I really felt for Andrew Garfield. When he says “I want to fight an alien. I’m so lame.” Then Tobey tells him he’s amazing, that made me smile. But when he catches MJ and he’s crying, that was beautiful. They didn’t have to do that, but I love them for giving him that moment.

Would have been a nice extra touch and also a learning moment for holland never to try that with anyone. 100%, he was so good that I wanted more and more of him. He was on another level, and that MJ save was the most emotional I felt in that film. Everybody was great, but Andrew and Dafoe were the standouts to me. Dafoe was the best version of the Green Goblin to date. He was mean, vicious, and brutal; plus that apartment fight was one of the best scenes in the movie. As for Andrew, he brought his A game which shows that he still really cares about playing the role of Spider-Man. Also, the scene where he saves MJ and starts to tear up was the best redemption that his Spider-Man could have had. Overall, this movie was the best.

As for both Tobey and Andrew, I think they both deserve to be Spider-Man again in their own universes. Tobey should get one more film that can be a proper send off to the character like Logan was for Wolverine. As for Andrew, bring him back and put him in the same universe as Venom and Morbius.

The only complaint I have there is that Peter couldn't possibly have heard what Ock said to complete his sentence. It's something a lot of script writers do to make a scene sound cooler but if you check it again, Peter arrives a little after Ock says "The power of the sun" and also says it very quiet in a scenery that up to that point has been very noisy. Him completing the sentence makes no sense since he wasn't close enough to hear what Ock said.

I still can't believe they managed to live up to the potential this idea had. It also ingeniously served to make the ENTIRE Homecoming Trilogy as the Spider-Man origin story, except the narrative role of Uncle Ben has been divided among Tony Stark, Dr. Strange, the other Spider-Men, and Aunt May over the course of 6 films. The Spider-Man at the end of No Way Home is the true beginning of MCU Spider-Man's journey as a true thematic Spider-Man, the one that truly understands the idea that "With Great Power comes Great Responsibility."

This was the most Spider-Man thing I've ever seen. It was pure, unfiltered, distilled Spider-Man. It was a love letter to the comics and movies and at the same time built on all three Spider-Men. It wasn't just looking back and going 'remember this?' it actually developed all three of them. They made Green Goblin the arch nemesis. I was so surprised how he wasn't just a token character, he was the main villain. They had a reason for the other Spider-Men too, in that they acted like elder brothers to Tom. It had jokes, it had drama, it had great fights. Green Goblin and Spider-Man having a superpowered wrestling match? Holy shit that was good. It was a joy. A complete joy.

I honestly think Andrew Garfield turned in an amazing performance here. One of my favorite things from him is how he would subtly show elements of his Peter Parker in the background. E.g. having a discussed face when talking about Tobie's webs, or when he's dashing around the lab he would almost run into people/things in his aloofness.

This film was beautiful. Andrew’s Peter becoming darker because of Gwen’s death is OUTSTANDING, him looking at Peter and MJ with a heartbroken look before being reminded by Tobey that he can find love again is brilliant. I love the fact that “Great Power, comes Great Responsibility” connects the Peter’s just as much as their names and their masks. Them talking about their own unique individual heartbreaks, comparing villains and Tobey and Andrew being AWFUL partners because they aren’t used to it and that’s when Holland’s Spider-Man to me establishes himself with this one moment as a different Spider-Man by becoming a leader and making them work together successfully as a team because he was an Avenger and learnt how to work in a team quickly. The ending to this film is perfect and genuinely got me so excited for the future. An apartment, a homemade suit that looks and feels like Spider-Man, a fun swing through New York and a Spider-Boy being replaced by the Spider-Man. Peter leaving Ned and MJ after he made the world forget who Peter Parker is so he can let them live a happy life (something he always wanted for them) is perfect and a great ending to the trilogy, I expect to see them in Iron Heart as she is in MIT with them. And yes, I want to see TASM 3. A few of my favourite little moments were Peter punching Goblin and screaming at him and with each punch the more Goblin smiles and laughs Electro and Andrew talking about a black Spider-Man and how there has to be one somewhere (foreshadowing???) The Peter’s comparing villains Tobey and Otto having a reunion “well it’s good to see you dear boy” Tobey throwing himself in front of the Goblin glider and preventing Norman from dying, a nice nod to when he moved out of the way of the Glider in Spider-Man 1 which caused Norman to die.

i would actually be totally satisfied if this IS the ending for tom’s tenure in the role, because it’s been the perfect long con reverse origin story. he was given everything all at once, then he slowly started to lose stuff, then in this movie he made the choice to give up the rest and start over from the very bottom. i think it’s completely brilliant.

Andrew Garfield is THE perfect example of a phenomenal actor suffering from bad writing. He absolutely owned every scene he was in, he outshined Tobey and Tom with his charisma and acting skills; he proved that he’s not only the best Spider-Man but also the best Peter Parker. He was forced to move to a new home, his future dreams were crushed, everyone think hes a villain... All of this causing him to reach out to Dr Strange out of desperation to brainwash everyone just to restore his life again. Only causing everything to get so much worse for him. He involved himself with the wrong crowd causing Aunt May to die. All of this is his fault and he is devastated by it and he knew that he was the only one to fix it by making everyone in his life including the only people close to him at this point to forget about him. I’m so glad I went into this movie without it being spoiled. I honestly didn’t expect them to do it. I thought we’d get cameo teases, maybe a scene or even a “just in time” appearance at the final battle. But no. They didn’t just give us versions of the characters played by the previous actors. They gave us the *actual* characters for almost half the movie. From the moment Willem Dafoe said the meme line, I realized this movie was all about giving us what we wanted to see, and my goodness did they do it well. They gave the Peters entire scenes to banter and have all the discussions that fans have dreamt up over the years. They even took the emotional arcs from each character’s previous films and resolved them. Garfield catching MJ-something he failed to do last time that shook him to his core-and lingering on the emotion of that moment was one of the most moving things I’ve experienced watching any of the MCU films. It was not a perfect movie, of course, and I can think of a few flaws. But once again, the MCU has delivered something I simply haven’t experienced before, and for that, it has a place in cinema history.

What I loved about that scene was that it completely justified having both Spider-Men in the movie. Their initial appearance might have been fan service on its own, but without that scene on the rooftop to solidify why they were there, it wouldn't have had the same gravitas and depth. I will never understand how people can love movies that are as generic and surface level as the Spider-man home- movies and MCU-movies in general (with a few exceptions.. sort of). It’s not just the bland music and bland cinematography/camera work.. it’s the script… These movies are not even CLOSE to being as deep and touching as the Raimi-trilogy… There are no real themes and I can hardly get emotionally invested even when I try… Even most high school movies are deeper and more touching than the Spider-man home trilogy, even The amazing spider-man 1 and 2 honestly, they are clearly more well written… The home-trilogy has such fast pacing and so many jokes that it feels like a trailer and the movie felt half as long as it was. These movies are just comedys without the edge or the heart. Most comedies either have edge (Borat) or heart (Superbad) - and the Home-movies have neither. They feel so so so EMPTY, like all marvel-movies almost… I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE TOUCHING AND HAVE ANY DEPTH…. It would be one thing if people just watched them as cheap popcorn entertainment, like Roger More-era James Bond-movies, but no, people actually think these movies are meaningful, and they get mad when Martin Scorsese compared them to theme park rides. THEY ARE THEME PARK RIDES!! Spider-man 2 is fkn MILES above all these pacable okay heartless studio trash… Even Spider-man 3… No way home is NOT a true spider-man movie just because an important character died and the last 10 minutes were touching. THERE ARE NO THEMES! These things just HAPPEN! The movie didn’t have a structure at all!

Most of my appreciation is probably leaning on the nostalgia factor but I was an emotional mess during the last hour of this movie. It had some flaws for sure with the jumping around and me thinking "how did that work?" but bringing all the memories back made this a masterpiece for me. I'm 40 years old and went alone since my wife doesn't like these kind of movies and my five year old isn't ready for them yet. The guy I was sitting next to was also there alone, my age, and we both had a nice conversation when it was over. Part of our discussion was similar to what Chris said in this video about being able to witness all these characters come together. I had a similar reaction when End Game came out. I was an emotional wreck watching that as well and can only hope the way these movies build up multiple stories and come together like this will continue.

Even though andrew's movies was not as good as it could have been, to me it was still spiderman, the guy who saves the neighbourhood and helps the little guy. Then came tom holland who interested me, a kid who spends his time building lego death stars and easily solves math problems and is in the trivia team. Tom's journey as spiderman was filling, from civil war to beating thanos. The chemistry between Tom, Tobey and Andrew was just beautiful and done so well. Tobey and Andrew could have just done this movie for the paycheque, but they poured their heart and soul into their performance. Hopefully that Tom, Tobey and Andrew know that us fans are so appreciative of their performance. I will remember this movie for the rest of of my life, and I am certainly not alone in thinking that.

Andrew got the worst deal when it came to his movies so his enthusiasm made perfect sense! I also liked how Toby was there but giving a matured version of the character. I've seen some say he was "phoning" it in and I disagree - it wouldn't have made much sense for Toby to come in with the same energy as Andrew. That moment with Tobey stopping Tom from killing the Goblin with the glider is incredible. You can see three movies of experience in the look Tobey gives to Tom. I also like how, in the other universes, Uncle Ben died because Peter was selfish, which makes them try to be better, but with Tom Holland, he loses Aunt May because he was selfless and yet he keeps going because it's the right thing to do. Very inspiring stuff.

I think that at this point that should be a staple of canon for Spider-Man: have Ben die because of Peter's selfishness, then have May die because his selfness. I think it is a genius idea that Spider-Man PS4 brought to the table and that I feel should stay, it makes the character go full circle from becoming an obnoxious self serving teen to the greatest hero New York has ever seen.

They took the time to give each Spidey a big moment that was significant to their character. Andrew is saving MJ as some level of redemption for Gwen. Tobey stops Tom from killing the Goblin since he knows what it's like to kill someone with vengeance in your heart, and finally, Tom makes a massive sacrifice in having everyone who loves him forget about him to keep them safe. This was such a good movie.

What makes the ending of this movie so good is not just that we now have classic Peter Parker in his shitty apartment, struggling to pay rent, feeling lonely, making his own suit, etc. while being being a superhero, but that unlike other iterations of Spider-Man, THIS Peter wasn't just given a bad hand in life-he actively CHOSE it. For the good of the world, he CHOSE to give up his friends and mentors, CHOSE to give up Stark tech and money, CHOSE to give up his bright future. He sacrificed everything that made him the cool Iron Man Jr. and chose to be classic Spider-Man instead. That, to me, makes this the single most faithful depiction of the heart of Spider-Man we've ever gotten onscreen, even with all the crazy shit thrown in.

But then Toby's OG Spiderman steps in and tells Andrew that: no, his Spiderman is AMAZING. Which I agree, Andrew was a very good Spiderman in many ways. Also in the trailer is a Spiderman poster with the word Murderer written on it. In the new Spiderman Garfield says he quit pulling his punches. Spiderman is known to have enough strength to toss a car easily. That kind of strength would kill a normal human if used on one.
