shows such as the 90s Animated Series. Ultimate Spider-Man a modernized and re-imagined continuity (2000 to 2011) solely took place across High School bringing together his college friends like MJ, Gwen, and Harry and setting them in High School. Same goes with the Spectacular Spider-Man (2008) show solely set in High School. So if you grew up during the 2000s you'd most likely experience more High School set Spider-Man media. Spider-Man in the mainline comics by this time already left College.

33:35 The problem is that they weren't being paid by anyone, or if they were it wasn't very much. They were a salvage operation expecting to make the BIG money off of the sale of the alien tech they recovered. And the business owner had borrowed a bunch of money to buy equipment to do the job expecting to be able to pay it back when the profits started to come in -- but the Guys In Suits came and said "No alien technology for you!" so now there's no way to pay off the loan.

IMO, Tobey Maguire was a good Peter Parker, since he looked the “nerdy”part, well better than Andrew Garfield, at least. Andrew Garfield was a good Spider-Man, because he had the joking, playful humor that the character eventually became known for, but definitely didn’t embody the Peter Parker side, since he was too confident and confrontational. Tom Holland, though, was good at being both sides, because he definitely looked more like a “nerdy” teenager than the other two, and had the banter down as The Wall Crawler, too.

The organization that cleaned up the foreign materials after the Battle of New York it's called damage control a joint operation between Stark industries and the government. Zendaya's character is Michelle Jones Watson AKA MJ. Now she's not the traditional Mary Jane Watson from the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man trilogy. In fact zendaya's MJ is a mixture of Mary Jane and another character Spider-Man dated named Angelica Jones who also went by the alias Firestar and she was a mutant.

Hey, Evie! The opening scene of Adrian Toomes' crew clearing rubble and Chitauri tech in the shadow of Avengers Tower is from the aftermath of the Battle of New York from "Avengers" set in 2012. The title card dating it as "8 Years Ago" is a continuity error since this was a Sony co-production. "Avengers" took place in 2012 and "Civil War" took place in 2016 MCU-time meaning they're just 4 years apart. "Spider-Man: Homecoming" is set TWO MONTHS after "Civil War" in 2016. This was the first Spider-Man film to have an age-appropriate Peter and, despite all the other comic inaccuracies, it is a fundamental defining characteristic that made this version of Spidey resonate most with fans. Mr. Harrington, played by Martin Starr, was the computer geek who let Edward Norton's Bruce Banner use the Culver University computer lab after being bribed with a slice of pizza in "The Incredible Hulk"! Since that film occurs in 2010, it means he was working on his education degree six years ago. Kenneth Choi, who plays Principal Morita, also played Howling Commando Jim Morita in "The First Avenger". He has a picture of himself in a WWII uniform in his office even though he is now playing Morita's grandson as the principal. Flash Thompson is Peter's traditional jock bully in the comics and non-MCU movies. In "Homecoming", the character was reconceptualized to be a rich intellectual rival to Peter played by Tony Revolori since they were attending a specialized high school centered on academic achievement. The reinterpretation is very clever and works well for the series. The movie glosses over the trauma of Uncle Ben's death since audiences had already been inured to it twice before with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Peter's concern over Aunt May worrying about him and his conversation with Tony in "Civil War" are the only vague allusions to Uncle Ben's passing. Donald Glover is playing Aaron Davis who is the Prowler in the 1610 Ultimate Universe and uncle to Miles Morales who is the 1610 Spider-Man. In the Tom Holland MCU, he's just Uncle Aaron but he does mention his nephew which confirms that a non-spider-powered Miles exists! The voice of KAREN, the Spidey suit A.I., is that of Jennifer Connelly who is the real-life wife of Paul Bettany who plays Vision and Tony's former A.I. JARVIS! Zendaya is revealed as a non-redhead bi-racial variant of Mary Jane "M.J." Watson called Michelle Jones Watson! Bokeem Woodbine played Herman Schultz aka Shocker, Michael Chernus played Phineas Mason aka Tinkerer and Michael Mando played Mac Gargan aka Scorpion who are all members of Spidey's rogues' gallery. The revelation of Michael Keaton as Liz's father generated an audible gasp from audiences and the car ride to the dance remains one of the most tension-filled scenes in the MCU! The scene where Peter summons his inner strength to lift himself from the rubble thus proving he is worthy of the mantle of Spider-Man is a direct tribute to the cover of "Amazing Spider-Man" # 33 illustrated by Steve Ditko. DAMAGE CONTROL is introduced as a Federal organization privately bankrolled by Tony Stark. Stan Lee appears as the neighbor who pokes his head out the window to comment on the commotion caused by Peter mistakenly webbing the car owner to his own vehicle. The next chronological stop in the MCU is the "Agents of SHIELD: Slingshot" web series minus the opening and closing framing scenes.

As there's a bit of discussion about Tony's decision making in the comments, I wanna chip in my two cents, which is that it's actually a great piece of storytelling that gives Tony, as well as Peter, great growth arcs throughout the story. To me, the way Tony behaves early on is him only latterly realising what he's signed up for with Peter, and just generally not having a great handle on being a father-figure or mentor. And in the midst of learning, as many people do, he falls back on what he knows, which is how his father was with him: strict and kind of distant, but trying to show he cares in practical ways, such as by giving him the suit, but also installing the inhibitor and tracker to make sure he doesn't run before he can walk (something young Tony almost certainly would've tried to do as well). So, when he sees what's going on with Vulture, he gives practical help by calling the Feds, but doesn't get that Peter's got a lot of feelings he needs support dealing with, so he communicates with him more like a colleague than a confused kid. I think it's only when he's telling Peter off after the boat that he realises that's what he's doing, when he comments how much he sounds like his own father, so that at the end of the movie, he's making a concerted effort to be more acknowledging and supportive of Peter. Just my interpretation, on why that stuff happens and why it's necessary.

Interesting point to recall about the MCU's The Vulture is that Keaton has a very highly developed personal sense of right and wrong. Pete save his daughter's life, so he owed Pete that. Toomes was fiercely protective of his family, and would stop at nothing to protect them. On the other hand Pete saved his life during the final battle, which means he owes Pete, hence the statement of ignorance.

As someone who was a big Spidey fan long before ANY of the movies, I really hate that this version of Spidey is so Tony Stark dependent. Even his villain in this film is, by his origin story, more of an Iron Man villain that Spider-Man just happens to be fighting. They really have done Marvel's premier character poorly in the MCU, in my opinion.
