What’s happening in this Spider-Man movie clip?
After a robbery, Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire from The Great Gatsby and Brothers) gives way for the perpetrator to run down the hallway and use the elevator to escape, instead of blocking his way for the police to catch him. When the owner asks Peter why he didn’t stop him, he asks him back why would he care. However, when he gets back to the street, Spider-Man notices a crowd gathered around an old man that was recently shot by a car hijacker. When he gets closer, Peter notices that the man who was shot was Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen from Apocalypse Now and Frankie). Spider-Man hears on the police radio that the police are on a car pursuit to catch the thief, so he runs to get his suit on and starts following the car chase.

SPIDER-MAN DOES NOT EXIST WITHOUT UNCLE BEN This is what makes me so disappointed and angry with MCU Spider-Man and how Marvel and Sony has just completely swooped Uncle Ben’s importance and relevance under the rug in favor of Aunt May as their Spider-Man’s Uncle Ben figure, which is very insulting to Spider-Man’s entire character. And even MCU Aunt May fucking sucks ass in this goddamn lousy ass trilogy. They’re making it as if Uncle Ben never even existed and it’s very disrespectful and belittling to Spider-Man’s legacy, and it cheapens the appeal of the character because it proves that he was never responsible from the start like Tobey and Andrew’s Spider-Men were. Tony Stark was definitely a huge problem in the Holland trilogy, but them not including Uncle Ben’s importance in his trilogy is a big fuck you to us Spider-Man fans. And it makes MCU Spider-Man the redheaded stepchild amongst live action Spider-Man adaptations. His movies are like, Spider-Man lite. Uncle Ben is missing is definitely what ruins the trilogy, and it’s very disappointing. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men rock because they have all the components of what makes Spider-Man such an iconic comic book giant and what makes him so timeless. It’s because they’re more mature and responsible, and they have a particular father figure to motivate them to step up when the chips are down. And both of their uncles deaths are impactful and emotionally haunting unlike MCU Spider-Man where it’s flat, lifeless, and soulless
