That's because the stubble isn't the only change. He's got some mild wrinkles, some darkness under his eyes, and other details taken from the old face.
@@jadenwilliams615 people who complains about the new face are probably the ones who haven't even hit puberty yet, they just expect a 25 year old to look like a middle-aged man
Fyi someone have created john bubniak character mod right now, the modder has implement it on the cutscene. But the facial expression when the characters talk is not ready yet. Still have to wait
Yeah. I guess I’ve gotten used to Ben Jordan’s face a bit more but John Bubniak is just loveable and his facial expressions make the story much more engaging. I still just wish they’d bring him back for Spider-Man 2
@@hopelesslyoptimistic8231 it's not about wanting to play the game with another face, it's about immersion, in the game the history make us believe Peter is a grown man who already have been doing spidey stuff for a long time, in the remaster the new face just make Peter look way young of what is portrait in the story, these kind of mods is not for people who just want to play the game with another face is for those who wants the more immersive experience possible.
I think it'd be cool if the stubble got progressively heavy through the story. Start with the light stubble, but by the time of the Ryker's breakout onwards, the stubble gets heavy
@@kb107 I wouldn't say it's too much to ask for, but I guess it's more about "if it's appropriate or viable to the character". The progressive stubble would be attached to the progression of the story, not generate in order for you to shave it off at anytime. In my mind, I'd imagine the escalating situation would hardly give time to properly groom oneself (hence the stubble). But from another standpoint, it's also kind of rare and even a little weird to see a Peter Parker with significant facial hair. Plus, most of the time we're playing him, he's Spider-Man mask and all so I guess it's not a big priority to convey details like that.
Another thing I love, this rework makes Peter look exhausted. His eyebags are more defined and looks like he has little time to work on himself. He looks stressed out. Its a perfect look for someone who's up all day and night being a hero and miserably balancing personal life as well. I'm gonna say somethong controversial but...I think I like this more than the original PS4 face. If Insomniac made the new face this, then I'd be absolutely okay with it
@@ChickenAndFries09Twitch I know what I mean is that this eyebags, this kind of eyebags (ps5 face) to ps4 OG face, and with more remastered OG face. IMAGINE.
It's not completely bizarre. They changed the face because Yuri Lowenthal and John Bubniak have very different faces, which makes mapping Bubniak onto Lowenthal harder.
@@enzogomes9371 It's more about the facial structure than a full resemblance; the shape of the new guy's face is more like Yuri, along with "placement" of the facial features, which should make it easier to map for Spider-Man 2.
Yeah but does that mean that if he shaves he’s not an adult looking guy anymore? I’m 24 and when I shave i look younger, but that doesn’t mean I could not be credible as a 24yo in a fictional world or something.. i’m still 24 lmao Like, my point is, people complaining that pet looks younger don’t really make sense, since a lot of 23years old look very young
Personally light stubble adds so much personality to this established character. Also this version of Peter Parker in the game is adult so it's really on brand.
As much as I love Insomniac they really took a big L when they added this face. It's amazing how a mod can make it look infinitely better than the original game.
I think the light stubble is perfect. Gives him JUST enough more maturity in his look while retaining the artistic direction for his character. I don't like the new face but this makes it a lot better.
I believe he's 25 now. Just that bit of grit makes a big difference. I do like the previous face a little more, it had that "awake overnight" look which fits Pete's actions through out the game.
I wholeheartedly think it's the hair that makes him look so babyfaced and young. Seriously, if it was blown back like the original model's hair was, or even just down and messy (which in my opinion would've been the best route for this new model), it'd be a HUGE improvement.
LOVE this type of stuff! The OG will always be perfect, but this mod makes this face WAY more worthy of the “23 year old, been spidey for 8 years” Pete. It seems to work so well, as I downloaded the same kind of mod for Cal in Jedi Fallen Order and it was amazing! Never gone back, and won’t here either, since Bubniak’s face will likely never be properly rigged for the cutscenes. Great work @ColbyDash!
Same. The only problem, however, was that it looked too young to be a man in his mid to late 20s. It was never bad, just young looking. This mod, is great as it only improves on it to make he look older. It's better, and easier, than just making a mod to outright replace it
13:31 Here is where you can see why the beard mod is specifically improving the new face. Peter is more naturally lite, rather then evenly. This mod just proves why the old face was better, Peter feels like an actual adult in a "rea-life" environment - not a perfect Disney movie.
I might be the only one who likes the heavier stubble. But I think a changing face model would be a cool idea, like it goes from none to light to heavy at different parts of the game!
@@bookofnamzays9477 Nope. Problem has been trying to extract the models from the PS4 version also giving it the animations. Someone was able to extract it, but the mouth doesn't move, the textures are messed up, and generally looks janky as fuck. Hopefully someone will be able to figure it out, but considering the limited tools modders have, it might be a while.
This one looks like he jumped straight out of the comics. The crazy part is people were saying the old face looked weird when the game first released. Its the same thing all over again😂
@@no.1spidey-fan182 the difference is that the complainants that the old face had aren't as bad as the new face had to begin with. And saying that this face jumped straight from the comics isn't a smart move to say 😂
While i'm one of the rare few people who like the new face, I will say the beard mod really puts emphasis on how young he looks... I still reckon the new face looks fine and JUST old enough considering how Peter's powers work on his age, but this definitely does make him look like a young, grizzly hero who's gone out fighting crime every day for almost the past decade.
It's actually kinda hilarious how much better it looks with even just light stubble. The baby-smooth face just...doesn't work. I hope he looks more mature like this in the sequel.
Honestly. The new face before the mod looks completely accurate to what a 23 year old male can look like. I don’t know why people think when you hit 20 you immediately look like an old man lol. Not everyone grows facial hair and looks “older”
How the hell do you think they're NOT going to do it... of course they are, because after the backlash they got buddy it's going to be they're freaking *PRIORITY* to improve it towards it's HIGHEST potential. Dont worry dude, insomniac will improve on EVERYTHING for number 2, including the damn face.
It's kind of crazy how a lot of people think a 25 year old guy should look like they're going through mid-life crisis and haven't slept for a week, I've seen a bunch of 25 year olds who look like they're 15
This is a great mod, the heavy stubble REALLY really fixes the baby-face of the Remastered model. Imo Yuri's voice still doesn't fit the new model though.
Not only does the light stubble make him look way more mature and accurate to what he should look like, it also just makes him look overall realistic, seriously hope he literally has that exact face in SM2
Everyone seems to like light stubble, but i like heavy one, because it looks more like dude always doing something so he don't have time to shave it every day
It would've been cool to see Peter's facial hair grow out as the story progressed. Peters new face would look much more mature, and it would emphasize the fact that he doesn't have any spare time in his personal life.
@@skefsongames it’s not possible yet, maybe if modders are given more tools the face is easy to import it’s the animations the face and hair was already found from ps4 files it’s just the facial animations won’t work the mouth won’t move the bone structure is messed up too
@@wthleafy yeah I saw they had the face in but it doesnt move. I dont know enough about how it's modded to say if its possible or not. From whay I understand it's just swapping models and stuff. Maybe if someone rigs it in the same way as the new model or somehow get it from the ps4 version we could have it ported? Im happy with this mod for now anyway, it's crazy what difference a beard makes.
