Yeah, that’s the craziest part for me. It gives the impression that he’s just holding it with his other hand, but I have to assume that he used some sort of apparatus to move the POV so continuously in between each re-articulation of the figurine.
This is what I pictured in my head whenever I played with action figures as a kid but to everyone else I was just throwing my Spider-Man across the room.
The technique is that you basically film your hand and just make the movements of the character with small nudges. Then step through the final video and clip the keyframes you want for the animation. Allows for some really fast work. Drawback is that the background isn't super precise. But now imagine using a green background and a green glove. :9
