It would be better if he woke up when he came back did all that but another short circuit went through and fried the Stark tech and returned him back to his evil ways right as he saved the planet and gave him unlimited energy but because of the warmth and the good feelings from succeeding kept the arms from gaining control immediately but within a couple months they start whispering

The fact that Tony and Otto's goals were so similar made his callback to "the power of the Sun" feel so natural and right, as opposed to feeling forced and thrown in.

In a way they're their own universes equivalent of eachother, not just in goals but also mentors and father figures to Peter, even though their ego and ambition can get the best of them, they still end up doing the right thing.

@@rebajoe Except of course, Tony Stark is the greater genius. Apparently most of the seemingly-advanced 21st century tech in MCU (with the exception of those from Wakanda) are developed by Tony Stark himself, and if it's Tony developing the artificial intelligence in the tentacles, he would have put more and probably better security measures than just an inhibitor chip. (Although he definitely overestimated JARVIS' capability in deterring Ultron)

It’s also important to note that Ock lost an arm to Goblin in the final fight. In Spiderman 2, the way Octavius was able to drown his machine was by getting under it and using *all* his arms to tear it down. So that + the arc reactor + him not being just woken up from his arms and actually having time in the MCU to redeem himself (aka he’s not as suicidal as in SM2) means that he will probably be able to save himself and the city when he gets back home :)

We may get the answer to that in the next doctor strange - it would clear things up to see Tobey's universe Dr Strange - who was semi confirmed by JJJ - come in and say "yea I remember Peter" to verify that it is not cross dimension

Also Otto was down an arm curtisy of Goblin's Glider slicing it off leaving him with three mechanical tentacles, so upon return to his universe I think Spidey would have helped Otto in stopping his machine instead of leaving him to die in a possible failure to drown his machine now that he's down an arm

I mean if Brock was able to leave a part of the symbiote behind I see it completely possible Ock took the Arc Reactor back, we also never see the Goblin Glider disappear possibly hinting towards someone using it in the main MCU timeline later on, plus how would Norman get impaled without it? He’s probably still alive. And another thing, Sandman in this whole film can’t regain his human form until he is cured at the end. Is it possible much like Venom that when he was brought into the MCU he left some sand in the Raimiverse, unable to fully reform? If that’s the case he was probably brought in at the end of 3 or a little bit after when he’s traveling as a cloud of sand.

Goblin leaving the glider in the MCU could lead to possibility of a hobgoblin in the future, with a similar backstory to the original hobgoblin storyline.

The Tritium (a different isotope of Hydrogen) is not the power source that starts the machine. It is the fuel for the reaction. You can't swap the Tritium pellet with an ark reactor (apples and oranges).

I would consider the tritium as a seed instead of fuel, because the reactor is supposed to be self sustaining. But yea, the Arc Reactor wouldn't stop Ock's generator. He would still have to drown the machine.

I think it’s implied that Doc Oc took the Arc Reactor back with him. He could use it to power and increase the containment field of his own experiment and then properly shut it down. The reason we don’t see Doc Oc carrying the Arc Reactor might be because he stored it in his prison pocket (honestly, this made me laugh so loud in DP 2…)

The thing is he doesn't need to do that experiment anymore since the Arc reactor is basically unlimited energy which was what Otto was trying to do with that artificial sun. If anything he may reverse engineer the reactor since it's safer than making an unstable sun. He just wants a safe renewable energy to power everything if I'm not mistaken

I have been saying this ever since the movie came out! Of course the arc reactor would help Doc Ock fix his machine and live, that's why he snatched it from Electro. It works to set up Tobey's Peter and his reunion and to make sure that he could survive in his branch universe and go on to redeem himself to the public there. Honestly, the amount of stories that could be told just in the branch realities these villains return to is incredible, and I'm sure fanfic writers are thrilled

It wouldn't be hard for Doc Ock to reverse engineer the Arc Reactor and mass produce it. Tony Stark's legacy would continue into another universe. This is very similar to how He Who Remains described the interaction with other variants. "Using the best of their universes to improve the others". Also, if Stark were still alive, he would give them each Time Space GPSs so that he would be able to trace where their universes were and travel there himself. He would also have even more anxiety since a lot of those universes don't have Avengers and he would be saddened to think about a Thanos Variant heading to Earth with no Avengers there to stop him.

Doc Oc had a few hours between being cured and showing up for the big fight. He knew what problem he'd be coming back to, so he might have spent his time coming up with a shut-down for his machine so he doesn't have to destroy it or himself. The arc reactor then gives him a way to reach his goal of safe, healthy, unlimited energy.

I think Doc Ock gets to keep the arc reactor so that he truly has a good ending for himself. The fusion reactor is kaput, there's no saving it. But in terms of finding an unlimited power source? He has it now.

I would say that he does go back with the arc reactor and has to because the controller chip that was used to help cure him was created in the mcu. For him to sustain the cure, he would have to go back with that and the arc reactor. If he cannot go back with the mcu tech then he would not be able to have that fixed controller chip and then return as he would have left the ramiverse where the arms are uncontrolled. He would then continue the same events of regaining control through pure will power and have to go through with stopping the machine by taking it knot the river.

Can you imagine Doc Ock and Tobey Maguire working on stark tech to build a Iron Spider suit. The Iron spider suit can be like mark 1 suit that is no perfect and not much stylish. But can be used much better way when Doc Ock become like Jarvis and Tobey Maguire uses his spidy sense and brains to fight tough opponents.

It would be funny to see Doc Ock in the background of a shot in the TVA in Multiverse of Madness (cause of rumors….?) fussing at the guards as he holds the arc reactor since he created an alternate reality not just by being redeemed early (with some Stark tech), but also bringing the reactor from a different universe. Either way, this would be cool to see!!!!

Definitely. It becomes a nexus event for his particular timeline. Based on what happened in No Way Home, the Raimi-verse now has two nexus events (or 3 if the cured Sandman is not from the sacred timeline)

Dont think its about replacing the tridium with the arc reactor but the reason the reaction was out of control was because it breached the containment field . Maybe he could use the arc reactor to power the containment field and not stop the fusion reaction but better contain it . But he would have to think fast

I believe octavias didn't give away all thev iron spider nanotech bots, he might have kept some and will couple it with the arc reactor as both are stark tech and the arc reactor along with nanobots will absorb all fusion reactor power.

I hope someone can answer this question. 1. If doc ock was from 2004 in the moment in which he was strangling Maguire's spiderman, then why is it implied that a long amount of time had passed since hes seen Peter in nwh?

To Otto, it hasn't been long at all. It's been since he ported into the MCU. For Tobey's Peter, it's been YEARS. The reason Otto reacts the way he does at that part is because he's seeing his version of Peter, but from nearly two decades in the future, clearly more physically matured. Otto isn't stupid, I'm sure when he saw Tobey's Peter it clicked in his head that he really DID die in his original timeline, and this is the Peter that witnessed that happen. And if you think about it, it has been quite some time since a normal, uncorrupted Otto Octavius saw Peter. Since then, the arms have clouded his brain and basically outright controlled him. Probably felt like an eternity being in the back seat in his own head. That's what makes the most sense to me. It seemed like Otto's reaction was more of a "Oh hey! It's been a little while!" while Peter's was like a "Holy shit. It's been so long, what is even happening??"

I would assume it works similar to how in endgame they could hold on to material things in the past and bring them to the future. In No way home anything that the character is holding while getting transferred between universes travels with them. That's why otto takes the reactor and the gg glider stays

If we follow the comics physics of different universes, wouldn’t the vibranium in that arc reactor not work in an alternate universe? Granted “What if….” Broke us from comic book continuity by making infinity stones work in other universe, but still 🤷‍♂️
