the villains are all mostly irredeemable monsters. A hero is meant to be a protector and a role model, so killing someone would absolutely be taken more seriously since it goes against what a hero should stand for.
No joke huh?! That's so true especially in the comic book world. I know you just said it but again for example batman could be doing a bunch of good deeds and kills the villian joker accidentally and then all the police forces would go after batman like he was a psychopath murderer, and yet we all know what the joker has done and what's he capable of. That's annoying thinking about that. Lol.
@@stevensantoyo926 there is an episode in batman beyond where the entire police goes after terry and they re seen actually been pretty competent when the rest of the series they re pretty much useless.
@@kindachaos9775 Yeah, but in most stories this happens in, they are much more willing to actually kill the fallen hero than the criminals that push them to that state. While there is something morally wrong with supers taking the rule of judge, jury, executioner over the law... It's kinda messed up that 9/10 comics just let these guys walk (unless we're talking about Cletus, the only villain I've even seen get put on death row and strapped in the chair). We all know the meta reason why they just don't right off kill villains on the regular, but the blatant refusal for the likes of mass murderers, terrorists (domestic, and international/extra terrestrial), and repeat offenders) is rather strange. (Sure I know the death pen in NY was abolished in 07 but also Pete 616 was born in 85, currently 28 years. Peter first became Spider-Man at the age of 15 in 2000 that's still 7 years of active death penalty.) I also love that they automatically went to lethal force when Parker resisted, a fight he obviously could not win given time but hey it's only killing criminal masterminds that is wrong, not a time weathered vigilante who has helped us non lethally for decades (sure still illegal, but I don't think Peter has the same long rap sheet our favorite pelt wearing hunter has).
"I saq the future where everyone close to me died and fought a hoard of heavily armed cops before getting shot from behind with my chest being blasted open. But I had a really dripped out coat and went out in a badass way"
This comic reminds me a lot of the Batman story "Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader?", in which Bruce's spirit watches his own funeral and his friends and enemies (including Alfred, Catwoman, Superman, Joker and Bette Kane) telling very different stories about his life and deaths, which only have in the common the fact Bruce died fighting to the end. It is a pretty surreal tale
The Difference Is, No Matter How Strong and Smart Bruce Is... He's Still Normal Human Being No SuperStrength, No SuperSpeed,, If He's Getting Heavily Outnumbered In Area Which No Escape Available, He Can Die..... Especially Against Firearms But Spiderman tho? He Can Just... Y'know, Punching Hole In The Body Of Every Police Member Who Brave Enough To Try Killing Him Spiderman Can Survive This... It's A Plot Hole
@@imashadow699 it’s usually agreed spiderman holds back against most so he was probably not trying to hurt the police (too much) while also trying to protect himself
Yeah, but here it was actualy okay, as this is just a bit from that story, the story itself is amazing and the ending scene is one of the best spiderman moments of all time in my opinion
They need that pay, I wouldn't be surprised if they are payed extra for dealing with these villains, how dare spiderman kill our bonuses, Is my theory 🤔
So, what your saying is that superheroes shouldn't be held to higher standards than the criminals they bring in? That's stupid. Superheroes shouldn't kill people or pass on judgment, that's the court's job.
@@Stoner_BoiShoot, even the Spidey that beat up Kingpin held back. There was a WHAT-IF comic where the hitman that Kingpin hired to kill Peter shot MJ instead of Aunt May. Well MJ died and Peter eventually found out it was Kingpin. The end result? Peter punched Kingpin square in the chest one time, killing him instantly. His entire forearm was covered in blood. Spider-Man literally punched a hole in Kingpin.
Gonna be real, I do not believe that any police station would willingly arrest a hero who killed a supervillian. It's more likely they just write it off as an accident, or simply state it was in self-defense
This whole comic is awesome, there's a moment where peter is going through every one of his most emblematic moments and he realizes he can use this oportunity to actually save Gwen this time, but Strange doesn't let him and tells him they need to keep fighting. It's heartbreaking but I love it so much, the ending is totally worth the read imo
Peter: "Damn, watching my own future has been really terrifying. I am still getting chills all over my body..." Dr. Manhattan: "Now imagine the nihilistic impotence one feels when constantly looking at his past, present and future, completely unable to have, even for a second, the gift of uncertainty..." Peter: "Dude, why are you naked?" Dr Manhattan: 🖕
thing is, peter wouldn't give into nihilism that easy, unlike Manhattan he would actually try to fix things and protect people WITHOUT endangering people
the police officer who killed spiderman: Hey guys... Guys? the rest of the police force: you killed a "villain" who killed people. you must die for that.
At least it wasn’t one of the senseless ones where they break him for the sake of breaking him, we love Spider-Man because he gets back up despite his struggles
Honestly this trope is so fucking stupid. Killing someone whos a mass murderer dorsnt make the hero evil, he just stopped nore people from dying. Batman needs to kill the Joker but if he does he'll become a monster.
@@dead_vibesi just look like the judges should give him a death sentence and not batman, like they have the proofs that he is an serial killer and shit
@@Angelo-D15yes but the judges in Gotham and just about every other comic verse are pretty much corrupt or beyond incompetent to do theyr jobs so at that point he might as well take matters into his own hands and just start killing the worse villions in the city cus lord knows the judges, police and etc cant seem to do jack shit to actually help people like theyr supposed to yknow.
To me it’s that everyone knows whose doing the killing when they announce themselves, put their faces on a big screen, do it outright in broad daylight etc. Yet the police will still do fuck all but say “Looks like your going to jail.” Then when action is taken they’re hardly holding back on superheroes.
@@dead_vibesTo be fair, some comics and media give a good reason as to why he doesn’t kill: Batman is as mentally unstable as the villains he fights. If he goes around killing, he will eventually go insane with bloodlust. That doesn’t excuse when media portrays him stopping heroes who kill, the exception being injustice because Superman was grieving and unstable at the time.
Police: "We are 50 well-trained armored men and you are just a poor old lonely man. What are you going to do?" Peter: "What I promised Uncle Ben that I would do for the rest of my life..." *lunges at them* "Fight until the very end!"
Spiderman still holding back bro....he could easily punch Scorpion jaw clean off with a semi serious punch He could kill all of those officers Pretty easy tbh
@@trickster80 I thought Peter told her he would be back, but just ended up being gone for a few years. I mean I guess that is a long time to wait but it just kinda feels like the comic writers don’t want Peter to be happy
@@non_exist4nt462 plus The dude she ends up with is the reason they were separated. The dude threw Peter into the Time portal. The writers that made this just want to see Peter hurt
@@thatanos3372was that stated, or is that a fan theory? Could be Spider-man was going all out. But for the sake of the story, they just killed him off.
This whole spider man story is my absolute favorite it's Peter's birthday and after everything doctor strange gives him the best birthday present... The chance to say goodbye to Uncle Ben. Hits me every time
I remember reading about this suit in edge of time. It didn't mention the whole story though,so it's nice to finally know what his last stand actually was.
I think it's important to remember that it wasn't actually a feat of strength to jump above the crowd like that. It was an act of self-sacrifice, as he could've EASILY killed every single one of them. One punch each at most. His strength is WAY beyond losing to normal police, and considering he can sense his past self having a vision of the future, I think his spidey sense could tell he's about to be shot. He really is the most humble hero
Couldnt he have just knocked them out with one punch if he wanted to? It's not the first time an experienced hero did that all the time. This feels like a grown adult slowly moving his fists as a bunch of thee year olds try and dog pile him 😅
they just cant stop torturing spiderman 😢 . aside from being one of the most physically strongest heroes. he's also probably one of the strongest heroes mentally wise, since he hasn't gone full haywyre after enduring so much inner pain
I could be wrong, but I think one of the points in this comic is that Peter's getting too old to keep going. That coat isn't just for style, it's also extra padded, because he can't take hits nearly as well as he used to. Chances are, he was just too worn down (both from the fight and life) to dodge in time, even if he sensed it.
I'd rather read a story where he leaps into the trees, goes stealth and cripples every cop one-by-one. "If you want any cops in this city with working legs and spines, tell them to stay the #!&$ away." "...They'll never forgive you for this. Neither will I." "This city hates you, and them, more than it ever did me." "...Stay in hell, Peter." "You too. See ya 'round."
Last Stand Spider-Man is one of my favorite variants. His costume may just be a simple Leather Jacket, Leather Gloves, Black pants and Black Boots, but it just gives off a darker vibe of Peter than what we usually see in most media.
@@atomic747 no he doesn't,it literally been stated thor's hammer doesn't let him wield it because he REFUSES to kill anyone even for the greater good Although accidents Sometimes happen,he ain't no Batman where plot makes it so anyone that SHOULD have been killed by him not die due to plot armor just so he doesn't "break" his moral code
Last Stand is my favorite version of Peter, hands down. I love the grim nature of this dark future. It just makes it feel so much more real. A life with super powers isn't always peachy. I wish the current comics were able to do something like this.
Spiderman taking on 100 thugs with guns saving whole sky scrapers from falling getting hit with infinity beams dodging hundreds of bullets dodging light speed beams having a spider sense and being able to life multiple trucks at once and then a swat squad kills him huh believable
gives me the feels of batman killing joker, in "the darknight rises animated movie" im pretty sure they go after him for it like it was the last straw and also knowing his no kill code thinking hes gone nuts. except rly joker was able to snap his own neck no hands and did so planning for that exact scenario.
It's crazy how the hero gets turned into the world's number 1 world wide manhunt target when they finally kill some mass murderer/terrorists/phsyco in order to save possibly thousands of innocents.
You murdered a man who likes to hunt others as sport...including his own family at one point... Funny how the villains get away with all that..but the second a hero kills the bad guy. They have to go to jail -_-
Ive read a comment were someone hade a theory that the cops are probably corrupt and want the villains alive so they can still get paid with bonuses and stuff.
@@user-sm4mi8ug9q don't the villains kill cops half the time... unless these are crooked people in the system who want certian heroes out the way the second they get a chance cause they work for certain villains...idk
Also in that story Peter had to live all his fights with villains again, including the one when Gwen died. In the end he managed to do it and Strange defeated Dormammu. It was Peter's birthday on that day and Strange gave him possibility to meet uncle Ben and talk to him for few minutes as birthday present.
Guys of super heroes in general imo. Spiderman is IT. Hes just a kid. Trying to do his best. With a moral compass like cap, maybe better, strength to be a tyrant. And insane capabilities and at the end of the day. He only ever wants to help people. Fucking love spiderman.
Cut out more pain: Peter also saw his past at the same time, the day the spider bit him. He had the chance to change things so he's never be Spider-Man, possibly even keep Uncle Ben alive, but chooses not too.
The police really went after Spidey for killing Kraven, the guy who made it his sole purpose in life to hunt spiderman for sport and mount his body on a wall like a trophy animal. No wonder he snapped.
The Last Stand suit was one of my favorite drip in the Insomniac game along with the power to finish off every single enemy I want by the press of two buttons. Now seeing the backstory, I understand why it's called the "last stand" suit. Still cool af tho...
