|| MYSTERY SONG OF THE DAY ||
Spirit of my silence I can hear you, but I'm afraid to be near you
And I don't know where to begin
And I don't know where to begin
Somewhere in the desert there's a forest, and an acre before us
But I don't know where to begin
But I don't know where to begin
Again I lost my strength completely, oh be near me tired old mare
With the wind in your hair
Amethyst and flowers on the table, is it real or a fable?
Well I suppose a friend is a friend
And we all know how this will end
Chimney swift that finds me be my keeper, silhouette of the cedar
What is that song you sing for the dead
What is that song you sing for the dead
I see the signal searchlight strike me, in the window of my room
Well I got nothing to prove
Well I got nothing to prove
I forgive you mother I can hear you, and I long to be near you
But every road leads to an end
Yes every road leads to an end
Your apparition passes through me, in the willows and five red hens
You'll never see us again
You'll never see us again

What's so inspiring about the character of Spider-man is his ability to endure. To go through these hardships, to have that anger, to be pushed to his breaking point, and in the end, making it out a stronger than he was before.

Jonah has no patience for bigots. I always dig the moments like that where Jameson shows that he's not all bad. Like I love the scene in the first Raimi film when JJ doesn't sell Peter out to the Goblin, even though it could easily cost him his life. Sure, Jonah's a dickhead, but in his own way he's a stand-up guy.

Jonah was Stan Lee’s interpretation of himself while some say Peter was based off (at least visually early on) off of Ditko. Lee element was confirmed because he wrote Jameson with the intention of playing him in a film eventually

I knew Spider-Man from the Raimi movies as a kid. And when Tasm came out, i kinda followed people when they said Peter Parker is supposed to be a shy and awkward loser, not some confident hothead. That was until i read the Lee/Ditko and into the Lee/Romita and Conway/Kane runs. I was surprised to see how different Peter was in contrast to the Raimi films. Andrew was my favourite version of Spider-Man even tho at the time i thought he was the least accurate, but after reading those runs, it made me love Andrew's version even more since he's in fact probably the most accurate Peter. It's funny how people get so worked up when someone says Tobey is the least comic accurate Peter when they don't even know how comic Peter even acts like. Like damn, i remember that Spider-Man 2 scene where Harry just bitch slaps Peter and Peter takes it like a lil chump. Comic Peter and I bet if Andrew's Peter would definitely fight back if they were in the same situations.
@marxist-leninist-protagonist
@marxist-leninist-protagonist 2 года назад
Haven't read the comics myself, but from the videos of this channel it would seem like Peter would flip the fuck out on Harry if he did that lmao. Mostly considering how much shit was going wrong for him at that point in the movie. And I had a very similar experience as you. That good old "Tobey is the best Peter, Andrew is the best Spidey" blah blah blah... It's very interesting to see how that Trilogy wired an entire generation's brain on something that simply isn't true. (Then again, I don't read comics and I don't know how Peter is after these Stan Lee runs, so people might have a point if he acts like Tobey or just too different from Andrew and Tom later on...) But it's cathartic to see the concept of "comic accuracy" bite the worst part of the Raimi fanbase in the ass. I mean the real dicks. Angry, elitist, purist and downright pathetic fans that drool on nostalgia and literally fight over something so silly... I don't think Tobey's version is any worse because it's different, but goddamn it feels like the universe balanced some shit out after realizing all those silly arguments of "tobe comix acurate" are ...just as false.

I would love to see someone's take on this original version of Peter. I love a lot of the current adaptations, but they've kind of doomed us. So far, the mentality of "we don't need to see his origin story a million times" has prevailed, meaning we likely won't see a proper one for a while. If we don't get the fresh start, it'll be harder to present new takes on the character that are so different from the popular renditions we know
@matthewparker9276
@matthewparker9276 2 года назад
I think in another 10 years or so we will be ready to see the origin story again, and hopefully whoever ends up in charge of that decides to go faithful to the original run in terms of both content and themes.
@Fatboyftw32
@Fatboyftw32 2 года назад
I don't think that's true at all because there's still a lot of takes on the character that we still haven't seen, the main one being an adjusted actually adult Peter Parker, like what we saw in the JMS Era, he was a full on adult, he had a wife who knew about his identity, Aunt May knew about his identity, he had a job as a teacher (Peter's best job) and things were relatively stable for him but there's still so much storytelling possibilities there and you don't need to start him back at 15 where we see Uncle Ben die again to make it happen, there's some things we can take for granted in the origin and that's ok.
@claytonschmohe1786
@claytonschmohe1786 2 года назад
@@Fatboyftw32 I just think that in order to make a character that's drastically different from the somewhat similar cinematic iterations we've seen today (granted they still have their differences) the best way to do it is establish the tone of the new character from the beginning.
@Tim_Belay
@Tim_Belay 2 года назад
So far I think Spectacular was the closest adaptation we've had with Raimi's influence in form of him being a quiet kid not completely erasing his occasional anger bursts. Totally can see how this Peter, quipping, surrounded by girls, being able to talk Flash back unless he's holding back for secret identity's sake and gaining confidence as he he saw himself having a good run while under rubble, would grow into proper adult Spider-Man. We were robbed by the legal issues and man, I wish Sony'd say Screw it and just made a continuation in longer than 44min format
@Fatboyftw32
@Fatboyftw32 2 года назад
@@Tim_Belay Oh that is the most faithful adaptation of the original 60's comics for sure, if original plans continued we wouldn't quite have seen "Adult" (I mean like the JMS era, where he's like 30) Peter Parker, but I believe that the series was gonna go until Highschool graduation, and then we'd see the cast a tad more grown up in some Direct to DVD specials where they were in college. Such a shame Spectacular was ripped away from us too soon.

I agree that Robbie Brown works as reflection of Peter but, I think this can be apply to most of Spider man villains. Just like Peter, they are usually blue collar criminals or victims of scientific accidents, whose goals are just stealing banks or taking over the New York underworld. Some of them even have their personal lifes affected by their role as criminals and have to deal with the consequeces for their actions. A good exemple is Kingpin, who has story that show how him being a crime lord cost him his relationship with his family because Fisk refuse to realize his mistakes and take responsabilitiy for his crimes and the effect they are having on his wife and son, unlike Peter, who tries to balance both his normal and super hero life.

Its time to let Peter Parker be happy. I really don’t get why Spider-Man fans have become so obsessed with this idea that unless Peter is absolutely miserable throughout the entire movie, it’s not a good Spider-Man story. One of my main problems with Spider-Man 2 is that they went too far with showing Spider-Man damaging his personal life. It shouldn’t be so one sided. I’m not saying everything has to be perfect in his life as those hardships help define who he is, but the way some of these fans want to see Peter absolutely depressing is really frustrating.

Bonus points if Herbie Popnecker makes a cross-company guest appearance and reduces Mephisto to a whimpering, pleading wreck like he did with the Devil in his book. "You want me to bop you with this lollipop, mister?" is the most chilling thing any Satan wannabe can hear. It's worse than having the Saint of Killers stop by for a visit. I hope the college trilogy builds up to the proper MCU sinister six. If I where to guess these are the candidates I think have a possibility: Vulture - While Adrian doesn’t remember Peter anymore he does remember Spider-Man and he will be out for vengeance since him being outed as a villain had permanently changed his and his families lives. He’s also among Spider-Man’s memorable rogues to be in the Sinister Six, even being one of its founders. Scorpion - To say that he’s out for blood is an UNDERSTATEMENT! Mac wants to slaughter Spider-Man and Homecoming set him up perfectly. Even if he appears as either Scorpion or Venom (considering No Way Home’s post credits scene) he would be the teams most dangerous member. Shocker - While just being a loser villain and having a small part in the movie I still think it could set up Herman for the future. It could develop him further as a character and as a villain. While he would be the least 3-dimensional character of the team he would still make an impact since his gauntlets are MIGHTY dangerous. And while this villain isn’t in the MCU I still think they set him up in No Way Home. Hobgoblin - While many would see Hobgoblin as a discount Green Goblin he has done plenty of things to prove those claims wrong. While I definitely believe it won’t be Ned (since it would be for no reason) I still think Hobgoblin could be a real asset to the team. Maybe he’s the one to build the gear some of his other team mates will use like Vulture wings, scorpion tails and vibro gauntlets. If you wonder how I think No Way Home set up Hobgoblin it’s by Green Goblin leaving the goblin helmet behind. It could take from the comics on how he found green goblin’s equipment and used it to become a supervillain. Why I don’t think it’s Ned is because he has no reason to be evil and even if they use the “brainwashed ” plot it would still be out of nowhere and a stupid coincidence that of all people Hobgoblin chose it just HAPPENED to be Ned. If Ned turns evil I bet it would feel really forced and out of nowhere.

Since Spider man is going to have a new trilogy in the MCU, I hope the final movie take some inspirations from Amazing Spider Man 100, showing Peter having a battle in his mind and developing as hero while he reflects about his memories and all he went through during this six movies (making the both the old and the new trilogy a huge tribute to Stan Lee's run). Maybe they could take some inspiration from Spectacular Spider man and finally do the "black suit saga" right, with Peter finding and becoming corrupt by the suit in the end of the first movie, or during the second, then in the third he could understand what the symbiote actually is and the two have a mental duel, with Peter defeating the alien with the memories of Aunt May and all his friends, who inspiring him to overcome his doubts and anxiety (represent by the symbiote).

7:30 A lot better than the first Amazing Spider-Man film where before he dies after helping Peter stop Lizard George Stacy tells him to break up with Gwen to protect her only for Peter to get back with her at the end ultimately causing her death in the 2nd film.

I'd like to see Peter begin as a douche bag and not as a quirky geek. Would be cool. Andrew Garfield was the closest

Y'know, it would be kind of hilarious if Pete's first hundred issues had all been him actually in Hell being tormented by an elaborate illusion created by Mephisto after he died from that radioactive spider bite. Not quite sure why the Red Guy would come up with such an implausible scenario for some random damned soul or what Pete would have done to merit damnation (I suppose original sin would do for Christians) but it would certainly be a shocking twist. And no matter how badly it was handled it still wouldn't be the worst Spider-man story with Mephisto in it. :)

In my universe it’s Aaron that’s the original Prowler. What happens is that just like in the comics Spider-Man encounters Prowler and fights him multiple times but also learns about him as a person. He learns about Aaron’s strained relationship with his brother or Aaron’s moral code. One time Spidey encounters Aaron on the roof. Aaron confirms that he isn’t looking for a fight anytime soon as he’s processing the fact that he’s an uncle (setting up Miles Morales years before his debut) and Peter happily congratulate him. The only difference however is that he somewhat fails in what Peter succeeds in mentally and that’s sadly what keeps him as a villain. It isn’t until Miles gets involved after he becomes Spider-Man that he truly changes. And yes Hobbie also appears but just as a cat burglar with a costume that references him being the prowler in the comics.

Yayy new video! Absolutely love your these Spider-Man video essay things that you've been doing on the comic runs! I'm really disappointed what they did to Hobie Brown in the comics because his version of Prowler is far more compelling than Aaron Davis
