Once u put them in small water jars should we put them the sunny areas?
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN Год назад
Hi! I would not put in sunny location. It's best to put her in a brightly lit area (800 foot candles) which = approx 4' from west facing window, that will be a good spot. 😀🪴

What happens to the stems of the parent plant after cutting? Do they die or recede back? Or is preventive trimming needed?
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN Год назад
You can leave the stem as is if you see additional flowers or mall baby spiders developing. but sometimes they will darken/ dry up which means you can cut them off.😀🪴

I couldn’t see where you cut the plant. What do you do with the long branch hanging off of the mom? What was the opaque thing? What did that mean? I think I am more confused now.
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN Год назад
Hi, sorry about the confusion. You can cut off the long stem parts, but keep the knotted root parts … and opaque container is just another name for a solid outer container to keep sunlight from causing algae in water 😀🪴

Can we just leave the spider plant in the water container to grow indefinitely?
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN Месяц назад
Hi you can try, but she may be stunted over time and not grow large. 😀🪴

Hi there, we use a liquid 20-20-20 April thru September. Alos when watering, we have found that rain water or spring water is great, helps reduce leaf tip burn. Hope this helps 😀🪴

I’ve had (have) a spider plant for a few years now but no babies yet 😔 why is this?
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN 8 месяцев назад
Hi there, spider plants kinda want to be pot bound, and being pot bound kinda sounds like the wrong thing to do for a plant, but when constricted in a pot she will start to send out babies. Also, giving her more light might kick start babies. 😀🪴

I have a problem. A friend said she had babies she didn’t want them so she brought them to me. Welllllll. There are several tiny tiny tiny babies and none of them have roots. Is there anyway to grow them? I have the stem in a bottle of water but I don’t think that will do anything. Maybe cutting them off and laying them in shallow container with pumice and small amt water? I’m sad about this. 😥
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN Год назад
Hi, I would try placing the babies in a mini greenhouse ( old tupperware plastic container. You can add a thin layer of vermiculite and cactus soil 50-50 mix. add some water, just enough to get soil mix damp. Then Set babies upright and close lid. Open lid once a week to check and to get fresh air inside mini greenhouse. In several weeks time, they may take, but it's a gamble, I hope this is helpful.😀🪴

@@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN . Thanks so much. I decided to try different methods since there are so many babies. I put two in very shallow water in a shot glass. Some in pumice, some in sand, and some in cactus soil. I left the remainder on the stems and put the stems in a vase with water. I will add your method and as things go, I’ll switch out any that look worse in their environment. They are all healthy looking now but they just had their premature birth yesterday. I told my friend to wait till they have some roots or nubs before cutting them off if she or someone else wants to propagate. All my outdoor plants are suffering in this Oklahoma heat and now I have a nursery to attend to. Lol.
@twinfin8571
@twinfin8571 Год назад
@@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN . Ok. Green house made. Some babies alone, some still attached to the stem with other little froths on it. Hopefully, a lot make it but it will be interesting if any do. Thanks again.

Please tell me how it goes. I love doing propagation on plants, I just propagated a Purple Shamrock petiole that I broke off by accident and it rooted! I hope your spider baby propagation works!!!!! 😀🪴

Thanks for the feedback. I work hard to improve each of my videos with close up of the plants. And My current videos all have multiple close ups of the various plants I am discussing. OnTalking, well that is vital and I have my own style that many people love, I will not change that, it's who I am. So if my talking head vids is not your vibe, you can go to a static garden website and read plant care /propagation for yourself and be one your way..😀🪴

Do you change the water during the two month root propigation time?
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN Год назад
Hi there! Yes, we recommend you replace the water every week or so. But use water that has set out for 48 hrs to allow chlorine to evaporate. Hope this helps with your propagation! 😀🪴
