One thing I love about Kingpin is how hes not really a superpowered villain, at the very least Fisk is an incredibly skilled and intellectual normal human being with a criminal strategic mind and I think his rivalry wirh characters like Spiderman and Daredevil is so nuanced and fascinating
That kingpin story in Spider-Man tangled web was really good I miss that series it was great exploring more of the Spider-Man mythos and not just him but side characters, villains, and regular people too
I remember when i first got into spiderman, i loved kingpin. I loved his lore and how deep it was. He feels like a real character. So i asked my dad who also likes spiderman and was there when he first came out if he knew who kingpin was. His response? "The big fat guy?". Its sad how people look at him as just some fat guy whos not a threat
What I adore about kingpin the most is that they can’t decide if they want him a strong human character but a human nonetheless or if they want him to consistently fight superhumans to a standstill. It’s a continuous dilemma for his character. At least with ultimate, there is an excuse.
What if there was a Marvel Earth where The Burger that shot Uncle Ben (Dennis Carradine) worked for the Kingpin and that Kingpin was the one who orchestrated Uncle Ben’s death.
off topic but I like how you say to anyone who says that mj is toxic that ''yOu dONT UnDERsTANd Mj'' when you dont understand Black Cat because you say that she ''only cares for/about Spider-Man and not Peter Parker'' when her not loving peter hasnt been a thing for like 40 years and her whole arc was about her learning to love both sides of Peter.............................. ngl thats kinda hypocritical of you 😂😂😂
This has nothing to do with the video. Why not comment this on the video you’re referencing so I can rewatch what I said because I don’t even know what you’re talking about. To say Black Cats arc is about her learning to love both sides of Peter when Peter was married for over 15 years of the 40 year period you’re referencing literally makes no sense. Black Cat also has consistently horrific character progression. Whenever a writer makes progress with her another one just destroys it again. In the last 40 years you can not argue black cat has had any consistent growth. You just can’t and I don’t know why you’re trying to lmfao
@@spidermaniawhy do you think i said off topic? also yeah i mispoke about the 40 years part but the point is by the time that she learned to love both sides of peter it was too late bc he was already married to mj which is why she devasted when she learned that he was married and there is LITERALLY a panel that takes place Post One More Day where peter re reveals his secret identity to felicia and they literally hugged it out. also you Had the Audacity to say that she has hasnt had any consistent growth when for the last 16 years both 616 Mj and peter havent had any consistent growth to😂😂😂😂
This guy is always treated like a force of nature like he seems completely invulnerable as he is supposed to be a normal man but he is able to kick Spider-Man,Daredevil etc ass with ease and if he was killed or arrested is like opening the Pandora’s box if you know what I mean.
“You forgot something, Fisk. Something you should have remembered before you decided to put a bullet through someone too old and frail to get out of the way. And it's this: For all your money, for all your cruelty, for all your big talk... you don't have any real power. You can't fly, can't stick to walls, can't turn into living flame or stretch out across a twenty-foot room. At the end of the day, you're just a fat man with an attitude... a balloon just waiting for someone to stick a needle in it. And me? I'm the needle.” Damn Spider-Man can be absolutely savage when he needs to be. And as savage as that line is it doesn’t entirely dismiss Kingpin because it also highlights how effective Kingpin can still be in a world with so many superhumans
Wasn't Tombstone in Spectacular Spider-Man originally going to be the Kingpin too? I think he should've been in this video because he's really Kingpin in everything but the name and he's phenomenal
While watching this video I realized it’s not that kingpin is somehow as strong as spiderman with super strength, it’s more like he’s the strongest normal human in the world, and Peter Parker was lucky to get super strength to the level of _him_ overnight
I need to read Amazing Spider-Man in his glory days during the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and early 2000s through the Epic Collections. Kingpin is by far one of my favorite villains in the Spider-Man comics.
I love Netflix Kingpin, but my biggest concern with him in the MCU is that they they'll make him lose too frequently. Kingpin needs to win, cause upsets and redirect the status quo. If every season he loses it would take away from him.
The Ultimate version of the Kingpin is the best. Also, I like Vincent D'Onofrio in the DD show, but I would have liked a clean slate for the MCU. It would have been cool to finally see a gigantic Kingpin onscreen.
this entire RU-vid channel "how can i make this about OMD and how everything after it is awful" there are hundreds of really cool kingpin stories but you happen to pick the one that leads to your hate boner of OMD i get it its shit but you don't even allow yourself to talk about even the stuff you like without bringing that up. look if you want a good kingpin story from the 2000s how about the one where spidey beats the kingpin in cards spectacular spider-man 21 (that's better than back in black anyway)
I picked Back in Black because it’s a godlike Kingpin story. I HARDLY brought up OMD. All I said was back in black led to it. That doesn’t make back in black bad back in black isn’t OMD it’s its own storyline. Editorial chose to make these storylines tied together. That’s not on Back in Black. I did talk about what I liked? I talked about amazing issues 50-52 Spider-Man’s tangled web issue 4 and back in black 3 of my favorite kingpin stories. “If you want a good kingpin story from the 2000’s” I already picked a good kingpin story from the 2000’s it’s in this video and it’s called Severance package. If you want to make a recommendation for books I should read do that. But coming in here saying all my videos are about OMD and how it sucks is just ludicrous. I HARDLY talk about that garbage storyline. And when I do I call it garbage and move on. If you want to criticize me at least make it constructive.
@@spidermania you also literally said everything after OMD is garbage for no reason. And that simply isn't true. You go out of your way to insult nearly 20 years worth of comics for no reason.
@@robanator64 a very very large majority of everything after OMD does in fact suck. Not a single full run is above a 7/10. Nick spencer’s is probably closest I’d give it a 6/10. It started at a 9/10 and fell off a cliff. The other runs are slotts and wells… yeah it’s trash
@@spidermania that doesn't mean you have to constantly say that, also I did like when you talked about the older comics cause it's clear you like Spider-Man at least in that era, but the constant bashing of an era you clearly hate so much is just as unconstructive as you claim I am being.
Also sorry if I come across as mean, I am mostly just tired of the constant negativity that Spider-Man fans tend to have on everything and that they feel the need to spread even on topics that are not even related to that.
Why don't they adapt spiderman 50 for the mcu spiderman 4 ?? Current mcu spidey sucks and this could save it him if he ain't already dead.. he iron boy Jr forever at this point
