My thoughts exactly. He's thrown brand new filament at a brand new printer and is saying "wow this filament is amazing" but I've had nice filament get cruddy after months of sitting in storage, and $8 1kg rolls from aliexpress printing just as well when they're brand new compared to other 'high end' materials. Not to mention this printer is known for being excellent....

Kinda - although things like the same temperature isn't a fair test. Filaments need to be printed at their lowest optimal temperature for fair test of quality (or sometimes hotter for more gloss, etc.).

@@traviseiler9173 That is still *really* expensive for PLA filament. :V Don't get me wrong, it's great that people are pushing for "problem-free" printing, but I predict they're going to have trouble competing with prices like that. Per-weight it's more than double the cost of $20/kg PLA, and compared to AmazonBasics "Premium PLA" (which is cheap +-0.05mm stuff, granted, but I've had great experiences with it and minimal fuss) it's still double the cost. I'm going to hold out and see more reviews/tests done on it before I judge it further, maybe it's stronger than normal? Less/more flexible?

My thoughts.... those prints are from people that probably fine tuned the file to make sure you got the best print possible, kinda like the dog print that comes with the Ender 3 (which prints up great, but anything else you make/slice yourself doesn’t have as nice of a finish). Also, if the files are already sliced and ready to print (in gcode), doesn’t that mean the factory settings on the printer get replaced temporarily by the gcode file of the print you are printings? I really doubt the factory settings on the CR6 are actually being used.

Since you asked: I, for one, would not be interested in seeing more about this filament because while it is extremely nice PLA, it is still PLA. The mechanical and environmental requirements of my designs are such that I long ago moved to PETG. I would be interested in learning of new brands of PETG that are similarly beautiful and easy to print. Bonus points if they come on a master spool -- I am drowning in spent spools.

Joel, I'd also love to see this on other printers, especially the Prusa mk3s. I've been looking for some high quality filament since my go to, Hatchbox, has become pretty hard to get in PLA right now. Virtual social distancing high five 🖐️

I would like to see you use some more of the spider filament on the Ender 3 but I would also like to see a review of filaments purchased from amazon. The cheapest to the expensive, is there really a difference? This spider filament might be a good sign to stop buying the cheapest filament available. How about if it sits out for a month, does the filament degrade? You bring a lot to the table for all of us to learn from, so thank you for sharing.

I would love a full video on the filament. I backed a CR6 and I am new to filament printing. I love my Elegoo Mars and I am printing miniatures almost constantly. But I wanted something to make terrain with and I decided to bite the bullet and grab a filament printer. My experience with resin is sometimes different colors behave differently, so I would love to see how various colors of this filament behave.

I’m guessing the different colours of resin behave differently due to the way the uv light interacts with the coloured liquid. Since filament printers are all heat based, most colours print quite similarly! The weird outlier in filament printing is when you get into specialized filament, or switch types.

@@kylelozinski6976 You are most likely correct. However, my experience with paint has taught me that different pigments can behave very differently than others. So depending on how the filament is colored I would not be surprised if there are some variations between the colors as well.

Oh my lord.. that is some genuinely good material. Used to be just get glittery material to hide the layers at 0.2 layer height

I would like to see a video breakdown on the Spidermaker filament to see if it's the filament or the machine that has given you those results... I have a CR-10 with a CR-10s board and a Bondtech DDS, and I'm looking for a good filament that can give me these results

Hope to have a similar experience as yours with the CR-6 SE! Thanks for the video Joel, and it would be great to watch a review video on that filament, it just looks amazing!

Definitely need to see this pla put to the test! I have a CR-10S and would love to see how it prints this filament. I might even buy some just to try myself!

When you showed the filament quality, was wondering isvit was the filament, the characteristics of it (¿black mate whish may hide the banding?) And also may be the printer's job... So..to the question if i want more info in a new video, my answer is and always is YEEEESSS!!!!!

This filament seems to be really awesome. I also backed The CR 6 and I hope I get the same results you did. Can’t wait to see the full filament review.

I got some Spidermaker filament a few months ago because I wanted their Iron Blue color for a project I was printing. It is more expensive than typical filament, but I was also very pleased with it. I would love to see you do a more in-depth review of their filament.

I'd like to see you print some 28mm minis with that filament. Curious to see how well it handles them.

Right now, Polymaker PLA's (Polylite and Polymax) are my go to for optimal strength and surface appearance. If you can perform a strength test for Spidermaker PLA and it turns out comparable to Polymaker's stuff... I'm about to make the leap. These prints look amazing!

Reminds me how hatchbox's matte pla, I've been using it recently and it's changed my everyday filament for the better

Yes, more on Spidermaker filament! I’ve been looking at this product line for an upcoming project. Beautiful variety of colors in a matte finish, but was concerned about performance to price.

That's a nice show of the filament, excited to see how it prints on other printers A thing to note, spider filament looks to be 3 times more expensive than my usual 0.02-0.03 tolerance PLA Is that also an affiliate link to the filament?

Spider Maker filament is the best. It’s a little pricey but I rarely have fails and the prints are exceptional

I'd like to see more of this filament, sure! The only premium brand (>$25ish per kg for PLA) I've really consider thus far is FilamentPM, because their MarbleJet PLA is simply beautiful, and having an alternative that might be easier/cheaper to ship would be really great.

Hey Joel - Great Video! I have a year old stock Aquila that I haven’t built yet, I am interested in printing miniatures and spaceships - do you think that this filament could also get fairly good results? I would consider Resin, however; I live in an apartment and it may not be practical. Thanks
